Voila nous avons réservé un Yukon XL par Hertz cependant nous avons une petite inquiétude pour les bagages car nous sommes 7 et 5 valises. L'un d'entre vous a t il déja loué ce vehicule et reste t il de la place pour les bagages ?

L'an dernier j'ai loué ce véhicule : nous étions 5 (2 adultes et 3 enfants) .
7 valises (2 grosses, 2 moyennes et 3 qui passent comme bagage à main).
Il aurait été difficile de placer 2 autres personnes dans l'habitacle sans quelles soient trop à l'étroit.🤪
Donc tout dépend de la grosseur des valises, de la taille des occupants et du besoin de confort...

Vs ne ns dites pas la taille des valises, mais à moins d'avoir 5 valises maxi-dimensions, ca devrait passer.
A titre d'info, la longueur du coffre quand on est en configuration 7 places (ce que vs voyez sur la photo) est de 90 cms...

A 7 au Québec, nous avions un Toyota Sienna, on s'est pas mal inquiétés pour les bagages...
Au final les bagages sont bien passés : 5 valises + 1 glacière + 1 sac de courses.
Le Sienna était très haut, alors on pouvait empiler 😉
On a privilégié les sacs souples aux valises dures pour plus de possibilités d'arrangement.
On peut surement trouver la fiche technique du Yukon sur Internet avec les dimensions du coffre en config 7 places.
C'est ce qu'on avait fait pour le Sienna...
Mais je n'ai pas la doc du Yukon, car je ne l'ai pas testé.

Mais pour etre monté à l'AR d'un normal (en fait c'etait un TAHOE) en version 2 rangées de sieges, j'avais trouvé qu'il y avait vraiment beaucoup de place dans le coffre.
Si tu regardes bien le fond de la deuxième photo tu reconnaitras la Sierra Nevada en arrière plan...😛

Dans ce cas, le coffre est plus petit que celui d'une Toyota Sienna : véhicule que j'avais en 2009 ( besoin d'une photo ?😉)

J'ai loué pour 2 personnes en 2009 un suburban chevrolet ( le même que le Yukon), c'est immense, on logeait des valises souples à roulettes ( provenance décathlon ) de 80litres chacune, sans problème. on avait choisi ce véhicule car en rabattant la première banquette et en détachant les deux sièges arrières et en les positionnant à plat dans l'espace laissé libre par la première banquette on obtenait un plancher presque plat, un petit matelas gonflable et deux duvets pour dormir dans les campings, génial! Je pense que pour 7 valises, bien organisé c'est jouables. Pour te donner une idée de la place intérieur, on a fait un petit déplacement avec des amis sur place, sans être super serrés à 4 sur la banquette arrière, c'est donc bien large!!
Pour le reste c'est un véhicule super!! Souple ( v8 325cv et boite auto!) économique car il coupe automatiquement 4 cylindres lorsqu'il n'en a pas besoin, résultat nous avons consommé entre 11l et 14l selon vitesse et relief sur 12000kms en un mois. ( moyenne 12.5l), incroyable pour un tel véhicule! La clim va jusq'à la 2eme banquette les vitres arrières sont fumées, pour plus de confort! Pour moi vous avez fais le bon choix, car si vous avez quelques passages sur des pistes dans certains parc nationaux par exemple vous passerez sans appréhension.

Nous sommes 4 adultes et 2 enfants (7 et 9ans), nous aurons a priori 3 valises + 3 ou 4 petits sacs à dos (je pense aux pieds des passagers), au pire 3 valises + 1 gros sac. Le GMC Yucon XL devrai-il suffire pour nous ?
D'autre part, peut-il passer la piste à Monumnet VAlley (oui, j'ai lu, sans que l'assurance fonctionne en cas de pépin !) ?

De toute façon, le GMC YUKON XL, ou le CHEVROLET SUBURBAN qui en est le clon, sont ce qu'on trouve de plus gros aux USA.
A mon avis, à 6, vs n'aurez pas de problemes de place.
Pour le passage à Monument valley, (ou à Valley of the Gods, ou beaucoup de pistes de l'ouest), vs n'aurez aucun probleme pour le faire : il y a même des berlines qui le font.
Le Dodge CARAVAN, ou Chrysler Town &Country, est un minivan (enfin mini c'est façon de parler).
Vs pouvez le trouver en France chez les concessionnaires FIAT LANCIA : c'est le LANCIA VOYAGER :
Avantages par rapport au YUKON : moins cher en location, consomme moins, quand même moins camion à conduire.
Defaut : ce n'est pas un 4X4, (pour les pistes) coffre moins grand.
Vs pouvez aussi avoir dans les parcs des loueurs d'autres vehicules que le DODGE : notamment corééens, tjrs à 7 places mais moins spacieux.
Le Yukon XL sera parfait, nous l'avions loué il y a deux ans pour un tour de la Floride et nous étions 7 ( 4 adultes, 2 grands ados et un enfant de 10ans) 5 valises plus sacs à dos et glacière. Et pas de problème de place.

Pour avoir loué le clône du Yukon, un Suburban , nous avons adoré!!! Et nous n'étions que deux, mais c'était pour pouvoir dormir dedans dans les camping sans avoir à monter la tente tous les jours, hyper confort, gros v8, mais économique grâce aux cylindres qui se désacouplent en vitesse stabilisée ( entre 11 et 13,5l sur 12000kms), hyper raisonnable au vu du poids et de la puissance de l'engin( 325cv). Bon voyage!!

Exact, l'été dernier on a fait l'est des USA ( NY jusqu'à Minneapolis), toujours à deux et moins de grands espaces à traverser que dans l'ouest et plus de motels que de campings, et la moitié du séjour chez des amis, avec qui nous avons circulé en ford f350, gros pickup diesel ultra puissant qui en France réclame le permis poids lourds!! Donc on a loué plus petit, ford Taurus , berline de la taille d'une Audi a6, suréquipée, grand confort, mais la prochaine fois je reprendrai un suv, car c'est vraiment trop bien!! Et en plus comme tu dis on aura la chambre, et le salon!!!

After that, we’re planning to visit Gorongosa National Park before flying back to France from Beira. We’re planning a 4x4 trip from Belgium to Central Asia, passing through Georgia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
For these countries, our national insurance obviously doesn’t cover the vehicle, so we’ll need to get local insurance.
Will it be a problem if the vehicle is registered under person A and the national insurance is under person B? Both A and B will be in the vehicle, and both will be listed as drivers on the insurance.
When we get the local insurance, if we again list A and B as drivers, does the order matter? Could we get stuck at the border for this reason?

Were they All Terrain tires or more "standard" ones like all-season tires, for example?

I’m planning a trip to Iceland for next July-August, with a car and tent, and I’m wondering about booking campsites.
From your experience, is it necessary or even essential to book campsites in advance, or do you always manage to find a spot to pitch your tent?
We’ll also have the option to sleep in the car without pitching the tent.
Does that give us the flexibility to stay outside a campsite for a night here and there?

Last year, we had a fantastic road trip in the Anti-Atlas and High Atlas using Erfahren maps, but unfortunately, they don’t cover the area we’re interested in this year.

We’re planning a 13-day family road trip in Morocco this July, with six people in a Toyota Prado 4x4 (renting in Marrakech).
We’ll alternate between bivouacking and small hotels/riads depending on the stops.
Here’s the planned route (in this order):

Our goal:
Atlas Mountains + desert + dunes + plateaus + valleys + a bit of coastline.
We’ll cover about 1,700 km in total.
We’re planning:
Bivouacking in the Chegaga/Iriki area
Flexible for the rest (booking the day before or same day)
Sand gear: traction plates, compressor, tow strap, roof rack
Questions:
Is the Zagora → Chegaga → Iriki → Foum Zguid crossing in July doable on our own (single vehicle, no guide)?
Are there any truly technical or risky sections between Chegaga and Iriki?
Does the overall itinerary seem manageable in 13 days without rushing?
Any suggestions for great bivouac spots or particularly interesting stops along this route?
The points on the route are provisional overnight stops. Some spots will include two nights in the same area.
We’re used to off-road driving, but not yet in the Moroccan desert.

We’re struggling a bit with timing and choosing activities for the part of the trip between Sesriem and Brandberg.
Day 1: Sesriem to Mirabib
Day 2: Mirabib to Swakopmund – visit Swakopmund, overnight in Swakopmund
Day 3: Sandwich Harbour – overnight in Swakopmund
Day 4: Kayaking with the seals + the living dunes – overnight in Swakopmund
Day 5: Moon Landscape, Henties Bay + Cape Cross – overnight at White Lady Lodge in Brandberg
Does this itinerary seem realistic to you? Is Cape Cross really worth the trip? If I had to choose between Cape Cross and kayaking with the seals, which would you recommend?

However, the rental agencies we’ve found prohibit driving on the tracks to Omalo (Tusheti) and/or Ushguli (Svaneti).

I’d love to visit Gonarezhou National Park—I see there are two sectors: the Mwenezi Region in the south and the area around the Runde River in the north. Should I cover both sectors or just focus on the northern region?
For the parks along the Zambezi River, is it better to visit Mana Pools on the Zimbabwe side or Lower Zambezi on the Zambia side?

I’m leaving in November for about a month with the goal of reaching Senegal via Mauritania. I’d love to share this trip with someone who wants to discover Mauritania and a bit of Senegal... and also experience life on board a 4x4 in the desert or bush, sometimes sleeping in the vehicle or in hostels/small hotels for comfort. I’m looking for a rental company (or several) that offers single-cab 4x4 pick-ups with a fitted camper cell for two people. I’m specifically after a vehicle with an indoor shower for extra comfort ;)

While browsing the forum, I came across the Chilean rental company Holiday Rent. But do you have any recommendations for Argentine rentals?
Because, if I can’t return the vehicle in the same city as pickup, I’d prefer—and it’d likely be cheaper—to at least return it in the same country.

My trip to South Africa is starting to take shape.
However, I'm struggling to figure out the route through Kruger Park. I can't seem to find the information I need about getting around.
Coming from the south, I plan to arrive on Day 1 in the early afternoon at Malelane or Crocodile Bridge.
Do some shopping in Malelane (or Crocodile Bridge main area) and stay overnight outside the park.
Leave on Day 2 at 5 AM for the park. Explore the southern part of the park.
Stay overnight around Skukuza or Lower Sabie. (We don’t want to stay in one of the park’s big camps. We’re looking for a lodge around 200 €.
Head out on Day 3 for a self-drive safari, maybe as far as Orpen.
We’d like to stay in a private reserve on nights 4 and 5.
We’re not sure which one or how to get into a private reserve. Do we need to exit Kruger Park?
On Day 5, we’d like to leave to visit Blyde Canyon (on Day 6).

When I arrive in Divundu, I’d like to head straight to the Khwai area early in the morning to one of the campsites in the Khwai Development Trust. Is the drive doable with a good 4x4 in a day?
We’ll spend 2 nights in Khwai, then 2 or maybe 3 nights in the Moremi area (Third Bridge/Xakanaxa/Mboma) before heading back to Maun to wrap up our journey.
Is that too much time to spend in each place?

I’m planning to explore the western part of Madagascar from May 1st to 5th, specifically to visit the Tsingy. I’ve heard different versions about the road conditions and access to the Tsingy during this time, so I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually made this trip during this time of year.
Have you traveled from Morondava → Tsingy between May 1st and 5th?
