Evitez Pattaya sauf si vous cherchez a juste faire la fête, les bars et voir des filles faciles car pour la plage a part a ller a Koh samet ou Koh Larn ca sera pas terrible. Phuket, Krabi ou même du coté de Koh Samui, les paysages et l'ambiance seront beaucoup mieux 😉
En effet, une semaine entière à Bangkok pour un séjour de deux, ça semble beaucoup, à moins que vraiment tu n'aies envie de rater aucun incontournable, ce qui alors est bon.
Ayutthaya pour les ruines historiques, facile depuis BKK.
Mais Kancha est une autre bonne idée pour voir un peu de pays.
Pour les plages, Koh Samet est ce qu'il y a de plus près et de plus beau, à mon avis. Pas très cher ni très long en bus depuis BKK, ticket incluant le ferry.
Un scooter loué à Bangkok, à mon avis, que ce soit après 4 mois de permis ou 40 ans, c'est très risqué. Au moindre pépin, tu es dans la mouise.
En revanche, ailleurs pourquoi pas.
Mais pas non plus pour de très longs trajets. Mieux vaut le bus, c'est pas cher du tout.
Le permis international est gratuit et tient 3 ans, voir avec ta Préfecture s'il est accordé aux "jeunes conducteurs".

de toute façon tu vas louper 99,99% de la thailande, quoi que tu fasses, va voir et faire ce que tu aimes, le reste serait une erreur, et meme en te concentrant la dessus, 2 semaines seront vite passees

la derogation qui te permet en france de conduire un scooter de + de 50cm3 n est valable qu en france
tu pourras sans probleme louer un scoot la bas, mais s il t arrive quoi que ce soit (accident, degats sur ton sccot, degats sur un autre vehicule, blessure perso ou blessure sur autrui) tout sera a ta charge financiere, ce a quoi il faudra ajouter les charges pour infractions, peines d amendes, prison
tout ca c est si tu n as pas de chance, mais tu dois deja savoir que statistiquement, les gens de ton age n ont pas de chance et ont bcp plus d accidents que les conducteurs plus experimentes

comme deja dit, conduire quoi que ce soit a bangkok serait pire qu ailleurs voire suicidaire
le voyage est moins drôle quand il s arrête plus tot que prévu, fait toi la main quelques années en france, légalement(=sans risquer d’être désigné volontaire pour une expérience dans les prisons thaïlandaises), en profitant de tout ce que notre histoire nous a légué: assurances, soins, protection sociale, pourcentage de conducteurs avec permis et code de la route qui génèrent bcp moins de blessés et de morts qu’en thailande...
En attendant, taxis et tuk tuk, un peu plus chers qu une location de moto, restent tres abordables en thailande, il y en a partout, ils connaissent leur chemin, et pour répondre à ta question, constituent une solution plus prudente pour un voyageur de 19 ans
Après avoir réfléchi, mon nouveau plan est environ 4/5 jours à Bangkok (4 jours et demi) et le reste à Phuket. Je prendrai un vol aller retour Bangkok/Phuket.
A Bangkok, je me déplacerai en utilisant les transports en commun et les taxis.
Et sinon, à Phuket, malgré l'avis contradictoire et justifié, j'aimerai vraiment avoir un scooter. C'est une ile certe touristique mais je m'imagine bien me déplacer dans l'ile comme bon me semble vers la mer, vers les villes, vers les forêts, sans être à la merci des taxis et de leur possibles tentatives d'arnaques. Un petit peu de liberté en fait.

A Phuket des milliers de scooter ( motobyke ) se louent chaque jour , suffit au début de faire très attention et de pas rouler vite , et ça roule à gauche dans ce pays . Donc prudence et pas d'excès de vitesse pas la peine .

Il faut dire que j'ai toujours voyagé jusqu'à maintenant dans de grandes villes occidentales où tout est "comme ça" où louer quelque chose c'est possible ou pas, où marchander c'est rare, où on a pas d’appréhension car c'est un peu comme là ou on habite.
Là Forcement la Thaïlande ça change et c'est cela qui m'attire car je ne sais pas vraiment à quoi m'attendre. Je ne me lasserai jamais de Londres et New York que j'ai déjà fait, mais l'Asie en générale m'attire beaucoup plus. Je pense que la Thaïlande ne me décevra pas.
Par contre vu ton âge tu ne pourra pas louer une voiture , car les grandes compagnies de locations de voiture ne louent pas des voitures aux conducteurs avant l'âge de 24 ans il me semble , et surtout ne jamais louer une voiture aux loueurs de rues jamais . Donc il te reste le scooter et comme je disais plus haut roule très prudemment et pas vite surtout , car il fait très chaud le bitume est très chaud et lorsque qu'il y a une petite pluie c'est là qu'il faut faire très très attention car les échappements des camions thaï y dépose de matières grasse ou perte d'huile des véhicules et donc a certain endroit ça glisse surtout dans les virages , donc prudence prudence et toujours regarder devant , les côtés et derrière utiliser les rétros .
Toujours être sur ses gardes de la circulation toujours , et rouler cool . Ne jamais laisser son passeport au loueur mais une photocopie , donc avant de partir fait des photocopies de ton passeport en couleur , si le loueur ne vaut pas pas de problème va voir une autre loueur il y en a a tout les coins de rues . Et regarder l'état de ton scooter avant de louer , si tu remarques une bosse ou rayures le faire constater au loueur ou mieux faire des photos du scooter afin de montrer au loueur si en cas de bosse ou autre dégradation du scooter .
Donc conclusion reste prudent et surtout pas de fougue de jeunesse à rouler vite . 😉

je reviens juste de la thailande, à mon avis pour un premier séjour et vu le nombre de jours que tu as, 3 jours à bangkok et deux jours à kanchanaburi ça pourrait être sympa.
ensuite pour le scooter, moi qui n'en avait jamais utilisé, j'en ai loué à kanchanaburi, chiang mai et ko lanta, pas de souci si tu roules tranquille, tu verras, les thailandais dans la majorité roulent avec prudence.
et surtout, tu évites de faire comme la majorité des touristes dans le sud qui roulent en scooter sans casque et en tong, tu mets le casque et des chaussures, tu roules pépère et tu ne devrais pas avoir d'ennuis.

Exact , a moins d'avoir Le permis moto A sur ton permis rose , d'ailleurs c'est pour ça que sur le permis international le permis moto n'est pas stipuler dans ce cas si on a que le permis A1 sur le permis rose .

Il mentionne les seules catégories du permis français qui ont été obtenues après examen. Les catégories de permis qui ont été obtenues par équivalence, par exemple le permis A1 avec le permis B, ne sont pas reportées.
Le permis international n'est valable à l'étranger qu'accompagné de votre permis de conduire français.
En France, il n'a aucune valeur. Vous ne pouvez pas conduire avec. Il ne remplace pas votre permis de conduire français, que vous devez conserver.

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
