De retour de cette belle croisière j'entema un c.r. qui, je l'espère, pourra être utile aux futurs croisièristes intéressés par cette destination.
A peine rentrés fin mars 2016 de notre transatlantique à bord du C. Deliziosa (cfr le cr de Micy) pensions-nous déjà à la suivante !
La préparation
Ce qui motive avant tout notre choix c'est la destination. Ns avions beaucoup aimé l'océan indien et avons donc opté à nouveau pour cette région. Entre temps-temps (bonne nouvelle) le Costa Club m'informe que désormais mon statut passe à Perla Diamante. Je réserve une cabine avec balcon à côté de celle que ns occupions en 2015. Cette fois-ci est inclus dans le prix de la cabine le forfait boissons "intenditore". Costa ns offre également un crédit de 75€ p/p soit 150€ à dépenser à bord.
Pour le vol ns avons choisi la cie Emirates avec un stop à Dubaï. Emirates accorde à l'aller 20kgs de bagages et au retour 30kgs ! ! (Dubaï est réputé pour le shopping). Il y 6 ans ns étions descendu à l'hôtel Ibis ds le quartier de Deira à 10 minutes de l'aéroport. Cette fois ns avons réservé au Novotel situé dans le même bâtiment.

Les excursions
J'ai beaucoup suivi sur le forum les échanges sur ce sujet. Ns ne maîtrisons pas l'anglais et dans cette région c'est la langue utilisée partout. L'Alliance Française à Bombay à qui j'ai envoyé une demande de renseignements n'a pas daigné répondre à mon mail ! Donc par facilité, par sécurité & pour éviter les complications j'ai acheté les excursions chez Costa.
Le départ
Jeudi 9 février : le décollage est prévu à 14h25 mais l'avion partira avec un léger retard car il a fallu dégivrer les ailes. Vol très agréable avec un personnel de cabine aux petits soins. Les repas étaient également corrects avec un choix varié de boissons avec ou sans alcool. Après 6hrs de vol arrivée à Dubaï à minuit trente (hre locale). Après les formalités d'immigration/contrôle des passeports sont longues on peut récupérer les bagages et se rendre à la station des taxis où des régulateurs dirigent les arrivants vers les taxis. Un conseil : éviter ds la mesure du possible les taxis conduits par des femmes. Elles sont peu aimables ne placent pas vos bagages ds le coffre (à vous de vous débrouiller). Tandis que les chauffeurs masculins sont en général serviables & aimables. Pas de chance ce soir-là ns avons récupérer une conductrice .... et je confirme mon propos.
Ns sommes arivés à 1h30 au Novotel où le portier s'est immédiatement chargé de nos bagages.
Côut du taxi aéroport/hôtel 45AED.
Vendredi 10 février
Après une grasse matinée & un bon petit-déjeuner nous nous baladons dans le quartier et constatons beaucoup de changements depuis notre dernier séjour : en face de l'hôtel a été construit un mall avec un hyper Carrefour ! ! Ns prenons ensuite un taxi jusqu'au Dubaï Mall (au pied de la tour Burj Khalifa) pr 45AED. Après une ballade shopping dans le mall (la cascade aux plongeurs a été agrandie, l'aquarium à tjrs autant de succès) ns déjeunons dans un agréable restaurant libanais en face de la pièce d'eau & prenons un taxi pour ns rendre à Dubaï Marina.
C'est assez loin, le chauffeur ns prévient que suite à des travaux il sera obligé de faire un détour & d'allonger la course. Coût 60 US$. Sur place ns réservons une ballade d'1hr30 en mer à bord d'un petit bateau rapide.Ns étions 6 passagers. Expérience formidable : Dubaï vu de la mer.
De retour à la Marina ns reprenons un taxi pour rentrer à l'hôtel cette fois-ci par le chemin direct (75AED). Nous dînons à l'hôtel après avoir fait l'enregistrement électronique de nos billets.
Novotel offre, sur l'ordinateur de l'hôtel, 20 min. d'internet gratuites.

Samedi 11 février
Le check-in de notre vol ouvrant à 6h40 ns quittons l'hôtel à 6h30. Le portier arrête un taxi qui ns dépose au terminal 3 dEmirates. (300AED) La dépose des bagages est rapide mais au contrôle de l'immigration c'est déjà la grande foule. Le départ prévu à 9h40 est à l'heure & après 4hrs de vol ns arrivons à Male vers 15hrs (hre locale). A l'arrivée il faut remplir un formulaire d'entrée sur le territoire (nb si vs repartez de Malé il faudra rendre la partie inférieure du formulaire ). Après avoir récupéré les bagages, enlevé les étiquettes Emirates, mis les étiquettes Costa ns sortons de l'aéroport et apercevons Julia qui agite sa pancarte Costa. Elle ns conduit vers un petit kiosque au bord de l'eau. Ns montrons nos cartes d'embarquement, nos valises sont prises en charge et ns montons ds le petit bateau en bois qui fait la navette entre le quai de l'aéroport et le navire ancré dans la rade. Un autre couple ns rejoint et ns partons vers le bateau. Nous voilà enfin à bord.
Après la photo direction le pont 9 au salon Pucini où se trouvent les autorités maldiviennes qui vérifient nos passeports, les tamponent et les remettent à Costa qui les gardera jusqu'au débarquement. Nous enregistrons notre carte de crédit à une borne et gagnons notre cabine.
Posés sur le lit nous trouvons nos cartes Costa, nos billets d'excursion, le diario di bordo, le menu du dîner, un plan du bateau, une invitation à nous présenter au maître d'hôtel du Tivoli etc etc ...sur la petite table la bouteille de proseco ds le seau à glace, une assiette de petits fours, la corbeille de fruits.

Samedi 11 février (suite)
Notre cabinière se prénomme Olga, serait-elle russe ? Non c'est une colombienne. Elle est super sympa. Un peu plus tard se présente notre majordome Wayou un indonésien. Il ns confirme que ns disposons librement du contenu du mini-bar et de la machine à café. C'est lui qui ns apportera nos valises.
On s'installe, on retrouve avec plaisir le Classica et ... il est déjà l'heure de l'apéro (en musique ds le grd bar P.Navona) suivi du dîner. Au restaurant c'est désormais free-sitting il n'y a plus de 1er/2e service chacun se rend au restaurant à l'heure qui lui convient à partir de 19h30 jusque 21hr30. Un espace est réservé aux passagers des suites & au perla diamante. Il y a également un espace réservé au théâtre (les premiers rangs).
Nous faisons connaissance d'Emilic & Ignacio qui seront aux petits soins pour nous durant toute la croisière.
Dimanche 12 février
Excursion OOsr "détente au paradis island resort".
Lever tôt. A 7hrs Wayou ns apporte le petit-déjeuner. Ns recevons nos petits autocollants au bar P.Navona & à 7h45 ns embarquons ds un petit bateau en bois. Ns sommes un petit groupe de d'une vingtaine de personnes. Après environ 45 m. de navigation sur une mer assez agitée ns débarquons à l'atoll de Paradis Island.
Ns sommes accueillis avec un verre de bienvenue. Les amateurs de snorkeling reçoivent du matériel en prêt. Ns préférons explorer ce petit paradis et ns reposer sur la plage. La piscine du resort est interdite aux visiteurs. En début d'après-midi c'est le retour au bateau. Le buffet est encore ouvert et ns prenons une collation sur le pont extérieur.
A 18hrs a lieu le fastidieux mais indispensable exercice de sécurité. Et à 19hrs le NeoClassica appareille à destination de Colombo.
Lundi 13 février
Journée en mer. Ce soir, au théâtre, a lieu le cocktail de bienvenue du Costa Club offert par le Commandant Mario Moretta. Sur le forum il y eu souvent des post concernant le comportement des enfants et de certains passagers : voici la copie d'un avis du Diario di bordo (ex-Today)
Mardi 14 février Colombo
Excursion 6062"Colombo entre présent & passé".
Rassemblement à 8h30 au bar Piazza Navona & départ en autocar. Une partie s'est faite en car une autre à pieds. Visite de la cathédrale Ste Lucie (sous une forte chaleur), du centre ville très animé avec les anciens bâtimentts officiels du temps des anglais, d'un temple boudhiste. Pour terminer par le traditionnel shopping center proposant des produits locaux, des pierres précieuses, des tissus, des souvenirs pr touristes etc...
Nous avions songé choisir l'excursion Pinnawela (orphelinat des éléphants) mais subir 5hrs de car pour nourrir quelques éléphants ! ! Ceux qui y participé n'ont guère été satisfaits de cette excursion.
Le soir à l'ocasion de la St Valentin les dames ont reçu une rose rouge à l'entrée du restaurant.
A notre retour en cabine nous avons trouvé une autre bouteille de proseco.
C'est nouveau ces règles pour les familles🙂 ! je ne m'en souviens pas lors de notre croisière sur ce même bateau l'été dernier quoique je ne me souviens pas non plus avoir été dérangée par les enfants😉
Mercredi 15 février
Journée en mer. Le matin entre 9 & 13hrs au salon Puccini procédure d'immigration pour l'entrée en Inde : vérification du visa, remise d'une photocopie du passeport à tjrs avoir sur soi & une carte jaune à exhiber pour sortir ou entrer dans le port.
Déjeuner au buffet à l'extérieur pour profiter du soleil et de la vue sur la mer. A 15hrs ns avons rendez-vous avec Lisa Dust l'hôtesse en charge des francophones pour la visite des "entrailles" du navire (à l'exclusion de la passerelle). Ns sommes 2 + Lisa c'est presque une visite privée. Se joignent à nous 4 italiens avec leur hôtesse, plus un couple de sikhs dont le fils est officier à bord.
L'agent de sécurité Alloc est chargé de ns escorter. Interdiction de prendre des photos mais ce fut vraiment très intéressant : visite des coulisses du théâtre, des loges des artistes, du coin où sont rangés les costumes, la machinerie de la scène etc..Après ce fut les endroits de vie de l'équipage : leurs réfectoires, les logements, leur petit bar, les immenses lavoirs, les différentes chambres froides avec les tonnes de marchandises, l'atelier de compression des déchets, les ateliers de réparation, les cuisines ....
Et pour terminer la journée à 20h30 cocktail Perla Diamante avec le commandant au salon Puccini.
Jeudi 16 février Marmugao (Goa)
Arrivée prévue à 9hrs, ns avons donc le temps de prendre le petit-déjeuner au restaurant Tivoli où le service se fait à la commande (menu) ou au buffet. Ns avions réservé l'excursion 01MU "visite de maison typique de Goa" mais celle-ci est annulée : pas assez de participants.
Ns l'avons remplaçée par la 6045"gastronomie & culture de Goa & plantation".
Départ à 9h30. Guide sympa mais ne parle que l'anglais. Durant le trajet on longe les chantiers de démantèlement des navires désarmés. On atteint la vielle ville que l'on visite en car. Ensuite une halte "technique" pour ceux qui en ont besoin. Cet arrêt se fait ds un magasin où l'on trouve de très beaux cachemires & autres souvenirs. Continuation jusqu'au très beau temple Sri Nageshi que l'on peut visiter. Ensuite le car ns dépose sur la grande esplanade où se trouvent d'un côté la cathédrale Ste Catherine & de l'autre côté la basilique du Bom Jesus ds laquelle est conservé le corps de St François Xavier.
Après la visite libre on repart vers la plantation d'épices : très bel endroit, découverte intéressante. Ns avons reçu un excellent déjeuner composé de mets locaux présentés en buffet avec boissons au choix. Et c'est le retour vers le port. A 17hrs appareillage pour Bombay.

Vendredi 17 février Bombay
Le navire se positionne dans la zone des containers car le terminal de croisières est occupé par un bateau allemand le Mein Shift. La place sera libérée en fin de journée et le Classica pourra s'y placer.
Notre excursion : la 6029 "les grottes d'Elephanta & la ville de Mumbai" Ns avons été prévenu qu'elle sera guidée en anglais & italien. Heureusement Selsia la guide outre l'anglais maîtrise parfaitement le français. A la sortie du port ns devons quitter le car & pénétrer ds le poste militaire pour un nouveau contrôle. Et ns plongeons ds la circulation démente de la ville. Ns atteignons la Porte de l'Inde (magnifique) où après un noouveau contrôle des sacs ns embarquons sur un petit bateau pittoresque qui ns emmène à l'Ile d'Elephanta. Au débarcadère on peut utiliser, pour aller jusqu'aux grottes, un petit train ou s'y rendre à pieds (environ une 1/2h). C'est très pittoresque : au milieu des échoppes et de la foule se baladent quelques vaches, des chèvres, beaucoup de chiens et des singes chapardeurs. Pour atteindre les grottes il faut monter 120 marches ... ou louer une sorte de chaise avec 4 porteurs.
Après la visite des grottes ns avons reçu des rafraîchissement servis sur la terrasse panoramique. Le retour a lieu en début d'après-midi. Bombay vu de la mer est magnifique. Ns avons repris le car pour un tour ds la ville : Marina Drive, tour de l'horloge, l'université, la gare etc... Vers 14h30 arrêt ds un hôtel le long de la mer pour un déjeuner-buffet délicieux de cuisine indienne. En fin d'après-midi la visite se poursuit : la maison où Gandhi a séjourné, les lavoirs de Dhobi Gat....les embouteillages ns ralentissent beaucoup & il est 21hrs lorsque ns regagnons le bateau. Mais pas de problèmes : le Tivoli est ouvert jusque 21h30 et le buffet jusque 23h.
Ce fut une belle journée.

Samedi 18 février Bombay
Lever très très tôt car notre excursion O1LT "bonjour Mumbaï" démarre à 5h15 bien avant le lever du soleil. Le car ns dépose à la gare et ns embarquons dans un train au confort local qui ns emmène jusqu'au marché matinal ( fleurs & légumes) de Bombay. Marché très animé, coloré et grouillant. Il fait encore noir et prenons garde de ne pas perdre de vue notre guide. Expérience inoubliable. Lorsque ns sortons du marché le jour s'est levé ns retrouvons notre car qui ns conduit jusqu'au monastère d'Iskon dédié à Krishna. On ns offre du thé ou du café fortement épicé. Après ce réconfort il est temps de déchausser et de se rendre à l'intérieur du temple où ns assistons au rituel de la prière matinale avec musique & danses. C'etait très joyeux. En fin de matinée retour au bateau. Ns déjeunons au buffet du pont 10 et consacrons l'après-midi au repos sur notre balcon.

Dimanche 19 février Bombay
Excursion 6033"A la découverte de Mumbai à pieds"
Départ à 8h15. Ns avons donc pris le petit-déjeuner en cabine. Excursion en allemand & anglais, une partie en bus, une partie pédestre. Faisons le tour des principaux bâtiments/monuments de la ville : la gare, le palais de l'armée, le collège St Xavier, la bibliothèque Vidal Sassoon etc...
Dans le quartier certains participants ayant besoin d'un arrêt "technique" la guide s'est adressée au gardien d'un magasin de luxe et celui-ci a accepté d'ouvrir le magasin avant l'heure prévue, avant l'arrivée de vendeurs ! ! Ns avons pu visiter la cathédrale St Thomas après la messe. Près du parvis la guide ns a offert du thé au lait (très épicé) commandé à un marchand ambulant.
Ensuite ns avons parcouru un grand lavoir en plein air très impressionnant et visité un marché
( oiseaux, épices, fruits, fleurs etc...) Ns sommes retournés à la Porte de l'Inde où c'était la grande foule. Retour au bateau à 14h30. Après avoir déjeuner au buffet ns sommes redescendus ds la terminal pour effectuer quelques achats.
Lundi 20 février
Journée en mer. Ns avons encore reçu une boouteille de proseco !
Mardi 21 février New Mangalore
Ce port très industriel ne m'a pas emballé. Costa devrait supprimer cette escale et rester un jour de plus à Cochin.
Excursion 01HG "dans l'arrière pays" uniquement en anglais. Visite de la ville en car. En route ns avons aperçu des paons sauvages ds les broussailles. Ns avons visité un village de pêcheurs et
un marché aux poissons. Bref rien d'extraordinaire.
Mercredi 22 février Cochin
Notre excursion 6342 "principales attractions de Cochin & croisière ds le port". Visite de la ville : le quartier Mattanchery, la palais hollandais, la rue des juifs, l'église St François, la petite synagogue,
le marché au poisson très pittoresque, les boutiques très colorées, le bord de mer avec les
spectaculaires filets de pêche ....ensuite ns avons embarqué sur un petit bateau jusqu'aux îles
Vallarpadam, Gundu (où des dauphins sont venus nager près du bateau) Bolghatty où ns avons abordé pour prendre une collation à un buffet dressé sur la pelouse d'un hôtel au bord de l'eau.
A 17hrs départ du bateau pour Malé.
Vendredi 24 février
Retour à Malé. Le matin ns aons pris un ticket pour utiliser le service de chaloupes jusque la ville de Malé. Nous flâner dans la ville & regagné le bateau en fin de matinée. L'après-midi sera consacré à la préparation des bagages, récupération des passeports, procéder à l'enregistrement électronique de nos billets d'avion.
Après le dîner ns avons dit au-revoir à nos gentils serveurs, à Olga etc...
Samedi 25 février
Ns avons pris une des premières chaloupes reliant le bateau à l'aéroport.
Ns sommes arrivés à 14h30 à Dubaï. Ns avons retrouvé le Novotel et avons profité de notre
après-midi pour faire un peu de shopping au Dubai Mall.
Le lendemain ns quittions Dubaï à 8h20 et à 12h45 ns étions de retour à Bruxelles.
Conclusion
Ns avons été très satisfaits de notre croisière. C'était notre 3ème croisière à bord du C. Classica. Ns trouvons ce bateau très agréable.
La nourriture est excellente & variée.
Lisa Durst l'hôtesse en charge des francophones est formidable. Elle est très efficace, aime son travail & est tjrs disponible. Ce n'est pas tjrs le cas.
Ns gardons un excellent souvenir de nos serveurs, de Kevin (bureau des excursions) qui sut rester stoïque face à l'agressivité d'un passager. Sans oublier Viktor & Aloc.

We’re back from this cruise.
Boarding in Dunkirk: The doors opened around 12 PM. Since we were a bit early, I asked if my husband, who uses a walker, could wait inside instead of outside. I left him with the two suitcases and our two backpacks in the small hall while I parked the car in the reserved CFC parking lot for 10 € per day.
The shuttle that was supposed to take people from the parking lot to the model pavilion was supposed to arrive in 5 minutes, but after 15 minutes, nothing. After waiting 15 minutes, I saw a man walking and asked if I could follow him. In 15 minutes, we arrived, and still no sign of the shuttle—it must have passed us. Arrived at the model pavilion.
My husband had already checked in the suitcases with the help of a CFC staff member. The remaining formalities were completed quickly. We were on board by 12:15 PM. Headed to the buffet on deck 11 and waited in a lounge to access our cabin.
At 2 PM, we discovered our balcony cabin on deck 9 at the rear: spacious with a large balcony compared to MSC/COSTA.
Since we were at the rear, cabin 9202, there was always an issue with elevator number 4: "priority."
Elevator number 2 stops at deck 10... and elevator number 3 was often out of order, leaving only number 1 for those with mobility issues to reach the buffet, especially for people who struggle with stairs. Note: only one child on board and lots of "gray hair."
DAY 2: At sea. Lots of activities offered.
Day 3: GOTHENBURG (Sweden). Sunny, 19°C at 11 AM.
Excursion booked with CFC: Gothenburg and Haga for all.
Interesting visit with a great guide. The HAGA district, in our opinion, is full of cobblestones and nothing special, not suitable for people using a cane or wheelchair. Elevator number 3 was out of order again.
Day 4: Copenhagen. 15°C in the morning, showers in the afternoon.
We didn’t book an excursion since we’d already stopped here with CFC in 2025, and based on advice from this forum, we took the hop-on/hop-off bus right in front of the ship. I still went to see the Little Mermaid again.
No TV, but the elevator was fixed.
DAY 5: At sea. Still no TV.
DAY 6: GDANSK (Poland). 15°C, rain all day.
There’s a shuttle to get to the city center.
We took the excursion: Panorama of Gdansk.
The guide left us at the entrance of the city center for 45 minutes, telling us what to visit. Meet-up for the rest of the tour at 3 PM. The bus left at 3:15 PM to cover 10 km to see St. Mary’s Cathedral. We arrived at 4:16 PM... The guide said there are often traffic jams in that direction. We had 10 minutes on site before heading to see the lighthouse and the Westerplatte monument, where we also had 10 minutes.
Many of us wondered why we didn’t do the tour in the opposite direction since they knew there would be traffic...
I went to reception to complain about the organization. The staff member read me the program: we were supposed to start with the lighthouse, then go to the cathedral and stay for 30 minutes before heading to the center of Gdansk for a short guided walk with some free time to buy souvenirs, etc.
The guide did the complete opposite of what was planned and didn’t even give us a guided tour—just dropped us off in the city...
DAY 7: Bornholm Island (Denmark). 14°C, a few sunny spells.
We saw in the excursions that there was a walking tour of RØNNE. So, like many others, we explored on our own. There was a small orchestra welcoming us at the port and two people with city maps. We took the shuttle to leave the port—it ran every 15 minutes. The tourist office was next to the "shuttle bus." A pleasant visit at our own pace.
DAY 8: KIEL (Germany). 18–23°C, nice weather.
We took the "Kiel for all" excursion. Great guide and interesting visits.
The port is in the city, and in 10 minutes, we were in the city center by following a blue line on the ground from the port. Elevator 3 was stuck again... and the TV was back.
DAY 9: At sea. Elevator 3 works.
DAY 10: At sea. Elevator 3 is out of order again...
DAY 11: Disembarkation in Dunkirk.
Cabins had to be vacated by 7:30 AM. Buffet open until 9 AM.
Elevator number 1 was "reserved," leaving only number 2, which doesn’t go up to deck 11... a problem for people with mobility issues who had to cross the entire deck 11 and try to use one of the four working elevators at the front, which were crowded.
My opinion: Interesting stops.
The onboard staff were always welcoming, smiling, and mostly French-speaking.
Evening shows were better than in March/April 2025—better singers, dancers, and presenters, and the costumes were improved.
I liked the "magician" shows less.
There were three onboard lectures by a very cultured person, but they went off-topic and were too historical for my taste. I didn’t attend the other two; my husband went to the second but not the third.
For this cruise, there was a bridge theme, but we’re not players or interested.
We didn’t take a drink package on board—water, coffee, tea, and herbal teas were available.
We had a water leak in our cabin the night before disembarkation. We reported it, and after the technical staff came (with a translator who didn’t speak English), we were asked to leave the cabin for a while for repairs. We went to a lounge, and after 1.5 hours, I checked in at reception. The repair took longer than expected... we had to change cabins... not ideal the night before disembarkation. No balcony cabins were available, so we got an ocean-view cabin, 6075, with a bathtub (impossible for both of us to use). We packed our suitcases, took a shower in our cabin, and moved to the new one. Noise from chairs until 12:30 AM because the cabin was under a lounge, and constant ventilation noise in the hallway... sleep was hard to come by.
Disembarkation: Well organized. We were helped with transporting the two suitcases and bags to the waiting room while I took the shuttle to get the car.

What about breakfast and meals served free in the cabin, and the spa?
Costa’s been cutting back on perks for Gold members, and it seems like suites are next.

It’s with immense sadness that I learned this morning of the passing of our friend Nathalie (nadu). Many of us knew her through this forum, which she loved so much. She enjoyed reading your travel stories, joining discussions, sharing her cruise reviews, and offering valuable advice—always with kindness, gentleness, and discretion.
For me, Nathalie was so much more than just a cruise enthusiast. She was a friend, a deeply kind person who was always there to listen, despite the many health challenges she faced with tremendous courage. We corresponded regularly, and sometimes we had the chance to visit each other’s homes or attend the cruise show together with our respective husbands.
We shared a common dream: when we both retired, we had planned to finally go on a cruise together. Life had other plans, and that trip will forever remain a journey we never had the chance to take. That thought weighs heavily on my heart today.
I’ll remember her as a gentle, generous woman who was always ready to help others. Her presence on this forum will leave a huge void, just as her friendship has in my life.
I send my sincerest thoughts to her husband, her family, and all those who had the chance to know her.
Fair winds, Nathalie. I like to think you’re now sailing on an infinitely calm sea, under an eternally blue sky. You’ll remain in our thoughts and hearts every time we talk about cruises or set off on a new journey.

There’s also a stop in Rotterdam, and it seems there’s a "miniature village to visit" nearby. Has anyone here been there, and if so, how did you get there?

hi there, a group of friends and I are going on a cruise at the end of June with CFC in Norway. I’d love to get some info on the different stops we’ll be making. Most of them are one-day stops (from around 10 AM to 8 PM on average). Here are the stops: Andalsnes, Trondheim, Honningsvåg, Alta, Hellesylt, Sandane, Austefjorden.

We’ll be sailing on the Renaissance with CFC to southern Norway from July 4 to 11, 2026, departing from Dunkirk (the cruise was booked through "Planète Croisière").
When entering some personal details or pre-selecting options on the CFC website, I’m wondering about the "optional" categories for drinks and WiFi.
I’m actually a bit surprised by these extra charges, as we weren’t used to them on other cruises (Australis in Patagonia; Hurtigruten’s Coastal Express in Norway and Alaska; Rivages du Monde in the Arctic or on the Douro River; a Nile river cruise in Egypt), where we sometimes had access to basic drinks at meals and free WiFi when near land.
Anyway, for those who’ve already taken a CFC cruise on the Renaissance, could you share some advice? Specifically about the most basic drink package, called "Fraîcheur" (238 € for two), which doesn’t seem to be described anywhere. The "Premium" package seems excessive (490 € for two for the week) for light drinkers.
As for WiFi, it’s 10 € per day per person. While I find that price acceptable for parking our car in Dunkirk, it feels overpriced here (especially since it was free on the Nordlys "Coastal Express" just 3 or 4 years ago).
So, I’d love to hear from experienced cruisers who’ve been on this ship!

The uniqueness of the promenade cabins appeals to us, but could anyone give us some insights on the following points:
- Is the glass door sufficiently tinted to prevent outsiders from seeing into the cabin?
- Is the soundproofing good enough to block out conversations on the promenade deck?

As promised, here’s my review of the cruise I took from the 5th to the 19th on the MSC Virtuosa.
As you know, I had initially booked a cruise with Mein Schiff departing from Dubai (from Dubai to Cape Town). It was a 22-day cruise. Due to the issues in the Persian Gulf, my cruise was canceled by Mein Schiff.
So, we started looking for a Plan B because we really wanted to go. Especially my wife, who had just had a minor procedure and needed some rest. Since she had already taken time off, she was determined to travel. However, we were looking for an affordable Plan B since we weren’t sure when Mein Schiff or the airline would reimburse us.
While browsing online, I found a 15-day cruise departing from Pointe-à-Pitre (including flights, transfers, the cruise, and drinks) for a price of 1,200 € in a Fantastica balcony cabin. We thought, *Why not?*
I should mention that I’m not usually a big fan of MSC. My last experience with them was post-Covid (I took two cruises, one in 2021 and another in 2022), and it was honestly a disaster. We didn’t want to repeat that, but after talking to Catherine, who told me she was very happy with a short Christmas cruise, we decided to give it a try.
I have to say, I was left speechless. Honestly, the cruise was absolutely perfect. There’s nothing to complain about (or just a few minor details). In terms of service and food, I felt like I was on a premium cruise line. I’d even say MSC has nothing to envy from some of those companies. While premium lines like Holland, Celebrity, and Royal are cutting back on services, I think MSC has made huge improvements. Seriously, I wasn’t expecting this at all. You’ll see what I mean as we chat more.
I won’t do a full review like I usually do because there weren’t many stops:
1. We boarded in Pointe-à-Pitre
2. We stopped in Saint-Martin
3. Then it was a direct crossing to the Azores...
This cruise was really about relaxing, even if it’s not the kind of trip we usually take.
First off, I’m not a big fan of "flight and cruise" packages. I asked if we could leave two days early, but they said it wasn’t possible. We had to take the flight, then the bus, and board the ship directly.
It’s not really my thing, but given the price we paid and since we really wanted to relax, we thought, *Why not?*
Here’s the itinerary:
Boarding in Pointe-à-Pitre
Saint-Martin
Five days at sea
The Azores
Four days at sea
Hamburg
One day at sea
Le Havre
But as I mentioned, it wasn’t about the itinerary. It was really about taking a break and unwinding. Honestly, I came back thrilled.
We’re stopping over in Rovinj this coming May, and since we’ve already visited the main sights (port, church, etc.), is there a walk we can do on our own—no boat needed—that would fill a morning?

A few months ago, CFC put the EN VOGUE experience on sale, departing from Dunkirk.
I booked this package to test the boat and onboard services for myself.
I’d read a lot of reviews mentioning numerous issues on board, so I wanted to see for myself what it was really like…
Okay, I’ll stop rambling…
The package included boarding at 6 PM on Friday, dinner, a show, an overnight stay, and breakfast.
We chose an interior cabin for this experience—since the boat wasn’t leaving the dock, we didn’t see the point in paying more… All in all, it cost 130 € per person.
My mom joined us; she got the same cabin for 130 € with no single occupancy supplement.
We’d checked in online to board faster.
We took the train to DUNKIRK, then a taxi to the shuttle pavilion—7 € for the ride.
When we arrived at the pavilion, we were told to wait because there was a connection issue with check-in. Great start…
After about ten minutes, we were finally allowed to proceed.
At the counter, they said they didn’t have our cabin cards and no record of our check-in… Very odd.
With no solution, they put us on the bus and said we’d sort it out at reception. Perfect.
We went through security, and they confiscated our water bottles—never seen that before! Then they said my mom had a corkscrew in her bag, so they searched it… but there was no corkscrew. Total amateur hour… They eventually dropped it.
We got on the bus for a ten-minute ride…
We boarded the ship with a crew member and headed to reception.
Turns out, we weren’t the only ones in this situation.
The nightmare began… Only two staff members were handling all the issues, and everything seemed complicated.
They told my mom her cabin had been given to someone else 😲.
That was the last straw…
It took forever—they had to redo the entire check-in.
Finally, they told my mom her cabin was good to go; they’d mixed her up with someone else… After a solid half-hour, we could finally head to our cabin.
I’m determined to test everything: the pool, jacuzzi, show, restaurant, spa, etc…
