National Parks in Thailand: Do we have to book online?

Hello,

We’re heading to Thailand this summer with our kids and would love to visit Kui Buri National Park. However, after checking the park’s website, it looks like there are no available slots for the days we’ll be there (July 22–24): https://www.thainationalparks.com/kui-buri-national-park/guided-tours/kui-buri-wildlife-safari So, I’m wondering if we *have* to book through them to access the park? (I had the same question for Kaeng Krachan.)

Thanks in advance, and have a great day! Bruno

hi, I can't answer your question, but I'm also interested in this.

Here’s the park’s website—you can use the French translation option: https://www.thainationalparks.com/kui-buri-national-park

I don’t think there are any entry limits. Before you go, you can ask the hotel reception to call them since their phone numbers are listed.

For Kaeng Krachan, keep in mind the park is huge, and there’s definitely no entry limit. Watch out for panthers and elephants, even on the paved roads.

Hi, Thanks for your feedback. I was indeed talking about that site. When you look at the conditions, it states that you must be accompanied by a guide: Visitors are not permitted to drive their own vehicles beyond the visitor center into the wildlife watching area. Instead, a safari pickup with a guide must be arranged at the visitor center. And when you check the safari schedule, for example on July 23rd, it seems there are no more spots available, which I find quite strange. Bruno

Kui Buri—check if jeep and guide are mandatory and if it's open in July because it's monsoon season. Otherwise, I just noticed VoyageForum is back up—so glad, it's still a great tool! Been a while, huh?

Yes, apparently they’re open in July! (No idea about the reopening details... but yeah, it’s great [:)])

Yes, Kui Buri and Kaeng Krachan are open in July.

We booked our tours through the national parks website, which redirects to one or more providers—TonTan Travel for us. Communication happens via the national parks platform, it's quick and user-friendly, and the prices match those listed on the parks' site.

Kui Buri can be visited without a guide. You can head to the park entrance from 2:00 PM and wait for a vehicle to fill up. There’s no guarantee the driver will speak English, though. Alternatively, you can book a private tour with an English-speaking guide, but the cost is obviously different. Just a heads-up: the park is only open for 4 hours a day (2:00 PM–6:00 PM).

From what I’ve gathered, Kaeng Krachan can’t be visited alone, and honestly, I doubt it’d be a great idea anyway... ;-)

Hope we might run into you there—we’re visiting Kaeng Krachan on July 18th and Kui Buri on July 22nd! :-D
