J'ai un problème médical "léger" mais très très fatiguant depuis plusieurs mois, et la semaine dernière mon médecin m'a parlé d'une intervention à faire sous anesthésie générale. Il s'agit d'une intervention gynécologique, qui dure peu de temps et s'il n'y a pas de problème je peux rentrer le soir même. Seulement voilà, à la fin de la semaine (vendredi) je dois partir aux etats unis pour 3 semaines et je suis très angoissée à cause des suites possibles liées à cette intervention. En effet bien que l'intervention soit courte, je vais quand même être anesthésiée et c'est surtout ça qui compte ! Il est possible que je sois opérée demain ou mardi, mais si c'est mercredi ou jeudi je veux annuler mon voyage, parce que les reports coutent beaucoup trop cher. L'assurance annulation que j'ai prise ne marchera pas car c'est que pour des maladies graves .... mais bien évidemment ils ne tiennent pas compte du fait qu'il y a toujours un risque après une anesthésie générale, et je crains surtout le risque de la thrombose veineuse.
Je ne peux pas reporter cette intervention, je suis trop fatiguée et je ne pourrai pas avec ce problème profiter de mon voyage (les femmes comprendront, qu'être indisposée 24h/24 avec règles abondantes pendant 2 mois presque en continu, c'est épuisant.... les médocs n'ont pas marché hélas).

Tu demandes à ton médecin de l'écrire cela et ensuite tu le présentes à la compagnie , si ils disent non demande leur un papier en retour afin qu'ils certifient pas de risque , crois moi qu'ils vont changer d'avis et accepter l'annulation de vol soit par un remboursement ou un crédit .

j'vous tiens au courant, ça peut toujours servir à d'autres comme expérience....
Ça me paraît évident que le médecin ne voudra pas que tu voyages, car pour éviter la thrombose veineuse, il devrait te prescrire une injection d'anti-coagulant avant le voyage. Or, un anti-coagulant, ce n'est pas vraiment l'idéal quand on vient de subir ton genre d'opération !
Et il me semble qu'il y a un secret médical à respecter, le médecin n'a pas à dévoiler la nature de l'opération et ce n'est pas à l'assurance-annulation de décider de la bénignité ou de la gravité d'une intervention.
Ne suffit-il pas qu'un médecin atteste de l'impossibilité de voyager ? Un certificat médical n'a-t-il plus aucune valeur et les médecins ne sont-ils plus crédibles ? Il ne s'agit quand même pas d'un procès où évidemment le secret médical serait levé !

Heu la thrombose veineuse est une supposition personnelle, un exemple je ne veux pas m'avancer.
Le premier médecin n'avait pas l'air chaud pour que je prenne l'avion le lendemain en me disant que je serai commateuse, mais il me semble que de toute façon cela ne serait pas raisonnable par rapport à les possibles suites opératoires imprévues (infections ... autre).
ton médecin, ou ton chirurgien, DOIT te faire un papier disant que ton état contre-indique un voyage, surtout un voyage aussi long.
S'il le pense, je ne vois pas de raisons pour laquelle il ne le ferait pas.
Prépare-toi pour la suite : c'est ton assurance annulation qui va jouer et ils te demanderont plein de pièces justificatives.
Un certificat médical est un préalable à l'ouverture du dossier de demande de remboursement auprès de la compagnie d'assurances, mais, bien entendu, leur contrôle médical ne se contente pas de cela. Un dossier complet est envoyé au voyageur, à faire remplir par le médecin, le chirurgien ... selon les cas. Et, bien entendu, c'est LEUR contrôle médical le seul maître à bord après Dieu, selon les conditions du contrat souscrit. Et l'assurance a un seul but, éviter de payer !
Tout d'abord ma petite opération (sous anesthésie générale quand même) s'est bien passée. Je suis épuisée.
J'ai donc décidé d'annuler le voyage de demain, car je ne peux faire 15 h de voyage, et le jet-lag m'empechera de me reposer.
J'ai donc appelé "Europe assistance" j'avais une assurance multi risque ..... SAUF QUE L'ANNULATION N'EST PAS COMPRISE.
Suite à l'opération le chir a dit que je pouvais partir. Mon généraliste trouve normal que je ne parte pas, parce qu'une fois là bas si j'ai le moindre problème en rapport avec l'opération je ne pourrai pas me faire rembourser des frais médicaux puisqu'en partant j'étais au courant que je venais de me faire opérer.
La compagnie aérienne ne rembourse rien, sauf taxes.
Bien sûr quand j'ai pris mes billets, je savais pas que j'avais cette pathologie.

Je me sens bête, stupide, je suis atrocement triste de cette situation, je m'en veux, etc. J'aurais pu essayer d'y aller quand même, mais j'ai trop peur, me sens plus capable, voir même n'éprouve que l'envie de rester chez moi sans rien faire sauf dormir.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
