Bonjour a tous, j'ai le plaisir de voir qu'il y plein de personnes qui partage la meme passion que moi : les voyages.
D'habitude assez débrouillard, la je vais avoir besoin de votre aide afin d'optimiser un peu mon voyage. Ayant certaines contraintes imposée par ma copine, la plage et certains désirs personnel, avanture dans le desert, Nous avons décider d'essayer de faire Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Merzouga - Agadir - et back to Marrakech en 12 jours du 15 au 27 juin.
En ce qui concerne le logement pas de soucis, j'ai déja mes petites idées, par contre en ce qui concerne le transport entre chaque ville, après avoir lu différent blog, cela semble etre assez chaotique. Alors si quelqu'un peut me donner son avis ou des conseils je suis complètement preneur... Pour l'instant j'avais prévu de faire :
Marrakech ouarzazate : avec un bus trouve sur ONCF, qui a l'air plutot bien Ouarzazate - merzouga : un peu la galère, aller a la gare routière, prier pour trouver un Bus allant a Rissani puis un taxi brousse pour Merzouga Marzouga - Agadir : C'est sur ce trajet que je planche, vu que le trajet est TRES LONG 🤪, nous pensions le faire de nuit mais à partir de quelle ville?Rissani?ou dois - je retourner a ourzazate? Puis Agadir - Marrakech : a nouveau une grande compagnie trouvée sur ONCF
Alors si quelqu'un pouvait m'aider pour les deux trajets, Marrakech - Ouarzazate et Ouarzazate - merzouga, ca serait vraiment sympas...et dite moi si je dois modifier quelque chose
D abord je vous souhaite bon séjour au Maroc, concernant tes questions je peux bien t aider non seulement car je suis d Ouarzazate mais je connais bien les places que tu aimes bien visiter avec ta copine.
dommage de ne pas avoir la possibilité de louer une voiture à partir de Ouarzazate afin de visiter merzouga, car 12jours est suffisante pour tout le parcours de Marrakech à Marrakech, et avec une voiture tu peux s arrêter ou tu veux, en plus pleins des trucs à voir et visiter, de Ouarzazate à merzouga (palmeraie de skoura, vallée des roses, gorges de dadés, gorges de todgha, si tu penses passer à merzouga via errachidia, la il y a la source bleue, vallée de ziz …, si non il y a un autre de passage de tinghir à merzouga via tinjdade et erfoud. Et pour le retour ça sera via la vallée de Draa, il sera mieux de passer la nuit à Ouarzazate afin de visiter vallée de fint, kasbah d ait benhaddou, et les studios cinématographiques. Pour logement à Ouarzazate je connais un hôtel pas mal (chambre+douche chaude+ piscine+ petit déjeunée), le prix est 200 dh /2personnes.
Si non t as que prendre le bus de Marrakech à Ouarzazate via le col de tichka, il y a des bus presque chaque heure, le prix et entre 50 et 60 dh, il y a aussi le supratour et CTM, le prix un peu élever mais il y a un peu du confort, et il y a aussi le grand taxi .
Pour y arriver à merzouga, il existe deux bus de Ouarzazate à erfoud ou à rissani, un à 06 du matin et l autre à midi, je préfère celui du matin car à midi tu seras déjà à erfoud et tu prendra taxi collectif à rissani et après à merzouga tu peux profiter le coucher de soleil de même jour, les dunes sans pas loin des auberges. Et pour faire retour tu prendras même bus vers Ouarzazate et après un autre vers Agadir via taroudant.

En janvier 2008, nous avions fait en voiture de location pratiquement le même trajet sur 10 jours : Marrakech, Tizi N'Tichka, Ait-Benhaddou, Skoura, Vallée Dades, gorges Todra, Ar-Rachidia, Er-Foud, Rissani, Merzouga, Alnif, Tazzarine N'Kob, Agdz, Taliouine, Tizi N'Test, Essaouira, Marrakech. http://jacquinfr4.free.fr/programme.htm
Nous avions logé en Auberges confortables.
Avec les transports en commun, grands taxis, il vous faudra peut être un peu plus de temps (12 à 13 jours).

C'est vrai, comme on te l'a déjà dit, c'est mieux si tu peux louer une voiture. Personnellement c est comme ça que j'ai découvert le Maroc. On est libre et c'est plus rapide. De plus les routes sont en bon état pour la plupart sauf si tu sors des sentiers battus...
Côté parcours, je te fais cette suggestion :
Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Zagora - vallée du Drâa - désert de Mhamid : Chegaga - Taroudant - Agadir - Essaouira - Marrakech
C'est plus facile aussi bien en voiture de location qu'en bus et cela fait moins de kilomètres que le tien
Autre solution pour le transport : les grands taxis ; ils font toutes les destinations par ex : Marrak/Ouarz 80 € ; Si tu prends un taxi collectif tu paieras encore moins cher mais il faut attendre qu'il soit rempli ; sur certaines destinations cela peut être difficile d'avoir un taxi rempli

je le fais régulièrement avec des amis mais sur 2 semaines et avec mon véhicule .....et tous trouve que c'est encore trop de km en peu de temps .
il faut a mon avis que tu choisisses plage ou désert .

Après ces conseils et quelque jour de réflexion, je me dirige gentillement vers la solution location de voiture...maisntenant par rapport a ca point la j'ai quelque question...au niveau de la signalisation, est ce compliqué de se retrouver?ensuite dans la partie desert, les station d'essence sont elles fréquentes?y a t' il un risque de rouler la nuit entre merzouga et agadir?
Pour l'instant se sont le seules question qui me ^viennent en tete suite a vos conseil, pour lesquels je vous remercie encore une fois....
ah oui dernière question on m'as dit qu'il n'était pas possible d'aller en voiture normal a merzouga?est ce vrai?
qq réponses à tes interrogations : la signalisation : aucun problème, en francais partout, et comme il n'y a pas des tonnes de carrefours, on n'est jamais inquiet ! prend quand meme une Michelin 742, ca rend tout plus simple.les stations d'essence poussent comme des champignons, mais comme on ne sait jamais l'intervalle entre 2 stations qui auront du sans plomb, par exemple, moi je recomplète mon plein dès que je dépasse la moitié, ca suffit dans tous les cas !!! il n'y a pas de désert au Maroc, en tout cas pas sur ton itinéraire. il y a un risque, oui, de rouler de nuit, comme partout, véhicules mal éclairés, animaux divaguants, pierres qui avaient servi à signaler une panne non enlevées, mais pas beaucoup plus qu'ailleurs, par contre il est ridicule de faire Merzouga Agadir en une seule étape (12 à 14h de route) en loupant tout l'intéret que l'on peut trouver en chemin, pour se retrouver dans cette station qui n'en a aucun. et, comme d'hab, le "ON" qui t'as dit ça, n'y connait rien, à Merzouga, le goudron arrive jusqu'au pied des dunes.

Par contre pouvez vous me dire si on peut faire facilement le trajet Rissani Tamnougalt en voiture sans chauffeur svp ?
Sur les guides ils parlent d'une piste, pas d'une route ? Est ce que c'est dangereux ?

Je compte faire la boucle AR Ouarzazate jusqu'à Merzouga en passant par le Dadès et le Todhra à l'aller puis Tazzarine et Tamnougalt au retour. Est ce que la deuxième portion est possible en voiture de tourisme ? Sur les guides ils parlent d'une piste pas d'une route... Est faisable sans chauffeur ? Est ce dangereux et vaut il mieux revenir sur ses pas à Ouarzazate par le Dadès puis redescendre à Zagora ?

Hello tout le monde alors premierement je tiens a dire que mon voyage a été magnifique...prévoyez l'appareil photo...
Alors nous avons tout fait en voiture(Logan) avec MedLoc, je les ai trouve pros...donc aucun problemes pr tout faire en voiture...par contre il faut just que je recheck l'itineraire que j'ai fait mais il me semble que l'on a pris la route du haut pr l'allé et la route du bas pr le retour(qui était plus courte mais pas interet a tomber en panne...)
Par contre, honnetement on a voulut s'arreter dans des petits village conseillés dans le guide du routard mais ca craint un peu( petit detial nous y etions legerement hors saison)...donc les seuls fois ou on s'est arreté s'est qd il y avait du monde ou bien un endroit assez clean...entre ouarzazate( que j'ai perso vraiment bien aimé) nous nous sommes arrete dans un riad vers erfoud 1 nuit puis nous sommes allé a merzouga, Kanz Erremal....http://www.kanzerremal.com/ le riad est bien, nous étions seule....ct sympas tres relaxant la piscine au bord des dunes...elle est nettoyée tous les jours...par contre ne faites pas la sortie dans le desert avec eux...ct l'enfer, ce qui devait etre la meilleures nuit a ete la pire....
donc voila ce qui me reviens de tete sans avoir chercher...je sais qu il y a 2 3 endroit sympas pr s'arreter prendre un verre...
Ben disons que certain lieu je ne me souviens plus des nom, mais c'est lors de la traversee de l'atlas, le guide conseillait de s'arreter pr prendre un verre et admirer les petites boutique typique, mais lorsque l'on y arrivait le village ne faisait pas plus de 30 m de long avec des echopes en bord de route sans endroit vraiment particulier pr s'arreter boire un verre....ca ne donnait donc pas vraiment envie de s'arreter....autre endroit ou nous voulions s'arreter dormir, evidemment nous etions les seules touristes, a peine la voiture parquee qu' il y avait 3 personnes qui se dirigaient sur nous afin de nous proposer leur services...des lors impossible de s'en débarasser alors que nous voulions simplement nous promener dans un petit marché et trouver un chambre...on nous a finalment emmené dans dans petites rue completement perdue sois disant pr aller voir le "marché des Femmes"(donc objets créer par les femmes marocaine) en faite ct une habitante qui voulais nous refiller ses tapis donc nous sommes tres rapidement reparti...heureusement j'ai un bon sens de l'orientation....bref nous avons pris la voiture et avons reprise la route...une autre ville just avant erfoud je crois ou nous voulions nous arretes pr faire le tour du marché...au premier stop venu, un homme s'approche de la fenetre pr demander de l'argent et me suis fais traité de racistes car je ne voulais pas baisser ma fenêtre....???!!!dans le meme village j'ai reperer un mec qui me suivait en scouter depuis l'entree du village et qui attendait que je me parc^surement pr me proposer ses conseils, l'ayant remarquer je ralentissais il ralentissait aussi, alors me suis arrete sur le coté et lui ai fait signe de passé il m'a traite de fou....Soyons honnete ca donne pas du tout envie de s'arreter...maintenant il est vrai que nous etions hors saison donc bcp moins de touristes....donc moins rassurant.....
Pr la sortie dans le desert...bon premierement on va dire que la monture sur le dromadaire n'était pas tres comfortable...bon ca c pas bien grave.... mais moi je m'imaginais un joli camps, avec un minimum d'arrangement...on est arrive au camps....RIEN....just quelque que bout de bois recouvert de couverture.... il nous présente nos lits....2 lits de plages a la belle étoile...ok ca peut etre cool...ensuite le diner a la chandelle....fondue...en gros on a du manger notre tagine avec une bouteille d'eau coupée en deux en guise de bougeoire avec une bougie molle qui a fini par mettre le feu a la bouteille...bref nous avons continuer notre repas a la lumiere du natel....ca c'etait avant qu une tempete de sable nous arrive dessus.... on decide de se mettre dans un des tente...impossible de la fermer donc nous nous sommes retrouve allongé dans la tente a manger du sable toute la nuit en etant recouvers de 1cm de sable....autant dire l'horreur...bref voila notre aventure...nous n'avons pas dormis de la nuit....donc je pense qu il doit y avoir vachement mieux comme organisation....

Non non on avait pas de guide...tout fais tout seul.... oui on est alle a Merzouga par la route...hehehe...le camping dans le desert était a 2h de dromaire du l'hotel....je me suis peut etre mal exprime...l'hotel a merzouga est vraiment bien(voire le site) et nous avons fait une excursion dans le desert avec une nuit en tente....c ca qui etait horrible...
Eh que l'on se comprenne bien j'ai ADORE ce voyage...et ces petits inconveniant font completement partie du voyage et ces ca qui depaysage....la j'ai vraiment eu l'impression d'essayer de decouvrir le maximum du pays que je pouvais en 12j...je deteste les vacances style club med.... J'ai just raconter les mesaventures car on parlait du transport et a quoi l'on pouvait etre confronté mais tout le reste j'ai vraiment aime...les bon resto, marakesh et la place jemaa el fna, ses marchés, les riads (la porte rouge...excellente adresse a marakesh), ouarzazate, la kasbah Aït-Benhaddou...et les paysage hallucinant...je le recommande vivement et je recommande vivement de decouvrir le pays en voiture comme nous l'avons fait....malgré les petits inconvéniant...
je pensais faire le meme trajet que toi (Ouarzazate-Skoura-dades-Merzouga-Tazzarine-Nkob-Tamnougalt) fin Septembre. Je ne trouvais pas de bus pour le retour par Tazzarine et Nkob et voulais savoir si tu aurais trouve une solution?

That’s a lot of cities.
Probably a bit too many for our taste—we usually prefer more isolated spots...
So I’m looking for tips on little backroads, secluded beaches, half-day hikes, and offbeat places.
If you’ve also got recommendations for accommodation... (We’re open to splurging over 100 € if it’s a real favorite.)

I’ve started making a few pre-bookings for hotels and apartments to rent in Algiers. At first, I received friendly and welcoming responses. Then, when I mentioned I wanted to stay for two or three weeks—maybe even a month—explaining that my trip wouldn’t be strictly touristy but more of a pilgrimage to the places of my childhood, and that it would likely be a very emotional journey, I expected a positive and warm reaction to my approach. Instead, I suddenly stopped getting replies from the three or four people I’d contacted. So now I’m wondering about the reception former Pieds-Noirs can expect...
Anyone here who can share their experience of returning? I specified “recently” because it seems that right now, diplomatic relations between the two governments are extremely tense, not to say hostile... even if Macron claims otherwise...

- Does it need to cover the entire duration of the trip?
- Is this document mandatory for a hotel to rent a room?
- Is it checked during inspections?
- Is a hotel booking (e.g., via Booking.com) sufficient for the visa?
- If so, does it need to be paid in advance?
I plan to visit several cities and do one or more treks with a guide or agency.

I’d like to do a route that’s a bit different from my first stay, which was more focused on cities and culture (Tunis, Sousse, Kairouan, El Jem).
I’ll be getting around by public transport.
I’d like to head south toward Tozeur, and I saw that you can take a *louage* from Monastir to Sbeitla (2h30). I imagine it’s not too complicated to get to Tozeur from there afterward? The issue is the return trip to Monastir and safety in Sbeitla.
If this route seems too complicated, I might opt for Djerba instead, which looks simpler.
I’m heading to Morocco in September 2026, and part of my trip takes me through Merzouga. I’m looking for a 4x4 driver-guide to explore the area with my partner and me.
Even though I come to Morocco four times a year, it’s been a long time since I’ve made the trip by car. I need to refresh my knowledge! I’ll be traveling in early October. I have a car that’s about 20 years old. The plan is to cross via Algeciras/Ceuta.
A few questions:
1) Does this crossing still exist? If so, do I need to buy the ticket in advance or on the spot? From whom? Any advice is welcome!

Day 3: Stop in Tetouan
Day 4-5-6: Chefchaouen and a day hike in the Rif Mountains
Day 6-7: Discover the city of Fes (I’ve heard so many great things!!)
Day 8: Stop in Meknes and possibly visit the historic site of Volubilis
Day 9-10: Rabat (I’ve heard mixed things... some good, some bad)
After that, I have the choice of heading back to Tangier for my return flight... or going down to Agadir (also a possible return flight) and extending my trip by 5 days :)
From what I can tell, everything is well connected by bus (CTM) or train (ONCF).
Another question: Is the vibe in Moroccan youth hostels for meeting people the same as what you’d find in Western Europe?

(though there are fraudulent sites out there). On the official site, they ask for legitimate info
(name, nationality, etc.). What made me go "hmm" was the request for both an email address
AND a password (with confirmation). Is this normal?

A lot of people find it important to stick to their budget when traveling—not to skimp, but to visit as many places as possible since traveling is their hobby.
In this post, I want to share some tips for those coming to Morocco who want their trip to be budget-friendly.
1. Prebook everything: hotels or riads, car rentals, or tours. If you book these in advance, it’ll make your life easier. You won’t have to deal with hagglers or people trying to overcharge you for services that are available online for free. Use platforms like Booking, Expedia, carsrental.ma, Airbnb, and other booking services to get this done properly.
2. Exchange your money to Moroccan dirhams as soon as you land. 1 € is always a little over 10 dirhams, but many people get charged as if it were exactly 10 dirhams per euro.
3. When visiting an old site or the old medina, avoid talking to vendors and shop owners—they’re really good at getting your attention and making you overpay for things.
4. Ask your tour guide to buy things for you. Yes, they do get a commission, but you’ll probably pay way more if you buy something yourself that they can get cheaply.
5. Walk everywhere. You don’t need a taxi for every little trip. Pick a good location and walk—most Moroccan cities are safe during normal hours.
6. Buy your food, drinks, etc., from supermarkets at normal prices. They can’t overcharge you since they scan every product.

I’m planning my next trip outside Europe for next year, but unfortunately, I don’t have a choice with the dates—it’s late June to early July. Last year, I went to Japan for three weeks, and it was constantly 36-37°C with over 90% humidity. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible either.
For Egypt, I know it’s a period to avoid if possible, but I’m thinking that by the sea, it might be manageable. Otherwise, I’ll consider another destination.

Hi everyone, just back from the 8-day Marrakech-Merzouga loop by car, and I’d love to share my feedback in case it helps some of you. Big thanks to all the forum members who kindly answered my questions!
Trip from Friday the 20th to Saturday the 28th, flying out of Marseille with Ryanair
- Landed late around 8 PM local time, exchanged some currency, and the rental agency (Magdaz Car, which I highly recommend) delivered the car straight to the airport with some great route tips (don’t blindly trust Maps.me). The night drive was a bit intense—lots of people out and about due to Ramadan. Stayed at Riad Midhou (really nice) on the outskirts of the city, which made it easy to hit the road the next morning.
- Day 1: Marrakech to Skoura. The drive was smooth, roads are great, but watch out for roundabout priority—it’s different from France. Beautiful route. Quick stop in Ouarzazate for lunch, Ait Benhaddou for the view (stunning), and the Fint Oasis (meh...). Spent the night at Taloute Ecolodge in Skoura, overlooking the palm grove (super cozy).
- Day 2: Skoura to Todgha Gorges via the Valley of Roses and Dades Gorges.
Adventure-packed day! We crossed the Valley of Roses (pretty, but not as amazing as I’d hoped) and took a "shortcut" recommended by the *Routard* guide to reach the Dades Gorges without backtracking. After asking locals, they said, "It’s doable." Turns out it was a narrow, rocky cliffside track—no way to turn around! A stressful moment, with a nice scratch on the bumper and a good sweat. Fine in an SUV or 4x4, but not in a Logan... Then the Dades Gorges (nice) and a detour through the north to reach Todgha from above. Gorgeous mountain road and a quick stop on some snow patches—touching African snow! Spent the night at *Les Gorges de Todgha*—great place, except for the bathroom. The Todgha Gorges themselves are stunning!
Day 3: Todgha to Merzouga. Beautiful drive, and the view of the erg (sand dunes) on arrival is breathtaking! Totally worth the trip. Explored the desert and stayed at *Café du Sud* hotel just outside Merzouga—absolutely gorgeous.
Day 4: Merzouga. Desert exploration and chilling by the hotel pool (with a bonus sunburn). Lunch in Merzouga—I recommend *Dakar*—their lemon tajine was amazing. Spent the night in the hotel’s luxury camp, including a camel ride. The camp was beautiful, but I was disappointed we weren’t deeper in the desert given the price (100 € per person, including dinner, breakfast, and camel ride).
Day 5: Merzouga to Tamnougalt. Gorgeous route. First fine (a supposed stop sign...) but the officer was super nice—only 150 MAD. Stayed at *Kasbah Maktob*, right in the middle of ruins—really unique and beautiful!
Day 6: Tamnougalt to Marrakech. Another beautiful drive, and a second fine (minor speeding), same amount. Crossed a windy mountain pass during a big storm—traffic was blocked in the opposite direction (not sure why), causing massive jams for those coming from Marrakech. A few downed cables, but nothing serious. Arriving in Marrakech was tricky—hard to find the rental agency, and the traffic was intense (watch out for GPS trying to send you through the medina). Ask the rental company to meet you somewhere quiet. They didn’t even notice the damaged bumper... Stayed at *Riad Zifamo* in the heart of the medina. Big change of pace—so many people and so much hustle!
Day 7: Marrakech. Lots of wandering through the souk and a quick trip to Gueliz (not essential). A few tips for the medina: watch out for scooters weaving too fast, always negotiate prices (aim for at least 1/3 off what they ask, unless it’s a small amount), don’t buy spices—more expensive than in France! Head to the *Carrefour Market* in Gueliz for better prices. In the end, not many truly unique items—you’ll find more or less the same things everywhere.
Day 8: Early morning flight. We’d booked a car to the airport from the riad, but a taxi would’ve been fine—plenty available even at 7 AM. Security wasn’t an issue (we had lighters and liquids over 100 ml).
A few extra notes: Pleasantly surprised by the road quality—just a few potholes here and there, but overall very drivable. Watch out for the police—they’re everywhere! The car cost me 30 € per day (with the *Routard* discount) and about 90 € in gas. No safety concerns, no harassment, and no stomach issues, despite the ice in Marrakech. Breakfasts at the hotels were usually hearty—take advantage! The timing (end of February) was perfect—pleasant daytime temps and cool nights. Since it was Ramadan, nothing unusual to report, except it was hard to find food outside Marrakech at lunchtime.
If I did it again, Merzouga is a must, but I’d spend a night in a real desert bivouac, deeper in the dunes. My stops (no more than 300 km a day) were well-paced, and with so few cars on the road, it wasn’t tiring—even though I’m not usually a fan of driving...
