Climate Overview
El Salvador has a hot, humid tropical climate on the narrow coastal plain and a more temperate climate in the highlands (500/1,200 m), where temperatures average between 25 and 30°C year-round, as in the capital. Above 1,500 m, temperatures start to drop, especially in the evenings.
Like the rest of the region, El Salvador has a dry season and a rainy season. The latter, more pronounced in the mountainous areas, runs from May to October, with cyclones always possible along the coast and heavy rainfall that typically occurs in the late afternoon or at night, allowing the sun to shine the rest of the time.
Best Time to Visit El Salvador
The most pleasant months to visit the country are from November to April, which correspond to the dry season.
