Although the Dutch colonizers were Protestant, Catholicism remains the dominant religion in Curaçao, with nearly three-quarters of Curaçaoans practicing it. Several other religions are also present on the island to varying degrees; Curaçao is home to the oldest synagogue in the Americas, dating back to the early 18th century.
