Nous sommes un jeune couple, et nous avons acheté 2 billets Aller / retour Marseille Tunis.
Je ne voulais pas forcément prendre un hôtel et être dépendant un peu.
Donc j'ai préféré prendre seulement les billets.
Nous souhaitons faire une découverte de la tunisie, mais aussi faire un beau séjour sans forcément
tout découvrir 2 semaines (en Avril 2009).
J'aimerai avoir vos avis et conseils concernant plusieurs points sur lesquels je réfléchis en ce moment :
Je vais louer une voiture, c'est sûr, mais quel agence prendre ?
Je pense réserver en avance ?
Mais je ne sais pas lequel choisir...
Qules sont vos avis ? avez-vous eu des soucis ?
En fait mon projet d'itinéraire serait comme cela :
Arrivée à Tunis le soir :
2 nuits à Tunis en plein centre ville (Carlton Hotel)
visite de Tunis même, alors prendre un guide ou pas ?
Puis 7 nuits à Hammamet dans une villa ou apart
Soleil, plage, visite d'Hammamet, Nabeul, Kairouan, Monastir, Sousse durant ces 7 jours
une ou deux journées de Thalasso aussi si vous connaissez des adresses...
Ensuite 2 nuits à Tozeur
Découverte de Tozeur et Nefta, prendre un guide ?
Peut-on monter sur des dromadaires vers Tozeur et aussi faire du Quad sur le désert
ou est-ce plutôt dans une autre ville ? J'aimerai vraiment faire découvrir ces 2 activités à ma femme.
Retour vers Tunis pour 2 nuits à Sidi Bou Said
découverte de cette jolie petite ville et de Bizerte
J'aimerai vos avis svp sur cet itinéraire....
Pouvez vous me donner des conseils, des astuces, des contacts, des adresses à ne pas louper,
de bons restos (à pas trop cher forcément), ce qu'il faut éviter... tout conseil ou des choses que vous avez aimer,
et des préférences d'hotel (qui ont 1 grande chambre double propre avec baignoire si possible)

Tes projets semblent intéressants mais je ne vois pas trop l'intérêt de rester 1 semaine à Hammamet dans le but de prendre la route tous les jours.
Il serait plus judicieux d'y passer 2/3 jours puis de partir vers Kairouan/Sousse/Monastir et d'y rester 2/3 jours. A moins d'être super bien logés à Hammamet. Sachez que vos nuits d'hôtel risquent de vous coûter très chères. Peut-être aurait-il mieux valu prendre un package vol+ hôtel, quitte à ne pas utiliser toutes les accomodations de l'hôtel et ajouter une semaine libre.
Pour Tunis, le Carlton est une bonne adresse, bien située. Inutile de prendre un guide, un guide papier fait l'affaire. Tout est indiqué en français et presque tout le monde peut te renseigner. Si tu es sur tunis un samedi matin, il y a une guide qui fait découvrir la médina de façon très intéressante. Il faut avoir retenu avant.
Pour le sud, prévoir plus de 2 jours si vous voulez profiter un peu. C'est environ 400 km de Hammamet. Peut-être est-il plus intéressant d'aller vers Douz que vers Tozeur pour les chameaux, les dunes et les quads.
Tozeur est très intéressant pour aller dans les oasis de montagne, mais il faut du temps.
Pour Sidi Bou Saïd, bien sûr étape obligatoire et Bizerte très sympa mais à 60 km, tu peux aller par autoroute sur une journée.
Pour la voiture de loc, nous avons l'habitude de louer chez Camel car, jamais d'ennui mais nous n'avons jamais eu d'accident...Faire faire un devis par internet. Pas besoin de voiture quand vous serez sur Tunis : taxi, métro, etc...
Si vous voulez de bonnes adresses quand votre projet sera plus abouti, je partagerai volontiers.

moi aussi je pense qu'il vaut mieux rester 2/3 jours à Hammamet partir à Sousse-Monastir ensuite Kairouan ensuite le sud, au lieu de faire la navette tous les jours. Et puis remonter vers Sidi bou Said, et surtout ne pas oublier Carthage😉, et la Marsa (juste à côté à 2km), d'ailleurs, je connais une chambre d'hôte très sympa là bas, si cela vous intéresse, je peux vous donner l'adresse pour les contacter, ainsi vous découvrirez pour quelques jours la vie tunisienne au quotidien.
pour la location voiture je prends également camel car, souvent la réservation n'est pas nécessaire, tu peux louer la voiture directement en arrivant à l'aéroport, leur voiture ne sont pas toujours en bon état apparant, mais aucun problème mécanique et ce sont les moins chers, par contre fait attention à l'état des pneus et roue de secours.
Je comprends que tu veuilles rester à hamamet pour te reposer et visiter les alentours, c'est un bon choix. Si tu veux voir un peu de désert prévoit 4 à 5 heures de route et va jusqu'à ZAAFRANE.
Tozeur est une très belle ville mais tu n'auras pas le temps de tout voir.

Je vous déconseille la halte à Hammamet/ Nabeul, à moins que vous ne soyez des passionnés de poteries ou que celle ville vous soit importante pour des raisons personnelles (racines, ...).
Hammamet est surtout une zone touristique (beaucoup d'hotels + plages). Or, je suis déjà allée en Tunisie dans la période de mars/avril . Il ne fait pas très chaud à Hammamet en cette période. Vous ne profiterez pas des plages et il n'y a pas encore non plus tous les touristes de l'été si c'est cela que vous recherchez... La partie Monastir-Sousse c'est un peu la même chose. Vous pouvez vous contenter d'une seule halte parmi les 2.
Je vous conseille plutôt de passer directement par Kairouan (souk et mosquée) puis Gafsa pour passer plus de temps dans le sud (où il fera une température plus agréable).
Dans le Sud, vous pourrez faire du chameau, du 4x4, des balades en calèches dans les palmeraies ou du quad, sans réserver auparavant (à négocier !!).
Les incontournables pour moi sont le Chott EL djerid (désert de sel entre Tozeur et Douz), Douz et son désert (de sable), Matmata (s'arrêter à l'hotel Star Wars mais ne pas y dormir sauf si vous êtes des passionés de la trilogie..).
Pour la thalasso, vous pouvez en faire à Tozeur ou encore à Djerba (il y fera plus chaud). La partie Chebika Tamerza est très sympa aussi.
Attention: Hammamet - Matmata = environ 7 heures de trajet en voiture. Comptez du 80 km/h. De plus les routes sont assez monotones entre Kairouan et Gafsa (la Tunisie est très plate) ou entre Hammamet - El Jem et Matmata.

- Why do so many people recommend avoiding international agencies for car rentals? Can anyone explain why?
- Is Booking.com reliable, and has anyone rented a vehicle through their service? There’s a pretty big price difference compared to local Moroccan agencies.
- Is there a detailed road map included in the rental car?
- Is Google Maps enough to get around the High Atlas? This will be my first trip there.

I’ve read through the various discussions about the country, but I’m still a bit unsure🤪: for currency exchange, I saw on the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that withdrawing currency with a bank card from ATMs is limited to 200 TND per week. There are four of us traveling by car, so that might be a bit tight! And it’s a hassle to carry a lot of cash, even if I’m not being paranoid! What do you all recommend?

I’m leaving for Tunisia in five weeks for a full 15-day trip. I’ll be arriving in Monastir and departing from there as well.
I’d like to do a route that’s a bit different from my first stay, which was more focused on cities and culture (Tunis, Sousse, Kairouan, El Jem).
I’ll be getting around by public transport.
I’d like to head south toward Tozeur, and I saw that you can take a *louage* from Monastir to Sbeitla (2h30). I imagine it’s not too complicated to get to Tozeur from there afterward? The issue is the return trip to Monastir and safety in Sbeitla.
If this route seems too complicated, I might opt for Djerba instead, which looks simpler.

From what I can tell, everything is well connected by bus (CTM) or train (ONCF).
Another question: Is the vibe in Moroccan youth hostels for meeting people the same as what you’d find in Western Europe?

(though there are fraudulent sites out there). On the official site, they ask for legitimate info
(name, nationality, etc.). What made me go "hmm" was the request for both an email address

A lot of people find it important to stick to their budget when traveling—not to skimp, but to visit as many places as possible since traveling is their hobby.
In this post, I want to share some tips for those coming to Morocco who want their trip to be budget-friendly.
1. Prebook everything: hotels or riads, car rentals, or tours. If you book these in advance, it’ll make your life easier. You won’t have to deal with hagglers or people trying to overcharge you for services that are available online for free. Use platforms like Booking, Expedia, carsrental.ma, Airbnb, and other booking services to get this done properly.
2. Exchange your money to Moroccan dirhams as soon as you land. 1 € is always a little over 10 dirhams, but many people get charged as if it were exactly 10 dirhams per euro.
3. When visiting an old site or the old medina, avoid talking to vendors and shop owners—they’re really good at getting your attention and making you overpay for things.
4. Ask your tour guide to buy things for you. Yes, they do get a commission, but you’ll probably pay way more if you buy something yourself that they can get cheaply.
5. Walk everywhere. You don’t need a taxi for every little trip. Pick a good location and walk—most Moroccan cities are safe during normal hours.
6. Buy your food, drinks, etc., from supermarkets at normal prices. They can’t overcharge you since they scan every product.
