Hello fellow travelers! My husband and I would like to spend a few weeks in Jan-Feb-Mar 2025 in Spain.☺️ Our main criteria: shopping, hiking, long walks along the sea, climate 15-24°C, easy transport, languages (French, English, or Spanish), 🥂🏌️‍♀️🚴🎾☀️🎼🏝️ We’ve already been to Marbella and Alicante. However, we don’t know these places apart from suggestions from friends who’ve visited them. 🤔 We’re thinking of renting an apartment or condo near the sea and maybe a car from time to time! We’ve visited Spain a lot and really enjoy it given the distance and climate for these months away from the cold! 😊 Looking forward to your suggestions and tips! Thanks so much! 🤗 Oh, and we’re seniors but in great shape! 💃🕺😉

Hi there!

Andalusia? Seville, Cordoba, Granada, white villages, and a seaside stay in Cadiz. I think this region ticks all your boxes:

boutiques, hiking, long walks along the sea, climate 15-24C, easy transport, languages—French, English, or Spanish

Hello, Thanks for the suggestions! I forgot to mention that we’d love to be by the sea! We enjoy taking long morning walks along the coast 👣. We’ve been to Andalusia, and several cities are wonderful! Thanks for the suggestions—I’ll still think about it 🤔👍

Costa Blanca? With cities like Cullera, Dénia, Calpe, Gandia
Il faut bien revenir pour repartir!

Yeah, I also thought about Valencia, but it’s not very far from Alicante, and it seems like they already know the area...

Catalonia is also a beautiful region. By the sea: Begur, Sitges, Tarragona... For shopping, Barcelona, of course, or Girona, and for hikes, there are plenty of amazing spots inland. That said, the weather won’t be quite as warm as in the south, but the region is usually sunny.

For Spain, you’ve also got the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands 😉

Costa Valenciana? With towns like Cullera, Denia, Calp, Gandia

Hi there, I’ve checked out these places, and some I don’t know seem interesting based on my criteria! I was also thinking of Torremolinos or Benalmádena, by the sea!!? Thanks for the suggestions! 😊

I was also thinking of Torremolinos or Benalmádena, by the sea!?

Two places that represent what I hate about Spain! Rows of apartment blocks that ruin the landscape. Restaurants, nightclubs, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, bars... The party scene and the noise that comes with it... But to each their own ;)

I think I’m gonna reconsider my destination! Because we want a bit of peace and quiet! Thanks for the info!😊 I’ll look over your suggestions again 😍

For Valencia, we’ll have to wait a bit! 🏴‍☠️ I’m thinking of them right now. It feels like the media is just skimming over the disaster...

Hi there, The area around Cartagena in the Murcia region seems like a great fit for what you're looking for. The weather stays mild even in winter because of the semi-arid climate, and the landscapes strangely resemble those of the Maghreb. That said, swimming in winter might be a bit chilly on the small and large beaches, including Calblanque, which is a nature reserve. You’ll need a vehicle, though public transport does exist. It’s too bad your trip ends in March, because mid-April brings some incredible Holy Week processions. Happy to provide more detailed info if needed.

Based on your preferences, I’d recommend the Costa Brava in Catalonia.

Alternatively... have you considered the Atlantic coast? The Asturias region is really lovely, and there are some gorgeous coastal hikes to do there.

Hi there, Catalonia does seem to fit what you're looking for. Just a small note about swimming—it’s a bit limited in winter, even though the sun is usually out. Check out Begur, La Escala, and San Marti beach, L'Estartit, etc...
Bonne route
