Québecois qui voudrait partir de Belgique en moto pour faire le tour de la planète. Je compte partir à l'été 2010.
Je cherche des informations (tout est bienvenu) sur les formalités pour faire l'acquisition d'une moto neuve. Comme je ne suis pas citoyen Belge, puis-je obtenir le Carnet de Passage en Douanes nécessaire dans plusieurs pays d'Afrique et du Moyen-Orient? Puis-je acheter des assurances? Je n'ai pas l'intention de revenir à mon point de départ alors l'option achat-rachat n'est pas envisageable.
Est-ce que je devrais envisager d'acheter ma moto au Québec de l'expédier en Europe? Si oui, puis-je circuler en Europe avec une plaque d'immatriculation du Québec?
Ce n'est que le début de l'aventure alors je sens que je vais devenir un utilisateur assidu de ce site...
Bonjour, il me semble que le mieux serait d'acheter ta moto au Quebec, cela te permettra d'avoir tous les documents sans problème, et tu pourras la préparer en prenant ton temps (pose de renforts et de protections, fiabilisation de certains éléments comme par exemple filtration renforcée avec décanteur pour le circuit d'essence etc...). Une fois pret tu la mets en container (groupage a voir avec un transitaire maritime) et tu la récupères a Rotterdam.
Tu peux tout a fait circuler en France ou dans les autres pays avec ton immatriculation et tes papiers Canadiens, puisque c'est un séjour provisoire.

Jusqu'à présent, c'est en effet la solution qui semble être la plus totalement envisageable.😉 C'est-à-dire qu'elle me permet en effet de régler presque la totalité des formalités ici même, avant mon départ. Je suis bien content d'apprendre que je peux circuler dans l'UE avec l'immatriculation du Québec.
je pense qu'il est preferable de partir avec ta moto quand on vois la difficulter deja pour nous sur place a obtenir une carte grise en prefecture et divers document administratif cela devient vite le parcour du combatant
je suis aller a la prefecture de rennes hier pour faire la carte grise de mon transalp avec lequel je part au burkina le 2 janvier 3h d'attente pour resortir avec un papier provisoire bravo l'administration c'est au point
pour les passages en douanes je pourrais te donner plus d'info a mon retour fin janvier

Je crois que pour ce qui est de l'administration, tous les pays sois-disant civilisés en sont rendus à peu près au même point pour ce qui est de la vitesse administrative. Mais au fils des commentaires je pense en effet que la solution de tout faire ici et d'expédier la monture demeure la plus simple.
Le mieux est sans doute que tu te renseingnes aupres des Ambassades ou Consulats , je ne pense pas qu'en France , ni sans doute dans certains pays de la CEE , tu devrais avoir des soucis a rouler avec 1 plaque Quebecoise.
Question : pourquoi commence s tu par l'Europe et pas par les Ameriques ??, ce que te permettrait deja de bien preparer ta moto , sans etres encore {trop loin} de chez toi , ensuite d'Amerique du Sud , tu peux tres bien embarqué pour l'Afrique et remonter vers l'Europe . tu prevois combien de temps pour tout ça ??

J'ai déjà fait pas mal d'endroit en Amérique et j'y reviendrai sans doute, mais pour l'instant c'est l'Europe, l'Afrique et l'Asie qui m'appellent. Je prévois de voyager entre 2 et...10 ans. On verra bien où tout ça va m'emmener.
La solution d'acheter la monture ici et d'expédier commence à s'imposer de plus en plus.
Je ne veux surtout pas contrarier nos amis Français, mais hélas en Belgique, nous avons beaucoup plus de facilité qu'en France. ce que je peux te conseiller, c'est d'acheter ta Moto en Belgique, en étant citoyen Canadien, tu bénéficis de la TVA ce qui n'est négligeable( 21%) le vendeur peux prendre à sa charge les facilité d'Immatriculation avec plaque (Rouge) Pour l'exportation, étant donné que tu vas quiter la Belgique en moins d'un an. et ceci se fait également en France, en Allemagne etc....
L'assurance tu peux la faire en Belgique pour une durée ne dépassant pas un An, mais je suppose que tu pourras avoir une assurance rapatriement du type Mondiale assistance pour 170 euros max. cette assurance te couvre Totale ( rapatriement, Hospitalisation, dédommagement etc....)
Autre chose, c'est que le vendeur peux te donner la garantie mondiale de la Marque, que encas de pepin quelque part, tu pourras faire appel à cette garantie.
Je suis actuellement en Tunisie et je rentre en Begique le 26 Janvier 2010.

Pour les assurances ça m'arrange beaucoup merci. As-tu des noms de compagnie qui font la Mondiale? Ici on m'a référé à AXA international...et c'est assez nébuleux pour les assurances de ce côté-ci. Dès que c'est pour un autre continent, c'est comme si je parlais chinois.
Je pourrai me renseigner dés que je rentre en Belgique, mais normalementil n'y a pas de problème, puisque l'achat de le moto est prévu pour quitter la CE dans un délai déterminer par vous, et c'est pour cette raison que tu peux acheter hors TVA.
quant à la mondiale assistance je vais poser la question à mon assurance. pour moi citoyen Belge, je paye actuellement pour l'année 2010 130€ couverture totale. par contre pour un Non Europeen, il y a une majoration. je t'ai dis au grand max 170€. et la tranquilité totale.
Par Internet tu peux déja regarder après la marque et le modéle de la Moto, ensuite les vendeurs concessionnaire Belge, et essaye de rentrer en contact avec eux pou de plus amples renseignements.

J'ai contacté la branche canadienne de Mondiale assistance et ils ne peuvent pas m'assurer pour plus qu'un an. Comme je prévoie que mon voyage durera près de 2 ans ça devient problématique. Je n'ai trouvé qu'une seule compagnie ici qui accepte de me faire un contrat renouvelable. C'est assez dispendieux par contre, mais je ne vois pas d'autre solution pour l'instant.
Voilà comment ça se passe en Belgique, une fois tu conclues un contrat avec une assurance, celle ci te demande de faire une domiciliation bancaire, ( ce qui veut dire, l'assurance retire l'argent directement sur ton compte bancaire) et le contrat court annuellement tant que le payement se fait. sauf si tu veux mettre un terme à ton contrat d'assurance, dans ce cas, il faut prévenir 3 mois avant terme.
Je viens de penser à une autre option. prends tes renseignements auprès de ta banque qui te livre une carte VISA, en Belgique la carte VISA internetional, couvre ce genre d'assurance mondial assistance et annulation vol et perte de gaggage.

J'ai déjà vérifié auprès de VISA; j'ai en effet la possibilité d'une assurance, mais mon séjour est trop long. Si je ne reviens pas faire un tour chez-moi au bout d'un an, pas de possibilité.
Par contre avec le plan d'assurance médicale national du Québec j'ai une option pour demeuré assuré malgré mon long séjour et pour ce faire je dois partir à la mi-juillet. C'est tout un calcul de nombre de jours à l'étranger et une fois tout les 7 ans on peut rester en dehors du pays et conserver nos privilèges, on a qu'à les avertir ! Des fois y sont forts les bureaucrates !!!
Les compagnie prètes à m'assurer pour une longue période requièrent ce statut de toute façon alors...
Pour l'instant, le meilleur tarif ici pour l'assurance médicale incluant rapatriement et tout c'est $1100 CAD donc environ 800 Euros par année. Exorbitant !

Voilà, je viens de prendre qq renseignements auprès de 2 assurances. la première refuse d'assurer un étranger non résidant en Belgique, et l'autre me propose de prendre l'assurance à mon Nom ainsi que les documents de la Moto, ce que j'ai refuser, parce que tu perds la déduction de la TVA. alors ils vont se renseigner qq parts et me contacter par la suite. et je te donne l'information dès que possible.
Ce que je te propose, de voir le Site suivant www.assurance.be est une assurance en ligne et tu choisis assurance voyage ensuite l'option : World Gold Protection avec Annulation qui coute 270 euros. et le payement se fait par carte de credit.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.
Do a loop.
What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Next October we’re planning to ride the Ruta de la Plata by motorcycle—a historic Spanish route that runs from Gijón to Seville, also known as the N630.
Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
