Déjà lu plusieurs sujets sur le climat au Sénégal au mois d'aout mais j aimerai savoir si il y a des personnes sur place qui pourraient donné des infos sur le temps en ce moment...je pars dans 9 jours et je me pose des questions quand je regarde les sites de météo... Savoir ce que je prends dans ma petite valise.

Il a plus trois fois depuis le début du mois, dont un orage assez violent. Je pense que ce mois sera pluvieux
Le problème c'est pas seulement le climat, c'est ou tu iras !! Si tu dois beaucoup bouger, il faudra faire attention à la route, entre innondations et nids de poules.
Les pluies sont bèves et fortes ici, mais ensuite le soleil réapparait.
Il fait chaud et beaucoup de moustiques aussi.
Et ne pas oublier les coupure de courant

En fait la première semaine nous faisons un petit circuit... Dakar, Lac Rose, Ile de Gorée Saint-Louis, Djoudj, Desert du Loumpoul, Sine Saloum, Joal Fadiouth... Ensuite nous serons durant 1 semaine à la Somone.
Pour ce qui est des moustiques je m en doutais surtout au Djoudj et le Sine Saloum...mais est ce une grosse année à moustiques...?
La pluie je m'inquiétais d'avoir 2 3 jours de pluies d'affilés en fait et de devoir prévoir des vétements en conséquence comme nous partons avec un enfant...et pour ce qui est du courrant cela ne me pose aucun problème ayant séjourné 2 mois au Bénin et au Togo je sais ce que c'est et ça fait parti du charme!
Je te conseille des habits légers genre été; chaussures fermées et sandales, képi pour le soleil.IL fait réellement chaud; a dakar il pleut peu et je dis même dans tout le senegal. A la limite d'un déficit pluviométrique. Attention par contre mieux prendre un habit imperméable car la semaine du quinez aout a toujours été pluvieuse. Le 15aout est devenu une référence pluviométrique. Bah les moustiques c'est la période. Je suis sur place et peut te donner les info nécessaires
C est vrai que je suis inquiete pour la météo...la chaleur ne me gene pas trop surtout vu le climat que l on a cet été en France!!! Par contre c est vrai que pour la pluie c est une autre affaire on a deja eu notre dose ici! Peux tu me dire en gros ce que l on peut avoir au maximun comme précipitations? Le parc De DJOUDJ est fermé en été, les oiseaux ont tous émigré en Europe.

Je suis au Sénégal depuis un peu plus d'un mois et c'est vrai que nous avons eu 3 grosses pluies. Pluies très violentes qui ne permettent pas de continuer tranquillement sa visite. D'après la télévision locale, il est tombé mardi 54mm de pluie à certains endroits une triste situation pour les habitants. Par contre à 50km de là (nous étions en route) tout était sec. Et donc, tu le comprendras, c'est une question de chance aussi.
Par rapport aux excursions dans les lieux que tu cites, si tu as l'occasion de choisir ton moment, le mieux en cette saison je pense, est de voir une fois sur place. Un autre correspondant l'a déjà précisé, le parc de Djoudj est fermé pour l'instant. Par contre, nous avons visité et sans pluie la plupart des endroits que tu évoques. Il a plu dans le désert de Lompoul (mardi 2 août) mais durant la nuit, pas gênant donc pour la visite.
Concernant les moustiques, il y en a beaucoup par endroit. Le médecin de la travelclinic spécialisé dans la prévention et connaissant le Sénégal m'a prescrit le traitement anti paludisme. Mais tout dépend du type de voyage que vous réalisez. Rare sont les moustiques qui s'aventurent dans les chambres des hôtels 4 étoiles climatisés. Par contre ils étaient nombreux dans la tente à Lompoul et ce malgré une vaporisation à la tombée de la nuit.
Pour les vêtments, je n'ai porté que short de ville ou pantalon léger et débardeur ample en lin. Aux pieds espadrilles, mais dans mon sac une paire de tongs, car les espadrilles c'est long à sécher ;-)
Je te souhaite un excellent séjour dans ce pays aux habitants tellement sympas et si tu as d'autres questions n'hésite pas.

Départ dans 2 jours, de toutes façons cela ne pourra pas etre pire quand France jamais vu un été pareil à Paris!!! Et puis ce ne sont pas quelques orages qui pourront gacher notre séjour et je me dis que le Sénégal comme le reste de l'Afrique en a bien besoin...elles sont précieuse c'est rares pluies.
Pour les moustiques je me dis qu'effectivement en fonction de la ou nous nous trouverons nous serons plus ou moins grignotés mais la encore finalement y a pire....nous sommes en vacances avec un bon traitement anti palu...j'ai survécu au puces de sable du Bénin je vais bien survivre aux moustiques du Sénégal!!

en fait je dois aller à Rufisque mi-septembre pour 2 semaines, mon hésitation vient du fait que je serai enceinte de presque 2 mois à cette période et que je ne logerai pas à l'hôtel avec clim mais chez l'habitant, je crains les pluies, les moustiques, les coupures de courant (donc pas de ventilateur la nuit).
Dans mon état, pensez-vous que je prends un risque ? puis-je y aller sereine ou mieux vaut éviter d'y aller ?
et pouvez-vous me dire si logiquement il pleuvra plus en septembre ou pas plus qu'actuellement ? la température, les moustiques, etc...
bonsoir kandi, je ne sais pas si tu connais rufisque, mais en temps ordinaire (hors mousson) c pas très propre !!! perso, je ne m'y suis arreté qu'1 fois, sans problème, pour déjeuner, c surtout les égouts en bord de route, qui puent, et il y a toujours une fuite d'eau, sur la chaussée, et c toujours bouché au niveau de la circulation, même en prenant les raccourcis,
aussi, pour séjourner sur place, il faut avoir envie ou des raisons persos, je prèfère de loin d'autre endroits au sénégal
maintenant je ne connais pas plus que ça, et peut-être je me trompe !!!!

Eh oui, tout ce que tu décris peut arriver. Il y a beaucoup de coupures de courant et elle sont parfois très longues. Donc si dans le lieu où tu loge, il n'y a pas de groupe ou si pour éviter la dépense en fuel on ne le branche pas, cela va être très dur, je pense. mais tout dépend de ta résistance. Pour ce qui nous concerne, le mois dernier, dès qu'il y avait une coupure la nuit, Eddy ne pouvait pas tenir dans la chambre, nous avons pris par la suite une chambre avec clim dans un hôtel avec un groupe qui se mettait en route automatiquement. Une très très nette différence de confort, pour dormir.
Par ailleurs, je confirme ce qui est dit sur Rufisque : embouteillages permanent et innondations, pas le lieu idéal pour séjourner. Mais là aussi, je n'ai fait que passer 3 fois.
Me voila de retour aujourd'hui meme...deja...2 semaines cela passe très vite!
Bon alors effectivement quelques pluies bien costaud mais pas non plus de quoi gâcher le séjour au contraire cela à meme apporté de grands moments de rigolade durant notre séjour. Et puis bon c'est pas non plus comme si il faisait froid en plus de la pluie...enfin tout ca pour dire rien de catastrophique. Pas de grosses coupures d'éléctricités durant notre séjour mais au coeur de la vie sénégalaise cela est certainement très différent, quand tu es touriste à moins d'etre vraiment chez l habitant tu n'es pas vraiment confronté à ce probleme....
Pour ce qui est des moustiques la encore en étant touriste avec le ptit confort qu est la clim pas de gros soucis, après si on se tape une bonne pluie suivant les endroits effectivement ils font leurs apparitions mais c est pas non plus l'invasion!!
Pour ce qui est de Rufisque, j'y passais encore hier...c'est vrai qu il y a toujours une grosse circulation et vu l'état des véhicule cela s'accompagne d'un air assez chargé, en plus c'est vrai qu'avec les quelques grosses journées de pluies que nous avons eu et bien pas mal d'eaux croupies sur le bord les routes.
Si tu connais la vie africaine je ne pense pas que cela te "choquera" mais en revanche si c'est une première expérience, et dans ton état, cela peut etre un "choc".
C'est sympa de donner quelques nouvelles et surtout le jour même de ton retour. Ravie d'apprendre que finalement pluies et coupures n'ont pas été perturbantes durant ton séjour.
Bien d'accord avec toi cela ne nous a pas empêchés de faire un superbe voyage au Sénégal et d'apprécier la gentillesse de sa population.

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.
