Things to Do in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Beaches and Resorts
There’s a clear contrast between the island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The former, of volcanic origin, mainly offers black-sand beaches (especially on the east coast, which is prone to currents), along with a few white-sand ones on the southern coastline, where most of the island’s beach infrastructure is concentrated. While they attract visitors, they aren’t the most beautiful in the archipelago.
The best beaches—those that match what you’d typically expect from a tropical paradise—are found in the Grenadines. This is why islands like Palm Island or Petit Saint Vincent are home to private resorts and restricted-access areas. Note that nudism is illegal across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and topless sunbathing for women is generally discouraged.
Diving
Like most destinations in the region, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines offers excellent diving and snorkeling spots for both beginners and experienced divers. The Grenadines, in particular, provide the best opportunities, especially in marine reserves. One of the most popular is Tobago Cays, near the island of Mayreau.
Sailing and Boat Trips
Inter-island cruises have played a big part in Saint Vincent’s reputation as a top sailing destination. There are plenty of options, whether you book in advance or arrange something once you arrive. Trips range from day excursions to multi-day adventures, on everything from standard boats to chartered yachts with a skipper.

Hiking Trails
While the Grenadines only offer short walks, Saint Vincent has some beautiful hikes in scenic surroundings. The highlight is La Soufrière, Saint Vincent, the volcano dominating the island’s interior—a wild, mountainous area with forests and waterfalls, offering stunning views. The summit (1,234 m) takes two to three hours to reach. Other small trails can be found around the island, like the one leading to the Trinity Falls Waterfall.
