Grenada: Climate and Weather
Location Map of Grenada
Climate Overview
Like the rest of the Antilles, Grenada enjoys a hot, humid tropical climate with a dry season and a rainy season separated by two short transitional periods.
The dry season runs from late December to early May. This is the most pleasant time to visit, with fine weather and trade winds that make the atmosphere particularly enjoyable. In contrast, the rainy season, from mid-June to early November, brings oppressive heat when the winds die down and frequent afternoon showers. Note that Grenada’s terrain affects rainfall; the northeast receives twice as much rain as the southwest. As for hurricanes, they pass near Grenada (between late June and October) but rarely hit the island directly, though in 2004 part of the island was destroyed by a hurricane.
Best Time to Visit for Climate
The dry season (December–May) is the best time to visit if you want to avoid too much rain and the occasional mugginess that can affect the island.
