Je souhaite partir en février (héhé il fait froid) dans un ou plusieurs de ces pays nordiques, j'aurais besoin de conseils!
Je ne peux partir que 15 jours et seul, sans permi de conduire... Y-a-t-il quelqu'un qui a déja effectué un voyage par là bas dans ces mêmes conditions? Avion, train, pied.. je suis open pour le reste!
Le probleme c'est que je n'ai que 15 jours, j'aurais aimé longer la cote ouest de la norvege jusqu'au nord de la russie mais c'est beaucoup trop long... Que me conseillez vous comme trajet?
J'aimerais voir des beaux paysages, glaciers, animaux, villages typiques...
Peut etre que je devrais essayer la russie?

Elle va surement bien commencer si tu vas dans le nord...
J'ai fait les 4 pays, mais pas à cette époque, sauf la finlande.
La norvège, c'est sublime, mais 15 jours, c'est peu. Si tu as les moyens, tu peux directement aller dans le nord, tu fais les iles lofoten et peut-être tu pousses jusqu'au cap nord. Les lofoten sont une série d'îles aux villages typiques. Par contre, si tu vas trés au nord, n'oublie pas que les jours y seront trés trés court.
L'islande, tu peux faire les grands spots, mais à mon avis seule la route principale du pays sera ouverte. avec le temps, je ne sais pas ce que tu pourras faire niveau ballade.
La finlande me parait une bonne alternative, helsinky, c'est génial, tu vas un peu plus dans le nord, au bord des lacs, te faire des saunas et plonger dans le fameux trou qu'ril font dans le lac gelé. C'est une expérience géniale. Enfin, va au nord, tu pourras faire des ballades.
Evites la suede.
Par contre, prévois un beau budget, dans ces pays, tout est trés cher et vu le temps, mieux vaudra avoir les moyens d'être confortable au chaud.
Par contre, il y a des refuges pour les promeneurs, essaie de te renseigner pour savoir s'ils sont ouverts en hiver. C'est moins cher, et trés agréable, surtout des bonnes étapes si tu veux te faire des ballades de plusieurs jours.
Veinard, je t'envie ces pays sont géniaux et les gens trés rudes et attachants.
Concernant la russie, si tu penses à la même région, frontalière de la finlande et de la norvège j'ai cru comprendre que les paysages y étaient assez abimés.

PS si tu vas dans les lofotens (le paradis terrestre) ne manque pas la youth hostel de stamsund, si c'est ouvert, c'est comme à la maison. On te prete même un bateau pour aller pecher.

En fait je n'avais pas pensé a aller dans le "sud" comme helsinki, je voulais aller en laponie directement.. Donc d'apres toi les paysages de laponie seraient abimés? au depart je voulais aller quelquepart entre tromso et mourmansk et longer la côte mais je ne sais pas si c'est possible, sais-tu s'il y a des trains faisant ce trajet? Et tu y es allée en hiver? je ne suis jamais allé a des températures frolant -30, -40.. est-ce si terrible?
tu m'as parlé des lacs de finlande, est-ce plutot touristique ou typique? ya t-il une grande difference de climat entre helsinki et le nord? en fait j'aimerais etre baigné dans latmosphère du grand nord... vraiment me trouver dans ce grand nord que je vois toujours dans les reportages mais qui me laisse reveur... Dois-je aller obligatoirement en laponie pour cela? les iles lofoten c'est ou exactement? je n'ai pas trop compri mais si c le paradis...

bonjour, j'ai traversé à pied tous ces pays ( dont la Finlande l'hiver à ski de rando ) et ce sont des coins fabuleux, surtout l'hiver . Ce serait idiot d'éviter la Suede ...
j'ai dormi sous tente en Laponie par -40, c'est tres faisable si ton matos est de tres bonne qualité . il existe en Suede des petits abris ( windskud ) qui t'évitent de planter la tente, il y en a sur tous les chemins de rando ( penses à avoir des cartes ! ) et de grands refuges ouverts en Finlande dans les parcs naturels .
les lofoten et leur fameuse AJ sont magnifiques ( le patron s'appelle Roar, super sympa, super convivial ) . les prix norvégiens et Suedois sont beaucoup plus élevés qu'en France ( pour la Finlande, c'est quasiment la meme chose ) . si tu as des questions concernant un itinéraire n'hésites pas ...
en Finlande, tu peux résider dans l'AJ de Sotkamo, il y a facilement 1 semaine de balades tres sauvages autour .
En fait je n'ai malheureusement que deux semaines. mais je pense que ça peut tout de meme me laisser le temps de voir de belles choses. Mais je suis un peu confu quant à l'itinéraire qu'il faut choisir... Est-ce facile de bouger à l'interieur des pays? (il y a des voies de chemins de fer un peu partout?)
Pour l'itinéraire, j'hésite entre rester les quinze jours dans le nord de la norvege (lofoten etc..) ou bien une semaine de traversée en long de la finlande ou de la suede puis une semaine en norvege dans le nord. Les fjords de suede sont reputés.. qu'en penses-tu ?
Si je fais la deuxieme possibilité, je pourrais eventuellement voir les fjords et helsinki, stockholm ou oslo mais je ne sais pas si ca vaut le coup. J'hésite..
Pour l'hébergement, je pense que j'irai dans les AJ, est-ce qu'il y en a un peu partout?
ce sont les fjords de Norvege qui sont réputés, et le plus célebre ( le Geiranger fjord ) est au milieu de la Norvege .
ce qui vaut vraiment le coup, à mon avis, ce sont les Lofoten et la Laponie . Attention toutefois en Laponie, c'est désert, froid et potentiellement dangereux de s'y aventurer sans préparation ( - 40 quand on est TRES bien équipé, c'est jouable sinon, il vaut mieux oublier ! ) . pour les aj en Finlande, il y a de tout : du plus glauque ( à Utsjoki ) au plus sympa ( Rovaniemi ou Sotkamo ) . au niveau des transports, passé une certaine hauteur dans le nord, il n'y a plus de train mais des lignes d'autocar partout . En Norvege, il y a l'express cotier qui fontionne toute l'année et qui fait office d'omnibus entre les différents ports ( on peut dormir dans le bateau meme sans cabine ) .
tu peux te passer de voir Helsinki ( son aj est par contre super sympa quoique excentrée ), Stockholm est plutot sympa et je ne connais pas Oslo, , par contre Bergen est pas mal ( aj hors de prix comme partout en Norvege, donc à Bergen le moins cher c'est le YMCA ) .
j'ain traversé la Finlande en tractant une pulka, donc en un sens, je connais le traineau ! en fait, j'ai une meute de chiens nordiques et je pratique le mushing en France, avec un projet de 4 semaines avec mes chiens l'année prochaine en Finlande en bivouac et autonomie !!

Finalement apres m'être documenté je pense partir en norvege (ryanair: frankfurt-oslo allez retour= 50euros environ, ça vaut le coup!)
De Oslo, j'irai jusqu'aux lofoten en bus et en express cotier puis je reviens pareil.
Sais-tu qu'est-ce qui est le plus rapide et les prix environ?
D'apres toi quel est le meilleur moyen de transport? Ou combiner les deux...

Je n'ai jamais testé moins de -20°C, est-ce si terrible? Peut-on vite s'habituer et rester dehors sans probleme? Ou ca demande de l'experience? Parceque je ne veux pas souffrir dehors non plus.. aaah mais j'ai tellement envie d'y aller ... faut pas les ecouter non?
Est-ce que le matos de decathlon (geologic) est du bon matos? Pke je pense macheter sac de couchage et veste, je pars pas en expedition non plus faut pas dramatiser la chose....

je sais qu'il existe une ligne d'avion qui mene aux lofoten ou pas loin, l'express cotier s'y arrete ( et il y a plusieurs bateaux par jour ), je pense qu'il y a des bus, mais pas de certitude ( je l'avais fait à pied et en express cotier .
l'express cotier s'arrete sur les lieux touristiques ( geiranger fjord qu'il remonte tout le long ) et autre .
concernant les prix, il faut savoir que c'est extremement cher ! ( je ne pense pas me tromper beaucoup en disant au moins le double de la France ! ) donc pour les aj, tu as interet à avoir ta carte ( je crois que ça accorde des réductions ) .
concernant le froid, la Norvege profite du gulf stream, donc il y fait moins froid qu'en Suede ou qu'en Finlande, et bien équipé il n'y a pas de probleme . En revanche, je ne suis pas certain que décathlon convienne...( à titre d'exemple, un duvet qui t'annonce qu'il " tient " à -20, sera confortable à -5 !!), à mon avis, n'hésite pas à investir ( au vieux campeur ou à expe ), tu ne le regretteras pas . et puis, les aj sont chauffées ! ( à moins que tu n'ai l'intention de planter la tente...ce que j'ai fait, et je suis toujours vivant ! )
le froid n'est vraiment pas un probleme si tu sais te couvrir juste ce qu'il faut pour ne pas suer quand tu bouges ( par -20, la transpiration gele des qu'on s'arrete et c'est pas tres marrant ) et que tu as toujours des fringues seches à portée de main . ( et je ne te cache pas que j'ai des dotes sur la qualité du matos vendu à décathlon . ) . pense à avoir des sous vetements respirants, polaires, une veste en gore tex ( ça respire et ça coupe le vent ) .
si tu penses planter la tente ou que tu as es questioins concernant le matos n'hésites pas...
je relis ton message, et j'ai juste un dernier mot sur le froid . on s'habitue d'autant mieux au froid quand on sait qu'on va dormir au chaud le soir !!!
Pour partir ds les Lofoten je pense que le mieux c'est aller par avion de Bergen à Bodo et ensuite prendre express cotier.Tu peux ensuite aller avec express cotier jusqu'à la frontiére russe:Kirkenes(Laponie ou plutot terre des sames).Fabuleux voyage et en plus tu auras la chance de voir certainement les aurores boréales.Il faut aller sur le site "HURTIGRUWEB"ou tu auras toutes les web cam du pays et toutes les températures heure par heure.

sinon pour le hurtigruten, ils ne donnent que des croisieres a 3000euros sur leur site... les billets se prennent sur place non? vous n'avez pas des exemples de trajet-prix que vous avez effectué? j'ai vu que beaucoup de jeunes ne prenaient pas de cabines et dormaient sur le pont du bateau.. c'est possible en hiver ca??
kahru, pour le camping est-ce qu'on a besoin d'une bonne tente ou une simple suffit? je ne pense pas que ça change grand chose sur la temperature... sur l'impermabilité peut etre... est-ce important d'en avoir une bonne? toi tu dois avoir un poil a bois avec une cheminée a tous les coups dans ta tente non?
il neige souvent dans le sud et le nord? est-ce qu'il arrive de pleuvoir a cette periode dans le sud?
je n'ai pas payé 3000 euros pour monter sur l'express cotier !! ( mais je n'ai pas fait la croisiere ...) et je dormais sur le pont du bateau, ce qui veut dire dans les couloirs ou sur les banquettes ( il faut s'y installer quand il n'y a plus personne dans les salons et se lever avant l'arrivée des passagers )
il vaut mieux, pour dormir en Norvege l'hiver, une tres bonne tente 4 saisons . la temperature ne change pas, mais il n'y a pas de condensation, elles tiennent au vent et supportent le poids de la neige . De toute façon, il n'ya pas de camping ouvert l'hiver en Norvege ( pas que je me souvienne ! ), il faut demander aux habitants l'autorisation de planter la tente sur un terrain . mais les campings proposent souvent des petits chalets toute l'année . et oui, il y a de la neige dans le nord ( j'ai eu ma derniere tempete au mois de mai juste avant d'arriver au geiranger qui n'est pas tres au nord !!!)
quant à mon poele à bois, il reste dans la maison ( je ne me chauffe qu'avec ça ) mais j'ai une tres bonne tente et, depuis la Finlande, du tres bon matos pour l'hiver ( acheté sur place, à Stockolm et à Helsinki )

bonjour, pour un duvet présenté comme à -23, ça veut dire confortable à -15 et c'est vrai qu'il a l'air lourd...mais franchement, je ne penses pas que tu regretteras le poids une fois que tu seras dedans !
coté temps de jour, ça doit etre ça ( 6h), mais quand j'y suis allé, il n'y a eu que tres peu de jours avec soleil, ce qui accentue évidemment l'impression de nuit perpetuelle .
je ne me souviens pas du prix de l'express cotier, et j'ai pu l'utiliser donc ça devait etre abordable pour mon budjet ( en 98, c'était environ 3000f par mois, ça n'a pas été facile de le tenir en Norvege et en Islande, mais ça a marché !!)

il y a une super aj aux iles lofoten et il doit y avoir moyen de planter la tente . quant à la météo, c'est " à priori" jouable, mais vous pouvez encore avoir de la neige . les routes seront dégagées et c'est tres agréable de pédaler dans ce coin ( j'avais louer un vtt pour 2 jours, le pied !!) .

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
