Accommodation in the United States
Location Map of United States
Overview of the Offer
Accommodation in the United States is as vast in capacity as it is diverse in options, with prices (always advertised before taxes and often without breakfast) to suit every budget and settings and services for every taste. However, as everywhere, tourist areas during peak periods show accommodation rates that can more than double or triple. Conversely, places accustomed to business travelers tend to lower their prices on weekends or during holidays. Add to this numerous special offers and discount coupons available online or in the media, and the cost of accommodation can vary significantly from one traveler to another for the same trip.
Among the different types of accommodation, you’ll find:
- Hotels and motels, ubiquitous whether independent or part of a chain.
- A few all-inclusive options, primarily in Florida or California.
- Youth hostels (YMCA or Youth Hostels), mostly urban.
- Campgrounds, private or state-run, comfortable or basic, very common especially in and around parks and reserves.
- Fully equipped apartments or villas, found mainly in cities or coastal areas.
- Bed & Breakfasts or similar options for a homestay, with possibilities for home exchanges or "couchsurfing."
- And for nature and wide-open-space lovers, farms and ranches where you can be as active as you like.
