On part le 25 Mai une semaine à Montréal. Le but étant est de surtout se balader... ne rien faire de particulier
Cependant, après réflexion, on va quand meme faire une nuit à Québec car nous aimons les ballades et sommes curieux de découvrir cette ville.
Je vais donc louer une voiture sur Montréal et je voudrais connaitre svp, selon vous, le meilleur itinéraire pour aller à Québec... sachant, que nous allons partir vers 9h de montréal, idéalement, j'aimerai que la route soit une ballade avec des arrêts..... le soir, j'ai réservé dans un hôtel au coeur du vieux québec... donc, je prévois juste la ballade le soir & le lendemain matin, pour repartir en début d'après midi sur Montréal.... et pourquoi pas par l'autre route, de l'autre coté du saint laurent.

Vous risquez de vous ennuyer si vous ne vous baladez pas aux bons endroits. Des visites planifiés selon vos goûts sont absolument nécessaires pour apprécier votre voyage.

Une seule route intéressante : Le chemin du Roy qui longe le St Laurent. moult arrêts et visites genre moulins à eaux en activité, Générale store comme jadis.... du bonheur.
Autour de Montréal tu as le Mont Tremblant : Accès par Autoroute 15 (des Laurentides)

Après midi => Amphibus pour ballade route/eau pour les gosses

J6 : Premium outleet au nord de Montréal & arret à voir
J7 : depart en fin de journée - Farnienté à proximité de notre hôtel - Marriott château champlain.
Le parc Jean Drapeau , je n'y vois pas l'intérêt surtout si vous allez au parc du Mont Royal , le belvédère.
La ville souterraine , vous avez eu mon avis .
Outlet au nord de Montréal ( plutôt vague où exactement ? ) , de vrais aubaines et un vrai outlet ? Pas certain du tout . Ça déjà été discuté sur le forum .
Pour le reste ça va mais n'oubliez pas le Plateau Mont-Royal

le premium outlet montreal a ouvert en octobre l'année dernière je crois, il est tout neuf... il se situe a 40km environ je crois, à Mirabel

Sur la rue Ste Catherine il peut y avoir autant d'aubaine qu'à l'extérieur de Montréal dans ces "faux" outlets au sens où on l'entend quand on va aux État--Unis et où il peut y avoir de véritables aubaines.
Le parc du Mont Royal et le Plateau Mont Royal , pas plateau du Mont Royal ; Un est un magnifique parc dans la montagne ( le Mont ....) et le plateau est un quartier très sympa a découvrir.

et bien en fait, entre un déménagement, un nouveau boulot, 2 enfants de 1an et 4 ans.... un mari pilote et donc absent les 3/4 du temps, donc, je dois gérer tout à la maison de A à Z.... je trouve que je m'en sors plutôt pas mal..... j'ai même dans mon organisation militaire, le temps, pendant un pont en France... de préparer notre périple pour nos vacances......

Bonjour Caroline, nous vous souhaitons un très sympathique séjour au Québec. A mi-chemin entre Montréal ét Quebec, il y a Drummondville ét son http://www.mondialdescultures.com/accueil
qui malheureusement n'est peut-être pas en phase avec vos horaires de voyage. Néanmoins, plusieurs villages sympathiques parsèment les deux rives du Fleuve St-Laurent , entre Montréal ét Quebec. J'ai notamment le souvenir d'une jolie halte sur les battures entre Baie-du-Febvre ét Nicolet, où il y a un immense refuge d'oiseaux migrateurs.

A St-Jean-D'Illac en 2011, nous avions circulé en famille sur vos bien sympathiques pistes cyclables avec nos enfants, dans le cadre d'un voyage à vélo plus long, du côté des Pyrénées. Nous avons gardé des souvenirs impérissables autour du Bassin d'Arcachon, de nos dégustations d'huîtres ét des Dunes de Pylat ( que nous avions monté, en fin de journée après 80 km de vélo, sous un fabuleux coucher de soleil au dessus de l'océan, des dunes ét de la forêt à perte de vue!)

En ce qui concerne les interventions de Stratele52, ce n'est malheureusement pas d'hier que Louis s'est fait connaître par ses jugements hâtifs ( que souvent il doit ensuite excuser ou corriger, quand par exemple son interlocuteur lui explique le contexte , alors que lui avait présumé bien d'autres choses), ses savants enseignements pour nous apprendre à utiliser, avant toute intervention sur ce forum, les liens commerciaux de TripAdvisor, Wikipedia ou autres Google, ou encore sa propension à relever toute imprécision, phrase incomplète et autres anomalies qu'il se plaît à relever au fil des ses lectures matinales. Chercher à comprendre, à le comprendre, vous avez bien raison, est plutôt inutile ...
@Stratele52: Cher Louis, il me semble qu'au fil de tes très fréquentes interventions sur VF, tu aurais pu apprendre, découvrir qu'il y a de par le monde autant de types de voyageurs que de voyageurs! Certains, comme toi et moi, ( tu m'excuseras cette association !) se plaisent à des voyages finement planifiés dans le détails; D'autres, comme par exemple ma conjointe et partenaire de voyage, trouvent plus de plaisir à se laisser guider, dans la surprise ét l'imprévu. D'autres encore, à l'occasion d'une invitation imprévue ou d'un coup de tête, partiront à l'improviste sans aucune préparation, le voyage "no-where" cher au cinéma américain , souviens-toi par exemple de l'emblématique et génial "Thelma & Louise" . Finalement d'autres , comme par exemple Caroline qui a dû se justifier à la suite de tes sousentendus désagréables, ont juste manqué de temps pour cause de surcharges familiales, de travail, de santé, peu importe! Mais quelle est donc cette nécéssité de devoir tout t'expliquer! Ce serait tellement plus simple si tu évitais ces jugements intempestifs et ces sousentendus désagréables. Tes propos sur VF sont parfois pertinents et intéressants, c'est juste malheureux que tu viennes ensuite les diluer par tes interventions maladroites, que souvent par la suite tu te dois de corriger. Je te propose simplement juste un peu moins d'interventions, compensés par davantage de qualité et de pertinence, tu n'en seras que plus apprécié de tous.
Salut Bahia, au depart de Montréal tu prend l'autoroute 40 direction direction Quebec, apres avoir passé Trois rivières environ 20mn apres vous sortez de l'autoroute direction St Anne de la Perade et a partir de la tu peut prendre la route 138 le chemin du roy qui est le plus intéressant pour rejoindre Quebec avant il y a franchement pas grand chose a voir
Au retour prenez donc la route 132 de l'autre coté du fleuve la route des navigateurs elles est aussi très sympa et elle vous ramènera jusque a Montréal comme cela vous aurez fait les deux coté perso je préfère la 132 mais je ne suis pas impartial car je suis sur ce coté du fleuve 😉
alors a Quebec il faut aller voir les chutes de Montmorency et ne pas oublier celles de la rivière Chaudières qui sont tout aussi belles et elles sont juste de l'autre coté du fleuve quand tu prendras la route 132
a mon avis oublie le village indien c'est un truc a touristes et en plus c'est pas donné
Pour finir faut pas en vouloir a Louis il a la science infuse il sait tout sur tout notamment grâce au lien des autres internautes et il a du mal a comprendre que on ne prepare pas son séjour 5 ans avant 😏 ... avec lui voyager ce n'est plus vive l'aventure 😄

Ça fait trop longtemps que je n'y ai pas été et le village s'est énormément développé depuis , je ne peut me prononcer .
Je sais que pour un dimanche, la route au retour en fin de journée , risque d'avoir de très gros ralentissements car énormément de gens reviennent en ville après la fin de semaine dans cette région . Mais si les activités en vaillent la peine pourquoi pas.
D'autres intervenants aurons sûrement des opinions.

Comme Bleck2010, je pencherais pour la rive Sud, sur la 132.... J'ai fait les 2 et c'est de loin celle qui m'a le plus charmé. Bon, en même temps, j'ai fait la 138 en voiture et la 132 en course à pied, ce qui laisse forcément le loisir d'apprécier un peu plus 😄 !
L'autoroute, aucun intérêt si tu as tout ton temps et que tu veux faire des pauses !

Bien sûr!
Une fois traversé sur la rive-sud, vous pourriez remonter quelques villages vers le nord, par exemple jusqu'à Deschaillons.
Au retour direction sud, Nicolet est sympathique, Baie-du-Febvre et son sanctuaire mérite un arrêt, Yamaska est un vieux village avec un certain charme; Sorel-Tracy sont plutôt quelconque (secteurs et port industriels sans charme), sauf si vous faites une randonnée sur les pistes cyclables, qui sont très agréables.
Vous pourriez ensuite laisser la route 132 et plutôt longer la rivière Richelieu du coté est (route 133) et vous rendre ainsi jusqu'à la ville de Richelieu sur une soixantaine de kilomètres.
De chaque coté des rives, vous traverserez de charmants petits villages de campagne, dont certains sont davantage connus pour être associés aux Patriotes de 1837-1838;
du coté est: St-Ours, St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, St-Charles sur Richelieu, Mont St-Hilaire, St-Mathias-sur Richelieu, Richelieu.
Sur l'autre rive: St-Roch, St-Antoine, St-Marc, Beloeil et Chambly.
Vous pouvez passer d'une rive à l'autre par traversier (ferry!) dans tous les villages, sauf à St-Hilaire et à Richelieu qui sont desservis par des ponts.
Nous avons à Beloeil quelques très bons restaurants (c'est ici que je vis!), que je vous suggérerai au besoin si vous faites le choix d'y passer.🙂
Du coté de la route 132 de Sorel-Tracy à Montréal, il y a une longue section monotone le long des industries, puis ça redevient joli en traversant les villages de Contrecoeur, Verchères, Varennes et Boucherville, sans toutefois avoir la campagne bucolique qui longe la rivière Richelieu.
Vous voilà donc avec 3 choix plutôt que deux 😊

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
