ceci n'est pas un enieme sujet pour savoir quel anti palu prendre pour notre voyage, mais juste une interrogation / reflexion que nous avons en ce moment.
A l'institut pasteur, on nous avait dit avant de partir: Laos, anti palu tout le temps toute l'annee et partout. Bien. Et pour le yunnan, en Chine? Ca depend, dans le sud oui, si il pleut... Un peu flou quoi.

Donc dans le sud on y est, et on traverse a velo depuis plusieurs jours toute la foret tropicale. Il pleut bien sur tous les jours, saison des pluies oblige.
Pas de moustiques, les gens ne se protegent absolument pas (short, t-shirt le soir), il n'y a aucune moustiquaire et il est impossible de se procurer quoi que ce soit contre les moustiques sauf les classiques spirales et plaquettes a bruler.
Franchement ca nous pose question, du coup on ne prend toujours pas nos anti palu (doxy) et on se demande bien comment vont faire les moustiques pour nous devorer sitot le poste frontiere franchi.
Voila, donc on hesite, on se demande si en France on n'en fait pas un peu trop... On attend de voir a Boten (la ville frontiere cote laos) ce que l'on peut trouver en pharmacie. Mais surtout, on regardera si les locaux laos se protegent plus que les locaux chinois et on fera pareil je pense.
Perso, si l'Institut Pasteur dit anti Palu au Laos, je le prendrais. On ne peut pas jouer a la roulette russe avec cette maladie. Tu ne peux pas non plus calquer ton attitude sur les mentalites asiatiques, teintees de fatalisme, de reincarnations et d'impermanence.
Vaut mieux regretter de les avoir pris pour rien que l'inverse.

Quand je suis allé dans cette région, je m'étais posé la même question et j'avais consulté de même le site de l'Institut Pasteur.
Oui, c'est flou, et c'est impossible de l'éviter. Il y a forcément une transition progressive entre les zones pas impaludées, celles qui le sont peu et où le risque est faible pour un séjour de moins d'une semaine, celles qui le sont plus, mais en ville ça le fait encore avec des répulsifs tous azimuths, et celles où un traitement est incontournable.
Il faut bien tracer une limite et une frontière internationale est d'autant plus commode que la plupart des voyageurs ne la franchissent pas.
En fait, votre frontière, c'est l'endroit où vous allez prendre votre premier comprimé. Comme vous êtes en vélo, donc en extérieur et lents, ce lieu est très arbitraire. Sauf à descendre d'un haut plateau, et ce n'est pas votre cas, le risque aura été le même quelques heures plus tôt ou plus tard.
"un tel décalage" : DANS TOUS LES PAYS PAUVRES ! Rien que l'exemple de l'eau +- potable que les locaux boivent mais qui peuvent démolir un touriste en une demi-journée . Et dans les zones à tsé-tsé , vous croyez que les locaux peuvent SE PAYER ( c'est tout le problème ! ) le traitement préventif ?

Sinon, pour Titeariane, oui, ce décalage dans les recommandations de l'Institut Pasteur n'a aucune sens... Ceci dit, sur cette carte, c'est déjà un peu plus logique: on voit que le sud de la Chine (donc le Yunnan) est concerné.
Cette route je l'ai faite 5 fois, comme vous à vélo, dans tous les senses (même qu'un coup j'J'ai essayé à l'envers sans les mains*), à chaques saisons, alors pour les anti-palus, à moins d'être dans la jungle où vous n'avez pas accès à vélo et en ayant la bonne idée de se ballader tout nu au coucher du soleil, alors effectivement il y a un risque, sinon ça devrait aller, tu pourras te passer de ce poison.
C'est à environ 30 min avant le coucher du soleil et 1 heure après le coucher qu'il vaut mieux rester dans sa tente ou protegé. Dans les villes pas eu de problème.
Votre anti-palu n'est pas un traîtement prophylaxique??

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...

The suspected origin is contamination in Namibia by jackals.
The contagion seems to be spreading.

It’s the bite that transmits the disease.
There are so-called "furious" forms with aggression, but also forms without aggression.
