Quand a savoir si un hôpital offre des soins de qualite, ceci est une autre question. Perso, je ne pense pas qu'un hôpital offre des soins de mauvaises qualites mais offre des soins selon les cas et si le cas est trop important pour lui, il fera ce qu'il doit faire. Un hôpital sur un coin de terre au milieu de la mer ne peux pas avoir toutes les technologies disponibles, ceci est également valable en France. Meme certains CHU n'ont pas la totale, ce qui impose un transfert pour certains patients.
Un ami a du essayer un hopital a Koh Chang. C'etait au mois de novembre.
Il s'est ouvert la main après une chute.
Il a du se faire recoudre plus des soins tous les jours pour changer le pansement.
Il a été satisfait de la prise en charge et de la qualité des soins.
Désolé, je n'ai plus le nom de l'hopital. Mais n'importe qui sur l'ile pourra vous aiguiller sur place si besoin. Le staff de l'hotel par exemple.
En quelle période allez vous partir, il se peut qu'en basse saison, les effectifs de l'hopital soit réduits.
En cas de probleme sérieux, j'imagine que sur la terre ferme (Trat), il y aura aussi tout ce dont vous auriez besoin.

Pour information, j'ai dû être opérée d'une fracture du poignet en 2003 au Cambodge. J'ai dû payer en dollars l'intervention et la nuit d'hôpital (2OO dollars). Quand je suis revenue en France, j'ai envoyé la facture des soins à la S.S. qui m'a complètement remboursée.
Dans la mesure où les médecins déconseillent de voyager sous les tropiques avec des nourrissons, la question d'un hôpital de qualité à proximité ne devrait pas se poser. En gros, avant 1 an votre enfant est en risque constant, et certains pédiatres recommandent même d'attendre 2 ans. De mon côté, j'ai patienté jusqu'aux 16 mois de ma fille.

A 4 mois, les problèmes médicaux peuvent vite se compliquer, en environnement "hostile" , et les recours seront dans les grands centres, qui sont loin.
L'intéressée a-t-elle posé la question à un centre médecine-voyages? Il y a beaucoup de choses à discuter en direct. Pour un voyage professionnel ou une expat, en particulier. Pour un voyage touristique, le rapport risque-interêt est là aussi à discuter clairement.
C'est en effet un choix prudent, après il y a des milliers d'enfants qui naissent sous les tropiques.

Personnellement, je ne suis pas médecin et je transmets simplement des conseils donnés par les médecins eux-mêmes. A 4 mois, le moindre pépin peut être dramatique.
Par ailleurs, la mortalité infantile est 3 fois plus élevée en Thaïlande qu'en France (je ne connais pas les chiffres du Canada). Les parents thaïs ont aussi d'autres plannings que des touristes occidentaux. Vous verrez par exemple très peu de nourrissons sortis pendant la journée. Donc globalement, on ne peut pas comparer bébés occidentaux en voyage en Thaïlande et bébés thaïs y vivant à l'année.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
