Hi there, my husband and I are planning a trip to Iceland in mid-October 2026. Would you have any advice on the best places to visit for a first trip to this destination? Thanks

Hi there, At this time of year and for a week, I’d recommend exploring southern Iceland—there’s already so much to see!

Hi there, Stick to the south only rather than the loop that’ll have you rushing around. I’ve just returned from a short trip to Iceland—only 5 days. I’ve got a travel journal on my blog about it if you’re interested... 😇 (see my profile)

Anne-Marie,

I just read your travel journal on Myatlas—it’s so nice! As always, the photos are gorgeous! 😉 I love that ice tunnel, it’s incredible!

It’s giving me ideas for a short trip to Iceland on a tighter budget, which is what’s holding me back right now.

There was recently another travel journal (also on Myatlas) by a young couple who traveled there in February for about ten days on a small budget. Super inspiring!

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Béatrice,

Uh... I’m Anne-Claire.😉 Thanks for your kind comment. Iceland really isn’t a budget-friendly country. It’s a major hurdle. I hesitated for a long time about going, and no matter how I planned it, I always ended up with astronomical costs. Plus, I did some 4x4 excursions, which were pricey, because I wanted to see the Highlands. See you soon🙂
