Cela faisait quelques jours que je me prenais la tête avec ce foutu paludisme : traitement préventif ou non ? Dans ce forum, les avis sont très controversés et les arguments pour ou contre sont bien avancés si bien qu’à chaque nouveau message, je changeais d’avis !
Bref, à la fin je ne savais plus quoi penser, j’étais perdue !
J’aurais volontiers pris le traitement par précaution, mais le problème c’est que j’ai 3 enfants en bas âge et j’avais très peur des effets secondaires pour eux. Moi si j’ai la nausée ou une diarrhée monumentale, c’est pas très grave mais sur mes enfants ou mon bébé, ça l’est plus.
A priori, d’après la pédiatre, le traitement (nivaquine) est bien toléré mais il faut quand même le prendre 5 semaines (1 jour avant départ, pendant séjour, puis pendant 4 semaines après). Je trouve ça lourd : elle me conseille d’appeler le centre de parasitologie qui me dira clairement si cela est nécessaire. Donc je viens d’appeler…

Est-il nécessaire de faire le traitement anti-palu pour la RD.
Réponse du professeur : cela dépend de ce que vous allez faire là bas. Je vais à Punta cana, en hotel tout inclus et je ne compte pas sortir du sîte (car 3 enfants petits). Donc il me répond : pas de traitement, vous n’avez pas de soucis à vous faire. Je lui dis que j’ai tout de même entendu dire qu’il y a eu 1 cas chez une touriste française en décembre dernier : il me confirme mais me dit que c’était dans les terres, là où le palu est présent, surtout dans les zones rurales et à la frontière haïtienne. Les moustiques n’aiment pas la plage et l’air conditionné et les sîte sont traités. Emportez simplement un anti-moustique et un répulsif pour d’éventuels moustiques inoffensifs (simples piqures) car vous avez de jeunes enfants.
Par contre, il me conseille vaccin contre DTpolio + hépatite A et B + thyphoïde pour adultes et enfants et DTplolio et éventuellement hépatite B pour bébé.
Bref, je suis rassurée, reste juste pour nous à faire vaccins hépatite A et typhoïde + acheter répulsifs moustiques (genre cinq sur cinq tropique), diffuseur pour la chambre et moustiquaire pou bébé + trousse à pharmacie complète pour les enfants (liste établie par ma pédiatre).

Faut prendre des moyens pour ce proteger des moustiques qui peuvent transporter d'autres maladies 🏴☠️
Vrai que les moustiques ne volent pas avec de la glace sur les ailes (air climatisee) 😛

J'avais pris un repoussant mais ca leur faisaient pas trop peur mais en gros j'ai du etre piqué 2 ou 3 fois ! Et c'etait vraiment minuscule comme reaction, rien a voir avec les enormes truc qui me sorte quand je descends dans le sud chez mes grand parent a porto-vecchio !

Voila une réponse qui me satisfait.Depuis plusieurs jours je suis en contact avec plusieurs personnes pour ce sujet.Une personne (belgique)ma pris pour un (rigo--) au sujet des médicaments pour le palu.Bien sur il existe des cas de palu en r d. mais comme votre médecin vous l' a expliquer c'est en général à l 'intérieur des terres et pas partout.De plus la r d est en zone 1 ou a .Je suis parti avec des répulsifs quelques crèmes pour calmer un peu les grattages .De plus les moustiques n'aiment pas trop la clim.Je suis toujours d'accord avec vous le traitement est assez long et peut avoir des effets secondaires.De toutes façon il existe aussi la dengue en r d et ancun traitement à ce jour.Arrétons de paniquer.Enfin je vais rassurer mon ami BELGE je vais pouvoir mourir avec mon guide du routard sous le lit . Comme toi, je pars en RD avec 2 ;enfants de 2 & 5 ans, au mois d'avril, et j'étais un peu ds le flou par rapport au palu. Je profite donc de ta démarche de "maman consciencieuse"!!! pour préparer mon voyage. Eclate toi avec ta petite famille, et tiens-nous au courant si conseils particuliers, surtout pour les enfants!!! Je ne pourrais pas dire que c'est le meilleur j'ai été à l'ile maurice l'année dernière bien sur il y avait le probleme de Chicungunia nous avons utilisé "mousti cologne" génial ! avec un fils allergique aux moustiques ! aucun souci .
bon j'ai peut etre eu de la chance, nous étions quand meme un groupe de 18 et personne n'a eu de probleme.

Oui, moi je pars en mars avec mes 3 loulous: 4 ans, 2 ans et demi et 4 mois. Certains diront que c'est de l'inconscience mais je pense qu'en préparant bien son séjour et en prenant le max de précautions, ça devrait bien se passer.
Ma principale préparation concerne bien sûr la santé. Je pioche de bons conseils et astuces depuis quelques jours. Aujourd'hui, mon médecin m'a donné un bon truc: je lui ai demandé quelle crème utiliser: il préconise insect écran adulte et insect écran enfant + avant de partir faire tremper les vêtements dans une bassine d'eau avec de l'insect écran pour tissu et voilage. Ensuite faire sécher comme à l'habitude et on est tranquile pour le séjour car ce répulsif est actif pendant 3 semaines et résiste à 3 lavages.
Je commence également à préparer une trousse à pharmacie bien complète (doliprane, adiaril, smecta, ... ... ...) : si tu veux ma liste établi par ma pédiatre je peux te la donner.
Je note aussi les numéros indispensables en cas de soucis pour le rapatriment (intermutuelles assistance) ou pour le transfert sur un hôpital d'un DOM.
Je pense à des ptits trucs chaque jour...
Ensuite je m'attaquerai au reste des bagages mais j'ai encore le temps pour ça!
😉😉😉 pour l'anti-moustique, ma pharmacie m'a conseillé mousti-fluid, haute protection, zons infestées, mais ne convient pas aux enfants de moins de trois ans, effet durant 6 heures. prix, 8 euros39 en 2004.
comme je ne suis pas partie en2006, je ne sais si le prix a augmenté, avantages, on en met très peu.
quelque soit le produit, l'important est d'éviter les piqûres.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question:

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...

I think I can get authorization from my doctor to travel for 6 months with the treatment—is that correct? After those 6 months, is it possible (instead of bothering a relative to send the medication) to see a foreign doctor to get another 6-month travel authorization? How does it work at the airport? Do I need just one medication transport authorization, or do I have to request a new one in each country (once the treatment runs out) for both the flight and a DCI?
