Donc pour la petite histoire, un amis et moi avons envie de partir au Canada ou au Québec à la fin de nos études (c'est à dire en fin d'année) et cela pour plusieurs mois. Nous n'avons pas encore de destination précise, à vrai dire nous aimerions d'abord rencontré des gens par le biais de forum qui seraient susceptible de nous accueillir (à partir de là on se fixerait une destination, quand je dis accueil je veux pas dire logement)) et de nous faire découvrir la culture du pays (je parle pas de visite...). Au final c'est pour pas pas qu'on se retrouve comme 2 cons au beau milieu du Canada dans un appart sans connaître personne.

En effet le message n'est pas bien clair 🤪, pour être plus précis nous sommes 2 étudiants et à la fin de nos études, c'est à dire à partir de la fin de cette année scolaire, nous prévoyons de partir au Canada ou au Québec. Au départ on souhaitait y partir pour une année entière et essayer d'y travailler mais il faut faire un dossier, disposé à l'avance d'une offre d'emploi sur place... et tout cela prend beaucoup de temps. En définitive on partirait seulement pour des "vacances" mais qui s'étaleraient sur plusieurs moi.
On souhaite partir pour changer d'air, voir d'autres gens, d'autres mentalités, se remplir la tête de souvenirs, et aussi pour changer de paysage (y paraît que s'est jolie par chez vous 🙂). Quand je disais "pas de visites" je voulais dire pas la jouer "touriste, je visite toute l'Amérique du Nord", voir des choses mais rester sédentaire.
Lorsque nous aurons notre destination définitive nous recherchons un logement histoire d'avoir un point d'encrage directement à notre arrivé, mais merci beaucoup pour ta proposition (on nous avait dit que le Québécois étaient très accueillant, ça à l'air d'être vrai 😛).
Pour ce qui est de notre recherche de correspondant, en somme tu as assez bien résumé l'histoire : "Voulez-vous seulement connaître déjà quelqu'un sur place?" . Exactement, on aimerait connaître quelqu'un sur place qui puisse nous accueillir, nous faire découvrir sa ville, ses activité, ses sortis avec ses amis, et avec qui on pourrait s'éclater durant 3 mois. Car partir loin pour ne voir rien n'y personne n'a pas intérêts.
En tout cas l'intérêt que tu portes à notre affaire est apprécié 🙂, peux tu nous en dire un peu plus sur toi et sur le lieux où tu habites ? la ville, emplacement au niveau du Québec, ton âge... ?

Alors je suis de la ville de Québec même, plus précisement de Beauport, à plus ou moins 10 minutes du Vieux-Québec.
J'ai 24 ans. Je viens de terminer mon cours en réception en hôtellerie et je travaille dans ce domaine. Je pourrais donc bien sur vous montrer les endroits les plus visitées par les touristes et bien sur ceux qui sont méconnue mais tout aussi plaisant sinon plus. Je peux aussi vous aider à trouver un logement lorsque vous serai fixé sur l'endroit où vous désirez aller. En connaissant le coin je pourrais vous envoyer des bons lien ou des endroits ou chercher et ou ne pas chercher.

bonsoir à toi Audrey, je suis l'amis à Sylvain, je m'appelle Alexis, et je suis dans le même état d'esprit que Sylvain, c'est à dire, l'envie de partir ( pendant que l'on est assez jeune et sans responsabilités trop importantes pour pouvoir le faire). ton aide serai la bien venue car il nous faut absolument un contact sur place, de plus tes connaissances dans le milieu de hôtellerie seraient une aubaine pour 2 étrangés à la recherche d'un refuge, forte de ces qualités tu à l'aire vraiment sympathique et accueillante .
Au faite, nos examens ce termine fin Juin, mai mon contrat d'alternance finit fin Août et le temps d'économiser les fonds nécessaires au voyage prendront certes un peut de temps, je pence que Sylvain saura mieux te renseigner que moi sur ce point.

Oui en effet nous aurions tout un tas de questions à te poser...
Mais tout d'abord pour te répondre, comme a écrit Alexis nous terminons nos examens en Juin, ensuite il va falloir qu'on bosse un peu histoire d'accumuler des sous pour tenir un certains temps dans ton pays étant donné qu'on ne pourra pas travailler sur place. On estimait partir au plus tôt en Octobre et au plus tard en Décembre. Ca fait un peu loin c'est vrai mais en définitive le temps file et ça arrivera très vite.
De tout cela découle une question, peux tu nous dire combien environ il faut compter, en Dollars (c'est bien des Dollars chez vous ?), pour un mois là-bas, tout compris (logement (petit appart) nourriture et sortie) ?
Autres questions vite fais sur le tas qui me viennent à l'esprit, il fait froid en Automne-Hiver à Québec ? Québec c'est une ville du genre mégalopole, touristique, petite ville dans la campagne ? j'ai regardé des photos ça à l'air super sympa, apparament votre emblème est le jolie Château sur la colline (y'a plein de photos de celui-ci), j'ai trouvé aussi que la ville avait des allures un peu Européen sur certains points, genre Belgique, es-ce-que c'est le cas ?

Sachez tout d'abord que en octobre il y a encore de magnifique journée, le paysage est superbe avec les couleurs de l'automne. Novembre est souvent le mois le plus triste de l'année, il fait clair plus tard et noir plus tôt, c'est gris et froid, pas encore de neige juste de la pluie, c'est le mois que la majorité des gens aiment le moins. Par contre décembre, c'est le temps des sport d'hiver bien sur, la frénésie des fêtes, il y a plein d'activités et de décorations. Par contre c'est très froid, nous on est habitués 😉. Il vous faudras donc penser à des habits d'hivers si vous n'en avez pas déjà. Les attraits touristiques certains sont fermés mais ils en reste beaucoup d'ouverts et il y aura beaucoup moins d'acchalandage. Québec n'est pas une ville surpeuplé comme Montréal par exemple, le tourisme est beaucoup basé sur l'histoire c'est ce qui attire les gens, l'architecture, les lieux historiques. C'est une ville plein de charme, dépend seulement de ce que vous chercher à faire comme voyage encore une fois 😉
Pour ce qui est des prix, bien sur sa dépend de plein de chose, si vous voulez un appart en plein coeur de la ville ou un appart hôtel il vous faudra débourser plus vous loger que si vous en choissiez un en périphérie les activités que vous voulez faire aussi modifieras le coup de votre voyage mais je dirais que pour les 2 ensembles entre 1500$/can et 2000$ par mois sera suffisant soit entre 900 et 1200 euro.
Pour ce qui est de ma motivation à vous aider et bien j'en ai aucune idée 😛 Je suis tombé par hasard sur votre message et j'ai trouver votre idée intéressante, je me suis dit: Pourquoi pas leur répondre!! En plus si vous venez par ici en automne hiver, c'est la saison basse dans les hôtels donc je pourrai prendre des congé plus facilement si besoin est. J'aime la nouveauté, faire des nouveaux trucs... je pourrai en même temps voir ma ville d'un autre oeil et en apprendre sur votre culture, c'est comme un échange dans le fond!!

J'ai vu Alexis ce soir, on a pas mal discuté au sujet de tes messages, ta ville nous plait assez bien mais aussi et surtout tu as l'ai vraiment sympa (pour le peu que j'ai pus lire biensûre) et avoir une personne comme toi sur place serait vraiment appréciable. Donc on vas partir sur cette destination pour le moment et voir si notre contact avec toi tiens jusqu'en Octobre.
Merci pour tes renseignements, entre 900 et 1200 euros par mois serait un prix tout à fait acceptable. Concernant la période pour notre départ d'après tes dires il vaudrait mieux que nous partions en Décembre pour éviter cet horrible mois de Novembre que tu nous a décris, mais à vrai dire notre départ se decidera dès que nous aurons les sous, le plus tôt possible 😉.
Quand tu parles de frénésie des fêtes au mois de décembre, peux tu nous décrire un peu l'ambiance, ce qu'il y a de spéciale ? et pour ta part, quelles sont les activités des jeunes par chez vous, vous sortez en boîte de nuit les week-end comme en France, ou vous êtes plutôt du genre à faire des soirée en petit groupe au chaud dans un appart ? De notre côté on est plus du genre soirée dans un appart, ou voir des concerts, des sortis dans les bars. La journée on prévoyait de visiter la ville (encore une fois que demander de plus qu'une professionnelle travaillant dans l'hotellerie/tourisme).
A ce sujet on voulait savoir, il y a des montagnes par chez toi ? quand on pensait au Canada on imaginait beaucoup les grandes étendus avec des hautes montagnes en bordure d'un lac et d'une forêt de sapins...

Pour ce qui est du temps des fêtes, et bien, les étudiants tombent en vacances, c'est le début des sports d'hiver (ski, snow, raquette, patinage) le temps gris de novembre fait place à un temps blanc. Les gens décorent leurs maisons avec des lumières, même en ville les rues sont éclairé de lumières de Noël! C'est le temps des party, le jour de l'An et Noël donc plus de monde dans les bars. Il y a aussi un peu plus d'acitivités. Vous pourrez aller visiter l'hôtel de glace et si vous rester jusqu'en février vous aller pourrez participer au Carnaval de Québec. Bien sur il y a des montagnes mais c'est un peu plus loin, à peu près 20 à 30 minutes de voiture, on peut être en montagne.
Pour ce qui est des activités et bien c'est un peu comme chez vous sorties dans le bars, il y a les bars de chansonniers et les boîtes de nuit pour danser (il y en a pour tout les goûts) Ou les soirées tranquille entre amis aussi. Ça dépend comment on feel!!
Et je ne suis pas encore une professionnelle en tourisme 😛 j'ai juste étudiée et j'aime ma ville. Si il y a des choses qui vous intéresserais plus que d'autres laisser le moi savoir et je jetterai un oeil!

Quand on sera sur place on pourra se rencontrer si vous le souhaitez avec ta copine, plus on est de fous plus on rit ! Néanmoins, comme je l'ai précisé plus haut à Audrey, notre départ n'est pas encore pour tout de suite (dans 6 mois au mieux)... Par contre il est sûre et certains que ça se fera et vraisemblablement votre ville sera notre destination.

Franchement je suis impatient d'être à Québec pour faire la fête, cette ville, comme tu en parle à l'aire d'être une ville jeune qui bouge, tout à fait nos critères de recherche, Moi et Sylvain sommes de grands fêtards, aimants tout genre de soirées, que ce soit posé autour de quelques vers à discuter de tout et de rien sur un fond de music à la Bob Dylan ; LinkinPark ; Saez......, ou bien dans un bar (préférence irlandais mai peut d'importance tan qu'il y à de l'ambiance) ; et le summum d'une bonne soirée, un bon concert.

I know you can’t see into the future any better than I can, so I’m obviously not asking what the wildfire situation will be like in a month...
But if any of you could let me know if, CURRENTLY, there are major difficulties—not just for locals, of course, but for tourists as well?
We’re hesitating between taking the chance or canceling what we still can.
We’re not young anymore and don’t have the flexibility we once did...

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. Paradise Meadow (maybe not going all the way), Devastated Area, and the loop around Reflection and Manzanita Lakes (Day 3)
Cinder Cone and Painted Dunes (Day 4)
Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Spring Lake (Day 5)
I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
Thanks for advising me on the booking—should I reserve a room in the hotel or go for a cabin for the best view?

I’m planning a week-long family trip to NYC in October 2026. The focus is on museums and soaking up the New York vibe. I’ve been checking Airbnb, but the prices in Manhattan are through the roof. Since I don’t know NYC well, is it "wise" to look outside Manhattan? Any neighborhoods you’d recommend?

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

I’m planning a week in S.F. in April 2026 and I can’t figure out how to tell the cable cars—of which I understand there are three lines—apart from the trams, which I think number seven. I can’t find their individual numbers or routes anywhere.
