Flying to the Cayman Islands
Overview
Despite their small size, each of the three islands in the archipelago has its own airport. Logically, Grand Cayman’s airport handles the most traffic, with flights to and from destinations including Cuba, Jamaica, Honduras, London, Toronto, and especially the United States, with many year-round or seasonal direct connections. The others, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, primarily offer services to Grand Cayman or between themselves.
Types of flights
Local airlines
The archipelago has two airlines of its own: Cayman Airways (the national carrier) and Island Air (charter).
- Cayman Airways: Founded in 1968, this airline operates 8 aircraft serving around a dozen destinations. It provides flights between the three Cayman Islands, as well as international routes to select cities in the United States, Cuba, Jamaica, and Honduras.
- Island Air: Established in 1987, the airline specializes in charter flights to and from Central America and the Caribbean. It also handles inter-island flights within the archipelago.
