Personnellement, je trouve dommage de "passer" uniquement par Lafayette... Bon, après c'est mes goûts personnels, mais si vous avez l'occasion d'assister à un ptit concert cajun ou de visiter le bayou (la visite depuis Lafayette est de bien meilleure qualité que celle depuis New Orleans), ça vaut quand même le coup...
Pour San Francisco, j'ai entendu dire que l'Hostelling International de Fisherman's Wharf ou l'hostel Adelaïde sont de très bon endroits où rester. J'ai de mon côté passé 3 nuits à l'Hostelling International "City Center", qui a la particularité d'être au milieu de ce qui est considéré comme le pire quartier de San Francisco, et je m'y suis bien plu... Je n'ai pas trouvé ça dangereux du tout, mais je sais que tout le monde n'est pas de mon avis.

Franchement, je n'ai pas envie de le simuler sur Google Maps ; si tu le fais et donne le lien, on pourra en discuter.
Perso, en 60 jours, j'en fais beaucoup moins et pourtant je retourne quasiment au même endroit 😎. C'est peut-être que nous n'avons pas la même façon de voyager 😉.
Je trouve la partie dans l'est des USA un peu bizarre. Si tu ne connais pas encore NY, je passerais au moins 2 jours additionels dans la ville. Si tu n'as pas envie de faire des visites entre NY et Washington (par exemple pays Amish, Philly), je prendrais un bus pour le trajet entre NY & Wash. Pas besoin d'une voiture ni a NY ni a Wash. Et j'ajouterais au moins un jour a Washington.
Wash->Orlando dans une journee? C'est fou. Je passerais un jour a Charleston et puis un jour a Savannah. Ces 2 villes sont les plus belles villes du sud-est du pays. Pour moi, les deux sont plus agreables que Miami ou Key West (pas mal, Key West, mais pas vaut le grand detour dans ton cas). Et puis 5 jours a Orlando??
Miami->N-O dans une journee? Ca aussi, c'est fou. On peut trouver plusieurs endroits agreable a visiter sur la cote ouest de Floride entre Naples et Tampa. Je ne connais pas le Floride au nord de Tampa.
Si j'ai du traverser Texas, je ferais le detour pour visiter Big Bend NP. Et apres ca, eventuellement Guadalupe Mountains NP et Carlsbad Caverns NP. (je ne connais pas encore ces 3 parcs, mais Big Bend a l'air vraiment sympa.)

Je priorise quelque long parcours dans une journée afin d'économiser des journée ailleurs. 5 jours à ORlando parce j'aurai même pas le temps de visiter Walter Disney en 5 jour. JE m attarde moins dans l'Est du pays car je peux revenir facilement. De plus rajouté des arrėts veut dire rajoutĖ des journées et mon parcours dans le dÉbut de l'OUest est déjà conjestionné cependant je possède 3 jours supplémentaires afin d'alléger L'ouest et les visites. Bonjour merveilleuse famille de voyageforum, je vous remercie encore une fois des remarques que vous m’avez proposé afin d’améliorer mon itinéraire. Cependant, les jours avance et je ne me sens pas en confiance pour certaines étapes de mon circuit. Donc, j’appel encore à l’aide à tous. Cette fois, j’ai décidé de diviser notre itinéraire en cinq étapes pour que sa soit plus claire et que vous puissiez critiquer selon votre expertise dans chacune des étapes. De plus, j’aimerai rappeler quelque fait sur notre façon de voyager.
Qui sommes-nous : Nos noms sont Michelle (30 ans) et Rémi (28 ans). Nous sommes canadiens français et nous sommes originaires d’une communauté de la province du Nouveau-Brunswick (la seule province officiellement bilingue au Canada) et notre ville Moncton (seule ville officiellement bilingue au Canada). Les francophones du nord-est et sud-est de la province son prénommés des Acadiens, afin de se rappeler nos racines ancestrales de la France. De plus, notre symbole qui représente le mieux les 350 000 Acadiens et Acadiennes dans le monde est notre drapeau, qui est en faite celui de la France bordé d’une étoile jaune, en haut à gauche, représentant la vierge marie.
Auto : Je suis indécis entre l’achat de trois véhicules, Ford Escape XLT, hyundai Santa fe ou Nissan XTerra. Le problème est que le XTerra est mon préféré mais il est plus dispendieux en argent et en essence. J’aimerai faire quelques piste 4x4 et j’ai peur que sa soit impossible avec l’un des deux véhicules cités ci-dessus.
PS : Nous privilégiions de nous lever vraiment tôt pour la majorité des journées de route. Nous sommes plutôt lève tôt. Par exemple, lors de la première journée de notre périple de 68 jours, nous allons partir de la maison à 5h00 pour être a New-York au alentour de 18 ou 19 heure.
Logement : Nous allons dormir de trois façons. (sur le dos, le ventre et le côté) je blague désoler à l’avance si elle n’est pas bonne. Plus sérieusement, Hôtel, Camping (sauvage et endroits appropriés) et dans notre voiture au endroit approprié et légal.
Nourriture : Nous allons la majorité du temps faire une petite épicerie afin de nous concocté divers repas. Nous possédons une glacière électrique (cependant je viens de réaliser que si nous le laissons branché pendant que nous ne sommes pas là, il risque de neutraliser ma batterie (mais je possède un boostpack pour recharger la batterie au cas où), je vais m’informer, si quelqu’un à une réponse ou une alternative (exemple brancher notre glacière électrique dans un autre engin qui offre de l’électricité emmagasiné pendant nos départ en rendonné) s’il vous plait me la partager.) Je possède aussi un petit réchaud colman au propane afin de faire bouillir, cuire ou griller nos repas. Par contre, nous allons quand même arrêter dans de bons restos et dans des restaurateurs rapides.
Budget : Nous avons jusqu’à maintenant 10 000$ canadien et 2000$ américain, le budget risque d’augmenter encore de 2 ou 3 milles dollars. Nous avons déjà notre pass pour les parcs de l’Ouest et nos billets de Céline Dion pour le 8 juillet. Nous allons aussi acheter nos billets pour Walt Disney World et Alcatraz la session de nuit. Avez-vous d’autre proposition d’achat de billets ou autres à faire à l’avance. Dès que notre itinéraire sera complété je vais procéder à la réservation de certain camping dans les parcs nationaux (lesquels se remplisse très vite selon vous et sont peut être déjà plein)
PS : Certaines étapes de notre itinéraire comme part exemple à Yesomite où j’ai placé beaucoup de chose à visiter n’est juste que des subjections pour nous même afin de nous donner du choix, nous savons que nous ne pouvons pas tous voir en si peu de temps. De plus, ils nous fait plaisir de recevoir vos suggestions de visite pour rajouter ou remplacer lès notre.

Étape 1
Départ de chez nous, Moncton, Nouveau-Brunswick, Canada, jusqu’à San Antonio. Certaines personnes trouvent ridicule de faire autant de route dans la première étape. Nous avons prissent cette décision, car nous considérant qu’il est mieux de rouler plus longtemps sur certaine route afin de rajouter deux autres nuits dans l’étape numéro 2 et que nous ne vivons pas très loin, il serait toujours facile d’y revenir comparativement à l’Ouest du pays. Pour l’étape numéro un, aucune nuit doivent être rajouté, car je préfère privilégier la 2ième étape. Cependant, je suis ouvert pour la journée du 19 juin de ne pas coucher à Miami et de continuer mon chemin vers une destination autre (???) afin de me rapprocher de la Nouvelle-Orléan.

Étape 2
La seconde étape nous transporte de San Antonio vers Las Vegas. Comme nous l’indiquons un peu plus haut. Nous aimerions rajouter deux nuits (du 23 juin aux 7 juillet) dans cette étape afin d’alléger certaines journées. Cependant, nous n’avons pas vraiment d’expérience et nous avons aucune idée à quel endroit qu’il serait meilleur de rajouté une nuit. Personnellement, nous croyons que les jours du 28 juin au 1 juillet est un peu saccadé et pourrait faire l’objet d’un rajout d’une nuit dans cette partie, qu’en pensez-vous?

Étape 3
Prochaine étape en cercle, Las Vegas vers Las Vegas. Nous croyons que cette étape est satisfaisante sauf sur deux points. Les arrêts entre Las Vegas et San Francisco est-ce réalisable ou non (Personnellement nous croyons que les journées 11, 12 et 13 juillet risquent d’être un peu serré, même si toutes les points de visites que nous avons énumérés ne sont que des choix à faire parmi ceux-ci et non de tous les faire. Et l’itinéraire entre San Francisco et Los Angeles est à refaire un peu, car nous ne sommes plus certain à quel endroit passer la nuit entre les deux destinations. De plus, quelle route devons nous privilégier entre San Francisco et LA pour être du côté de la mer (j’ai entendu parler de la route 1). Merci d’avance pour votre support.

(Cela dépend de l’heure de départ de San Diego, mais qui sera sans doute très tôt car nous aurons eux amplement de temps de visité les choses importantes de la ville).

Étape 5 :
Nous entamons la dernière étape de notre voyage, donc de Moab vers le Mont Rush More. Première question, est-ce que nous devons passer la journée du 01 août dans les parcs de Moab ou nous diriger tôt le matin vers Salt Lake City. Est-ce que cette itinéraire comporte de grosse lacune, est-ce trop serré dans le timing. Pour terminer, après la visite du Mont Rush More selon nous le 11 août car je crois qu’une journée supplémentaire va sans doute être rajouté pendant la troisième étape du périple. Nous allons repartir vers notre point de départ Moncton N-B Canada et nous nous donnons 4 jours de route intense afin de retourner à la maison terminer nos 2 dernières semaines de vacance en famille.

Deux possibilités :camper sur site à Goosenecks SP, camping primitif, gratuit. Jusqu'à Goosenecks SP : 157 miles, 4h56 de route/pisteSoit vous avez encore du "courage" et vous poussez ensuite jusqu'à MV qui, de l'avis général, est mieux en fin d'après-midi. Cela rajoute 31 miles et 47 minutes ; revenir à Goosenecks SP après le coucher de soleil sur MV.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
