Bon voila, je pars le 15/9 pour le Perou ca fait 6 mois que j'attend cela.
🙂Je compte faire Lima (1j), Arequipa (colca 3 j ), Puno ( lac titicaca 2 j), et Cusco 8j donc ( Chemin Inca 4j ).
Pour finaliser mon voyage, je ne sais pas trop quoi faire et ou m'arreter sur le lac Titicaca.
Pour l'instant, je compte m'arreter a Puno et ensuite je sais pas??🙁
Est ce le meilleur endroit pour s'arreter ?
Quelle ile faut il absolument faire?
Quel circuit de 2j je peux faire ?
L'idéal serait que vous alliez à Copacabana, c-à-d la ville bolivienne située sur le Lac Titicaca afin de vous rendre une journée sur l'Isla del Sol. C'est tout bonnement magnifique. Que des paysages de carte postale.

Je devrais donc plutot saccrifier Puno ( donc l'ile taquille, uros et amantani pour aller jusquà Copacabana.
Il faut combien d'heure en bus de Puno a Copacabana.

Personnellement, je ne connais pas la Isla del Sol. En revanche, je suis allé un certain nombre de fois à Taquile et Amantani. C'est à cette dernière que va désormais ma préférence, notamment le côté "Pueblo", l'ouest de l'île où arrivent très peu de touristes. Je connais personnellement un certain nombre de familles dont je pourrai, si tu le souhaites, te communiquer les coordonnées. Passes-y une nuit, voire deux et rentre par Taquile: la marche de 45mn à flanc de côteau en balcon sur le lac, ainsi que la descente à pic sur l'embarcadère pour rentrer sur Puno sont deux moments qui procurent plein de bonheur.
Et cela ne te coûtera pas bien cher: environ 20$ les deux jours, sans passer par agence.

Autrement entre Puno et La Paz je me suis fixé 3 jours de vélo. C'est jouable ? J'ai du mal à estimer les distances pour l'Amérique latine, j'ai peur d'avoir de mauvaises surprises...

Pour l'estimation, je me suis fixé 70 km par jour sur 6 mois, avec jours de repos.
Je n'ai aucune idée de comment je vais réagir face à l'altitude car je ne suis jamais monté à plus de 2600 mètres (col du galibier).
Mais je sera ivite fixé, je grimpe directement à la Oroya à partir de Lima !
Ca te semble jouable ? sachant que d'habitude je fais plus de 100 km par jour de moyenne en Europe...

Alors là, oui, je pense que tu vas au casse-pipe . En 120-150 km, tu vas passer de 0 à 4834 m ( col de Anticona ) et cela sous un effort important.
Je ne connais pas ta forme, mais le fait de ne pas être habitué à la haute altitude te fait courir un très grand risque.
Un conseil: prend une bouteille d'oxygène, car sur la route tu seras seul sans secours eventuel (C'est ce que font les trekkeurs du chemin de l'inca, et effort est plus faible avec une altitude egalement plus faible)

Pour cette route j'avais quand même prévu de la faire en unesemaine, le temps justement de m'aclimater. Je pensais dormir une première nuit à 3000 mètres et d'y rester un ou deux jours, puis de monter un peu en dessous de 4000 et d'y rester également deux nuits, puis de terminer l'ascension... Ca me parait correct pour m'acclimater une semaien non ?
Sinon côté forme je viens de boucler un tour de 4000 km cet été. Pas en altitude c'est vrai, mais bien échauffé quand meme !
Pour ce qui est d'une bouteilel d'oxygène, ça setrouve facilement ? où ? à quel prix ?

je pense que tu as bien maitrisé le problème de l'altitude. Les premiers signes sont la fatigue et les maux de tête et chacun est different devant ce probleme.
Avec ta façon d'apprehender l'altitude, tu n'as peut-être pas besoin d'oxygène sinon renseigne toi dans les agences qui offrent des treks en montagne.

Ce qui est dommage dans ce genre d'acclimatation, (peu de KM entre chaque pallier) à part la beauté des paysages, il n'y a pas grand chose à faire . Et en plus, il fait encore frisquet à ces altitudes.
Tu envisages vraiment un exploit et j'espère que tu profiteras de tes repos dans les villes pour nous donner des nouvelles par le biais de ton site.

je ne connais que Copacabana et l'Isla del Sol au lac Titicaca.
C'est effectivement magnifique !
Nous étions allés ur l'Ile en bateau depuis Copacabana puis, nous avons traversé l'ile à pied ( ce que tout le monde fait quasiment), dormi sur l'ile. Ensuite nous avons trouvé quelqu'un qui nous a depose en face, puis nous sommes rentrés à pied à Copacabana en longeant la côte (4-5 heures environ ).

Nous avions fait un bout de la rive Est à pied (nuit à Huancane puis bus jusqu'à Jipata notre point de départ, puis Jipata-Moho-Conima) c'est absolument magnifique!!
Piste en balcon au-dessus du lac, quelques pentes mais toujours douces, vraiment un super souvenir et de très belles rencontres.
Pour info, il est possible de dormir à Huancane (hospedaje sur la place principale), à Moho (hotel assez neuf + chambres au-dessus d'une boutique sur la place principale, l'hotel est pas cher mais pas propre non plus), à Conima: petites chambres chez le papy qui tient la première boutique à droite en arrivant sur la place d'armes (tout en haut du village).
A noter que Moho se trouve au-delà du km 0... un peu après sur la gauche derrière un verrou montagneux.
Il n'y a absolument rien à Jipata (3 maisons seulement) et la distance Jipata-Conima est de 50 km. La frontière bolivienne ne doit plus être qu'à une trentaine de km (à vérifier).
Enfin, sur les 10 derniers km avant Conima que nous avions parcourus en début d'après-midi, nous avons croisé une trentaine de camions de "contre-bande" qui remontaient bien chargés de la frontière bolivienne vers Juliaca (ils nous arrivaient donc de face). La piste n'étant pas très large nous préférions les laisser passer en nous arretant dans le fossé. Mais on les entend arriver de loin et ils ne roulent pas vite. En passant plus tot ou plus tard, ce problème est évitable.
Si vous voulez quelques photos de l'itinéraire... Très beau coin en tout cas où nous n'avons pas croisé d'autres touristes et où les péruviens nous disaient "à pieds? mais c'est fatiguant, il faut le faire à vélo!"😉

Bon, tu me rassure pour le coup ! C'est vrai qu'il n'y aura pas forcément grand chose à fair, alors je profiterai des paysages en allant me balader. L'idée est de faire un effort physique par palier, et la marche à pied sera idéal en attendant le vélo !
Merci aussi pour les infos pour le lac titicaca. Je pense passer par le nord; J'aviserai une fois là-haut. POur ce qui est de l'hébergement je suis en tente... Il y a moyen de se baigner dans le lac ou alors il est vraiment trop froid ?!

PS : pour l'actualisation du site pas de problème, je le ferai régulièrement, environ toutes les semaines; A savoir que une école primaire, un collège et un lycée suivent l'aventure, alors faudra que je m'y tienne !
Je viens de rentrer du Pérou il y a 3 jours et j'ai fait les 2 cotés du lac.
Les 2 sont radicalement différents:
-Iles du Pérou: tu peux faire en 2 jours en partant à 8h en bateau "touristique" (30 soles AR): les iles flottantes d'Uros (1h30 à 2h d'arret) puis arrivée vers 14h à Amantani. Tu passes la nuit chez l'habitant, magnifique expérience humain, splendide coucher de soleil et départ le matin pour Taquile (3h à 4h d'arret avec dejeuner sur place) et retour vers 16h à Puno. En 2j tu peux voir 3 iles, très belles, coucher de soleil et expérience humaine
-Iles de Bolivie: tu peux le faire en 1 ou 2 jours. En 1 jour départ Copa à 8h30 - 2h de baeau pour Le nord de l'isla del sol - rando de 3h à 4h pour rejoindre le sud (Yumani) et retour via le sud à 15h30 ou en 2 jours avec nuit à Yumani pour le coucher de soleil logement en backpack.
Ce sont donc 2 approches différentes. J'ai largement préféré les iles péruviennes, plus jolies à mon sens que l'isla del sol, c'est plus varié et tu loges chez l'habitant.
Si tu décides de te rendre à Amantani, je ne peux que te recommander de passer directement par Olga dont la maman vit à Amantani. Olga va donc t'accompagner tout le long de ton périple comme "guide" privé, tu seras donc libre de te détacher du groupe de 20 pers qui va faire le même itinéraire que toi via des agences. 70 soles/pers pour le transport, le logement, la nourriture (sauf le dej de Taquile). C'est le même prix qu'une agence mais ça va directement à Olga et sa maman et pas 3 mois après... Et en plus tu logeras mieux et mangeras mieux que dans les autres familles. Juste pour dire de ne pas LOUPPER la Isla del Sol qui est une ile sublime, je peux te le garantir. Et tres franchement une journée ce n'est rien, le mieux c'est deux jours entiers, combien de personne y vont 1 journée comme moi et sont bien frustré.
C'est superbe, il y a de grande balade a faire et Copacabana c'est tres bien mieux que Puno.

Pour l'hotel, je te conseille le Cricarlet (cf carnet de voyage de Wapiti et le mien) : 160 calle Santiago Giraldo (a media cuadra del Parque Pino) – tél. (051) 354 085. C'est 25$/nuit avec pt dej et eau chade et accueil chaleureux. Mzis si tu cherches moins cher, tu auras l'emabarras du choix autour de la calle Lima.

Je n'ai reservé que l'hotel de Lima à l'avance. Ensuite sur place je téléphonais la veille pour le lendemain généralement, comme ça les gens de l'hotel viennent te chercher à ton arret de bus, de train, d'avion (à vérifier que c'est compris dans le px de la chambre) et ça t'évite de tourner pour trouver un hotel, ce qui m'est arrivé à Cusco.

Je serai au lac le 22/9.
Mais, j'ai deja vu une photo où une personne se baigner donc cela doit etre possible.
Mais bon une eau a 12 °. Ca me tente pas de trop.
Les 2 cotees du lac son beaux a voire mais vu ton intineraire t'as bien raison de rester cote Perou - Copacabana rajoute des kms a faire et t'aura un toute aussi bonne experience a Amantani. Le circuit standard est bien - et je dois dire je trouve Taquile manifique - ca a en aire mediteranean je trouve.
Nous avons passé 4 jours formidables dans l'île d'AMANTANI.
Mais de nombreux habitants avec lesquels nous avons discuté tout autour de l´île nous
ont confié qu'une des nombreuses agences de tourisme de Puno vendant des visites avec
nuit chez l'habitant ne payait personne depuis plusieurs mois.
Il s'agit de l’agence INCA-TOURS.
D'une discussion cordiale avec INCA-TOURS, il ressort que la situation est
complexe. Il n'est pas prouvé qu' INCA-TOURS soit coupable. Des intermediares
censés distribuer l'argent aux familles pourraient aussi détourner l’argent (chefs de
communauté ?)
Ce qui est certain, c’est que cela représente un gros manque a gagner pour les familles de l'île, parfois très modestes et qui ne savent pas comment faire valoir leurs droits.
DANS LE DOUTE, préférez aller sur Amantani par une autre agence ou, mieux, par
vos propres moyens (Bateau collectif le matin a 8h20 : 10 ou 15 Soles l’aller simple). Une fois sur l île vous n'aurez aucun mal a trouver un lit chez l’habitant, pour environ 15-20 soles, avec un diner frugal et un petit dejeuner.
Vous pouvez aussi régler à l’agence la part qui lui revient puis payer la famille directement pour l’hébergement et les repas.
En outre, les habitants de l'île vous en delivreront mieux les secrets que les
guides des agences, provenant souvent d'autres régions du Pérou.
Les îles des Uros étant saturées, le tourisme sur Amantani est croissant,
ainsi que la présence de l’argent. Soyons attentifs aux dérives, dont les plus
pauvres et les plus honnêtes sont toujours les victimes finales.

We're planning a trip to southern Chile in November. Here's our tentative itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.
Day 5: Boat tour on Laguna San Rafael.
Day 6: Day trip to Monte San Valentin Glacier.
Day 7: Excursion to the Marble Chapels, then drive to Puerto Guadal. We'll stay there for 3 nights.
Day 8: Walk along Lago Carrera and return to Puerto Guadal.
Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.
What do you think of this itinerary? Is it doable in 17 days?

04/12: Cocora Valley (hike among the wax palms) followed by a drive around the area. Are there any waterfalls or other sights nearby?

I’ve sketched out a rough itinerary but I’m not sure how to arrange it—considering the climate, year-end holidays, and Carnival.
Basically, I’m thinking of the Amazon, the Northeast coast with Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (but skipping Chapada Diamantina),
Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit.

After lots of research and quotes, it’s the only one offering Uyuni at a reasonable price while meeting all the criteria: transfer to the border, private-room accommodation, and a very fair rate. Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.
My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?
In France, banks don’t issue credit cards, right—or am I mistaken?

I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca.
From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?
Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule?
After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?
The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!
I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.
I wrapped up in Sucre—this city is gorgeous, all white, with such a chill vibe. And the salteñas + ice cream? Next level 😋
Bottom line: Bolivia’s a bit rough around the edges, sometimes exhausting (shoutout to the altitude), but it’s 1000% worth it.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?

1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

we’re planning a round trip from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, to Salta, Argentina, in two months. On the way there, we’ll take the northern route via Susques, Route 27, then 52. But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...
I’ve seen that we can stop over in San Antonio de los Cobres.

we’ll be in Calama at the end of March 2026, and I’m looking for a reliable car rental there for a 7-day road trip to Salta, Argentina. But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.

Three years ago during a trip to Java (no, I didn’t post in the wrong forum!), I came across the address of former miners who had switched to “tourism” and organized nighttime ascents of the Kawah Ijen volcano and descents into the crater.
