Préférable si vous allez faire des expéditions en montagnes mais si vous allez sur la plage les risques sont vraiment minimes. En fait en République Dominicaine les risques ne justifient pas les inconvénients que les médicaments préventifs peuvent causer.

Pour ma part, sur la bord de la mer je n'ai même vu aucun moustique lorsque j'y suis allée. S'il y a des moustiques la crème Watkins va faire grandement l'affaire.

C'est la troisième année de suite que mon médecin me conseille de prendre des comprimés pour prévenir la malaria. Effectivement, Santé Canada recommande de prendre un médicament antipalurien même s'il n'y a pas d'excursions en dehors des complexes hôteliers. La première année, j'ai pris la chloroquine. Aucun effet secondaire sauf un petit arrière goût pendant la prise du médicament. Par contre, j'ai pris le malarone l'année dernière et aucun effet secondaire........Mon médecin prendra les informations nécessaires au début mars à savoir s'il est encore recommandé de prendre un antipalurien pour mon voyage de fin mars..........Le mieux est de s'informer auprès de son médecin à mon avis......

🤪 je suis allée en republique 5 fois et je retourne au mois de fevrier (bahia punta cana )...je ne prend pas de traitement...trop d'inconveniant...j'y suis allée avec ma fille en decembre 2008 et pas de probleme. les hotel traite contre les moustiques...par contre si vous partez dans un 2 etoile ou que vous faite la semaine en excursion avec votre baluchon sur le dos !!! peut etre la, vous auriez un probleme.

Moi je me dit que j'ai du pot, toutes ces années ici, sans rien attraper, peut-être c'est de la chance, j'aimerais savoir, combien de touristes dans ces grands hôtels ont attrapés autres chose qu'une gueule de bois ou une "tourista".
Honetement, si c'est pour aller dans un pays comme je le lis souvent, plein de moustiques, de maladies impossibles, de chauffards sur les routes, de voleurs et assassins dans les rues, d'arnaqueurs sur les plages, j'en passe et des meilleurs aux vues de tous les posts de ces dernères années, je me demande si les gens ne se trompe pas de destination.

Houla! ce n'est pas antipaludéen OU chasse-moustique, mais les deux, et si choix, c'est chasse-moustique impératif. Sinon, risque de dengue....

Pour revenir aux effets secondaires, aucun pour moi ni ma chum de fille. Comme je l'ai dit plus haut, c'est lors de l'ingurgitation que le problème est survenu... la pilule passe "croche" au point où j'ai passé tout près de m'étouffer... et ma chum l'a vomi aussitôt pour la même raison. En sachant ça, suffit de prendre cette médication avec beaucoup, beaucoup d'eau! Mais une fois dans l'estomac, pas de problème. Faut dire que chaque personne est plus ou moins sensible aux effets secondaires. Faut aussi dire que le traitement se fait en 6 doses, soit une dose par semaine pour 6 semaines. Vraiment pas compliqué!
En passant, j'ai vu sur internet que la chloroquine aurait des propriétés anti-VIH!!! Si c'est vrai, il semblerait que certains effets secondaires soit aussi bénéfiques! voir à cette adresse:

Nous étions bien contents d'avoir pris la décision de prendre la médication. Sachez que Punta Cana est située dans la province à risque. Pour notre part nous n'avons pas d'effets secondaire et nous sommes à notre quatrième semaine de traitement. Nous avalons 2 comprimés une fois par semaine pour un total de 7 semaines. Nous avons commencé le traitement 1 semaine avant de partir.

Oui, ça je le savais. La malaria ou paludisme est une grave maladie grosse fièvre, douleurs musculaires, parfois de la toux, frissons, vomissements et diarrhée. C'est très sérieux. Alors, si on peut prévenir au moins cette maladie avec la médication, bien tant mieux. Pour ce qui de la maladie du Nil transmise aussi par les moustiques, à ce que je sache elle n'est pas présente en RD et je crois qu'il n'existe pas de traitement de prévention. Elle a fait son apparition en Amérique il y a déjà quelques années et ce que les autorités en santé publique font, au printemps, ils étendent dans les marais, aux abords des rivières et des lacs, là où se reproduisent les moustiques, des insecticides et on nous demande de ne jamais garder dans nos cours de l'eau stagnante. Bref, je pourrais continuer ainsi mais bon tout ceci pour te dire

La dernière fois que j'y suis allez, j'ai eu quelques piqures et cela sans prendre d'excursions. Le soir, les moustiques sont plus présent sur les sites et ce même que j'avais du chasse moustique.

J'ai un ami qui a la malaria et je peux te dire que ce n'est vraiment pas drôle, il fait de longs séjours a l'hopital depuis des années. Bien sur on a toujours le choix de prendre des médicaments ou non, le choix nous reviens a chacun de nous. Personnellement nous n'avons pas eu d'effets secondaire lorsque nous avons pris les médicaments anti-palu.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?

I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question: Has anyone here had any experience with this? (Even if it’s a different medication or different countries, any input would be helpful!)

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
Have any of you been in this situation before? How does it work at customs—do I need to declare everything that exceeds the 3-month limit? Do I need a letter from my doctors?

I often have unexplained allergies and need to follow a daily treatment for my diabetes (insulin). I think I can get authorization from my doctor to travel for 6 months with the treatment—is that correct? After those 6 months, is it possible (instead of bothering a relative to send the medication) to see a foreign doctor to get another 6-month travel authorization? How does it work at the airport? Do I need just one medication transport authorization, or do I have to request a new one in each country (once the treatment runs out) for both the flight and a DCI? We’ve planned a 3-week trip to Bali this summer with our 7-year-old daughter. The itinerary includes Sanur, Nusa Lembongan, Sidemen, Amed, and Ubud. The more time passes, the more we read about people getting sick—some with mild to severe traveler’s diarrhea, and many ending up in the hospital. We, as parents, have been through it in Egypt with pretty bad cases, but we’d really like to avoid that for our daughter.
