Nous sommes 3 filles de 24 et nous partons pour 1 semaine au Costa rica, du 26 fév au 5 mars 2005 nous voulong voyager low budget, découvrir des choses magnifiques et trouver des places ou dormir vraiment pas cher. (style backpacker)
Ma question est, vu qu'on a seulement 1 semaine devrait-on envisager de se promener en 4x4 ou s'en tenir au bus c'est parfait.
Aussi, combien pourrait coûter la location d'un 4x4 pour 1 semaine en dollar canadien ???????
certainement que je louerais au moins une auto, va sur le site :www.zumarentacar.com c'est une tres bonne place pour louer une auto ou un 4x4, le proprio est un quebecois, régis filion.
Toutes les lignes de bus passent par San José et les liaisons vers les villes et les sites touristiques les plus réputés sont très fréquentes. Si vous arrivez une demi-heure avant le départ, vous êtes quasi-assurés d'avoir une place assise. Et ce moyen de transport coûte trois fois rien...
Par contre, si vous louez un 4x4 ou empruntez un mini-bus touristique (van pour 6-8 avec clim, arrêt dans une ou deux échoppes en route, etc.), prévoyez un budget beaucoup plus conséquent.
De notre côté, on a passé trois semaines à circuler au Costa-Rica en août-septembre 2003 en bus, en van et même en bateau! Il faut savoir que la plupart des bus passent et repassent et repassent encore par San José: pour aller du sud au nord, pour aller de l'ouest à l'est, pour aller de l'est au nord, etc. A chaque fois qu'on avait une liaison directe, on a donc choisi le bus et circulé pour un budget minime. San José-Bateau Tortuguero, San José-Jaco, San José-Arenal, etc.
Par contre, quand on a voulu perdre le moins de temps possible et ne pas repasser par San José, pour aller par exemple d'Arenal (nord) à Tamarindo (ouest), on a pris des places dans un van "touristique". Et là, c'était dans les 20-25 dollars par personne. Les locations de 4x4, de leur coté, sont aussi loin d'être données...
A mon avis, vous avez intérêt de mixer ces deux moyens de locomotion pour perdre un minimum d'argent et de temps vu que vous n'avez qu'une semaine. Si votre itinéraire n'est pas trop compliqué, vous pouvez peut être même toute faire en bus. Un seul conseil: ne vous attardez pas trop à San José, vous le regretteriez...

Je continue a penser que pour eux la meilleure facon est de louer une auto surtout qu'elles sont trois a partager les frais. Parfaitement d'accord, san jose est une ville a eviter.
Vu que vous avez qu'une semaine la voiture est primordial a moins de rester dans la capitale?Le prix pour un 4x4 avec assurance environ 600$ cad tax.comprise mais attention la conduite est completement differente qu'ici et les routes sont de bonnes a excecrables surtout vers le nord-est.....
Pour l'hébergement avec un bon guide genre routard ou lonely planet vous allez trouver plein d'endroits tres abordables a coucher...........
Mais une semaine c'est vraiement court bof ca va vous donner le gout de revenir😉
le cout de jeep est est plutot 360 us -5 pourcent en payant cash (full assurance) comme dit denis,
Une semaine c est cour, , je te conseille de te loger a Jaco c est un bon point central (pour une semaine) pour rider au costa !! et avec un jeep tu decouvrira des coin hors tousiste, que perdre ton temp en bus!! le Bus est genial quand ont part plus longtemp que une semaine!!!! a la proxima NICK

Ca va surement nous en donner un avant-goût, et peut-être nous donner le gout d'y retourner plus longtemps plus tard.
Autre petites questions, pour conduire la bas, est-ce que ca prend un permis de conduire international, ou un permis du Québec ca va ????
En fait, on n'a pas déterminé notre itinéraire, ce qu'il y a de certain c'est qu'on loge le 1er soir a San Jose, probablement au Costa Rica backpacker, puis la bas on va bien voir !
pas de probleme pour le permit, celui du Quebec est acepté la bas !! tu connait les shutle?? c est un mini bus (a vous seul) qui t atend a l aeroport sous reservation et te mene sur de tres longue distance pour 60 $, en arrivant a l aeroport il peut aller vous conduire a un cabinas de votre choix et vous eviterez de perdre une nuit de vacance a san josée, et c est cool car en arrivant ont a pas toujour le gout de se casser la tete!! san josée c est essouflant poluer et bruillant et ruff !! et je suis pas peureux et meme moi je trouve ca ruff!! !! bon voyage!!!!
Moi je me suis fait grandement conseillé d'aller plus du côt des caraïbes que du Pacifique, car selon ce contact la mer du côt pâcifique est plutot dangereuse et moins belle.
Et d'éviter Jaco beach, parce que c'est trop touristique.
Devrais-je me fier a ces conseils ???
Aussi, nous on arrive vers 22hpm a San Jose donc quelle ville nous conseille tu pour aller dormir, autre que San Jose, mais qui est pas a 2-3h de route, pour qu'ont se couche tot histoire de commencer notre premiere journée de bonne heure ????
Aussi, autres question je suis énormément arachnophobe, quels sont les conseils a suivre pour ne pas tomber face a une tarentule ou une veuve noire bref une grosse araignée ????

C'est vrai que jaco est un peu peuplé mais comme le dit tico c'est un bon endroit pour partir dans différentes directions. Ca depend ce que tu recherches . Moi on m'avait dit de ne pas aller a limon parce que beaucoup de jeunes avec des rastas et moins sécuritaire. Par contre de l'autre coté beaucoup d'américains. personnellement nous avons aimés les plages cote pacifique dans le guanacaste a samara playa, encore une fois cela depend ce que tu recherches il y en a pour tous les gouts. Si tu le peux evite san josé et passe la premiere nuit plutot a aljuela.

The idea is to be self-sufficient for sightseeing and stops while still being able to access certain lodges or beaches that require a 4x2.

We’re planning a 4x4 trip from Belgium to Central Asia, passing through Georgia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
For these countries, our national insurance obviously doesn’t cover the vehicle, so we’ll need to get local insurance.
Will it be a problem if the vehicle is registered under person A and the national insurance is under person B? Both A and B will be in the vehicle, and both will be listed as drivers on the insurance.
When we get the local insurance, if we again list A and B as drivers, does the order matter? Could we get stuck at the border for this reason?

For those who’ve driven on Iceland’s gravel roads in their own or a rented Duster, could you tell me what tires were fitted on the vehicle?
Were they All Terrain tires or more "standard" ones like all-season tires, for example?
Follow-up question: if they were "standard" tires, did that cause any issues on the gravel roads and rough terrain?

I’m planning a trip to Iceland for next July-August, with a car and tent, and I’m wondering about booking campsites.
From your experience, is it necessary or even essential to book campsites in advance, or do you always manage to find a spot to pitch your tent?
We’ll also have the option to sleep in the car without pitching the tent.
Does that give us the flexibility to stay outside a campsite for a night here and there?

I’m planning a road trip in the Middle Atlas, starting and ending in Fez and heading down to the south of Midelt, the Assoul Massif.... We’ll be traveling with two small 4x4s.
I’m looking for detailed maps of this region that include small roads and tracks.
Last year, we had a fantastic road trip in the Anti-Atlas and High Atlas using Erfahren maps, but unfortunately, they don’t cover the area we’re interested in this year.

We’re planning a 13-day family road trip in Morocco this July, with six people in a Toyota Prado 4x4 (renting in Marrakech).
We’ll alternate between bivouacking and small hotels/riads depending on the stops.
Here’s the planned route (in this order):

Our goal:
Atlas Mountains + desert + dunes + plateaus + valleys + a bit of coastline.
We’ll cover about 1,700 km in total.
We’re planning:
Bivouacking in the Chegaga/Iriki area
Flexible for the rest (booking the day before or same day)
Sand gear: traction plates, compressor, tow strap, roof rack
Questions:
Is the Zagora → Chegaga → Iriki → Foum Zguid crossing in July doable on our own (single vehicle, no guide)?
Are there any truly technical or risky sections between Chegaga and Iriki?
Does the overall itinerary seem manageable in 13 days without rushing?
Any suggestions for great bivouac spots or particularly interesting stops along this route?
The points on the route are provisional overnight stops. Some spots will include two nights in the same area.
We’re used to off-road driving, but not yet in the Moroccan desert.

We’re struggling a bit with timing and choosing activities for the part of the trip between Sesriem and Brandberg.
Day 1: Sesriem to Mirabib
Day 2: Mirabib to Swakopmund – visit Swakopmund, overnight in Swakopmund
Day 3: Sandwich Harbour – overnight in Swakopmund
Day 4: Kayaking with the seals + the living dunes – overnight in Swakopmund
Day 5: Moon Landscape, Henties Bay + Cape Cross – overnight at White Lady Lodge in Brandberg
Does this itinerary seem realistic to you? Is Cape Cross really worth the trip? If I had to choose between Cape Cross and kayaking with the seals, which would you recommend?

However, the rental agencies we’ve found prohibit driving on the tracks to Omalo (Tusheti) and/or Ushguli (Svaneti).

I’d love to visit Gonarezhou National Park—I see there are two sectors: the Mwenezi Region in the south and the area around the Runde River in the north. Should I cover both sectors or just focus on the northern region?
For the parks along the Zambezi River, is it better to visit Mana Pools on the Zimbabwe side or Lower Zambezi on the Zambia side?

A well-prepped 4x4, a travel plan across Africa in stages since I’ve got kids to see regularly and work to earn a living.
I’m leaving in November for about a month with the goal of reaching Senegal via Mauritania. I’d love to share this trip with someone who wants to discover Mauritania and a bit of Senegal... and also experience life on board a 4x4 in the desert or bush, sometimes sleeping in the vehicle or in hostels/small hotels for comfort. My trip to South Africa is starting to take shape.
However, I'm struggling to figure out the route through Kruger Park. I can't seem to find the information I need about getting around.
Coming from the south, I plan to arrive on Day 1 in the early afternoon at Malelane or Crocodile Bridge.
Do some shopping in Malelane (or Crocodile Bridge main area) and stay overnight outside the park.
Leave on Day 2 at 5 AM for the park. Explore the southern part of the park.
Stay overnight around Skukuza or Lower Sabie. (We don’t want to stay in one of the park’s big camps. We’re looking for a lodge around 200 €.
Head out on Day 3 for a self-drive safari, maybe as far as Orpen.
We’d like to stay in a private reserve on nights 4 and 5.
We’re not sure which one or how to get into a private reserve. Do we need to exit Kruger Park?
On Day 5, we’d like to leave to visit Blyde Canyon (on Day 6).

I’m finalizing my trip starting from Namibia.
When I arrive in Divundu, I’d like to head straight to the Khwai area early in the morning to one of the campsites in the Khwai Development Trust. Is the drive doable with a good 4x4 in a day?
We’ll spend 2 nights in Khwai, then 2 or maybe 3 nights in the Moremi area (Third Bridge/Xakanaxa/Mboma) before heading back to Maun to wrap up our journey.
Is that too much time to spend in each place?
We’d also like to do one or two boat excursions in the delta. Any suggestions for the best options and operators?
