J'envisage de parti 15 jours au Costa Rica au mois d'août (18 au 31).
Je prévois de participer à un circuit organisé:Parc National du Volcan Irazu/Trek dans la vallée du Rio Savegre /mangrove du Rio Tarcoles + côte pacifique /Trek dans le Parc National Rincon de la Vieja / Volcan Arenal / San José.
J'ai lu beaucoup de négatif sur lé météo à cette période du coup je m'interroge sur la pertinence ou non de partir à cette période, compte-tenu du circuit non modifiable qui est envisagé.

Pour la météo en Août au Costa Rica c'est tout à fait supportable. J'y suis allée 15 jours en 2011.
Toujours de la chaleur et l'humidité ambiante mais pas trop sauf à Tortuguero (mais tu ne comptes pas y aller ?).
Il a fait très chaud dans la région de Liberia, particulièrement au bord du Pacifique et sur le volcan Rincon De la Vieja.
En général la pluie arrivait dans l'après midi par averses de quelques minutes à quelques heures (et aussi la nuit !). Mais il n'a pas plut tous les jours ! Et il faisait plutôt frais dans les montagnes.
Sincèrement, le climat est loin d'être insupportable ou handicapant pour les transports (on a roulé la nuit sous une pluie diluvienne, ça ne nous a pas empêché d'arriver à bon port).
Le Costa Rica est un pays magnifique, de plus la saison humide permet de profiter de la végétation luxuriante ! Ce serait dommage de s'en priver pour quelques pluies !
Plutôt d'accord avec T13 mais même si ça dépend des année le mois d'aout est tout de même très humide... Le mieux à cette période est de rester davantage sur la cote Caraibes qui n'a pas vraiment de saison des pluies (la météo est la même presque toute l'année) et d'éviter les zones situées sur la division continentale (là où viennent buter les nuages qui arrives du Pacifique ou des Caraïbes...
Sinon cette année nous avons une météo plutôt clémente, j'étais en Pacifique sud la semaine dernière et il faisait très beau sauf un gros gros orage en mer... et en Caraïbe sud il y a trois semaine beau temps aussi... Sinon dans la vallée centrale (où je vie) nous profitons actuellement du veranillo (une trêve dans la saison des pluies) mais ça ne va pas durer...
Pour moi le mois d'aout n'est pas le meilleur moment car tout de même touristique et malgré tout très arrosé.
Le versant Caraibe du Rincon de la Vieja sera c'est certain tout le temps sous la pluie... par contre tu as de grandes chances d'avoir du beau temps du coté Pacifique.
Je viens au costa rica à la fin de semaine. Nous avons prévu une excursion sur Tortugueros en début de séjour puis retour sur San José pour récupérer un 4*4. Nous n'avons pas vraiment défini de parcours pour improviser sur place. J'ai vu que vous y viviez. J'aimerais me faire une idée de ce qui nous attend niveau météo sur place. Quelles sont les bonnes régions à visiter en ce moment? Le nord, le Pacifique?
En ce moment il faut aller sur les caraïbes et d'une façon générale rester sur les côtes en évitant d'être trop prêt de la division continentale car il y pleut beaucoup. Mais sincèrement cette année tu as de la chance il y a très peu d'eau et c'est en toute fin de journée ou la nuit en général.

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Not sure if guidebooks, agencies, and other tour operators are keeping up by changing their visiting hours and offerings.
Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊
