I frequently travel to Mauritania by car. I’m offering to take you along on my next trip. I provide the car as well as cover road expenses (fuel, tolls, ferry), plus accommodation in Mauritania. You’ll be responsible for a few meals on the road, the Mauritanian visa, and your return flight (from 300 to 500 € depending on the season).

Hey Guy, I’m 40 km north of Le Puy-en-Velay and I’m interested in your offer—but it’d be best to discuss it in person! No specific date mentioned yet. FYI, I’m 55 and a half, and I’ve already crossed the region twice to get to Mali and Senegal. What’s the deal exactly? Driving a car all the way to Mauritania? Here’s my number: 06 86 22 42 16, Richard

Hi Guy, This project is really tempting. After several trips to Senegal (solo), I was planning to go back this winter and was actually looking at flight tickets just yesterday😉. So flying back isn’t an issue for me. I’ve also traveled to Morocco several times, but I don’t know Mauritania. Traveling there with someone who knows the country well would be a great way to explore. I’ll follow up with a PM for a few questions and to give you my phone number for easier communication. See you soon

Hi there! I’ve been making the trip to Mauritania for over 25 years on a personal basis, and I spent 4 to 5 months each year in Mauritania between 2006 and 2019 as a tourism escort. In Mauritania, we’ll be staying with a Mauritanian family in Nouakchott, long-time friends of mine. To get you to Senegal from Nouakchott, I’ll drive you by car with my Mauritanian friend, all the way to the border, and my friend will handle your exit formalities from Mauritania. Guy

Hello Guy, If your trip isn’t finalized yet, and if leaving in January won’t be an issue for you, then count me in. I travel simply but with a minimum of comfort—I love meeting locals, visiting offbeat places, and I’m not afraid of walking, even if I haven’t done the Camino de Santiago like you must have. On the other hand, no problem (which is normal) contributing to the fuel costs. Looking forward to hearing from you. Chantal

Hi Chantal, The departure is planned for November 20, 2025.

Oh well, yeah, I'm late to the party. Anyway, enjoy yourselves. I'm gonna change my destination.

We're leaving soon, but there's still room for you

Thanks Guy, but it’s really too tight for planning. You’d have to be on the site every day to not miss anything, and on top of that, people often post ads but don’t respond to comments. Nothing is really followed up on. Anyway, if you’re a traveler and explorer of new lands, we’ll catch up on the site. Have a great trip and enjoy!

Hello from the Pyrenees! I just came across your post a bit late, and of course your trip is already planned, but if there’s another opportunity later on, I’d definitely be up for it! A few years ago, I did Mauritania solo as a backpacker, and I loved it!!!! Safe travels and happy trails!

Good evening from Auvergne! If you can get ready quickly, we’re leaving from Auvergne on Thursday, November 20th. There are 4 cars in our group, all people around your age, and we each have one person per car. So if you can be ready soon, we’ll definitely find a spot for you in one of the cars. You’d need to make your way between Perpignan and La Jonquera, and you can hop into a car there. Guy
