Hi, I’d like to travel from Terengganu to Cameron Highlands in July. Could you tell me if there’s a direct connection by minivan, bus, or anything else? There are 5 of us: 2 adults and 3 kids (7, 12, and 14 years old).

The only direct bus leaves from Kuala Besut (it’s not really from Kuala Terengganu but in the Terengganu region) to Cameron Highlands with NKS Travel. But be careful—I don’t know this company, but it’s pretty poorly rated with frequent delays... With 3 kids, it might not be the best option unless they’re up for a Malaysian adventure!

Here’s the transporter’s email address: tamannegaranks@hotmail.com

Thanks for the reply! Is this email address for the direct bus or for a private carrier? Do you have any idea how much a private transfer costs, and if you have a recommended company or someone to suggest? I’ve heard about the graphic app—do you think it’s doable? Sorry for all these questions!

I have no idea about the price of private transport in Malaysia, and I don’t know this app either.

The email address is for the direct bus. However, I find this plan a bit risky, especially with kids.

I think the best option in your situation is to go from Kuala Terengganu to Ipoh.

Ipoh is much bigger and has simpler public transport. Then, take a taxi or private transport to Cameron Highlands, which is still quite isolated. It’s about 100 km. If you still have the energy, there’s a bus from Ipoh to Cameron Highlands that takes 2h30 with the Unititi company. Apparently, if you take the premium option, the trip only takes 1h15... I highly doubt it

There are two bus companies that go to Ipoh from Kuala Terengganu as overnight buses: Nini Express – I don’t know it, but it seems okay Kesatuan Express – Very poorly rated on specialized sites

There’s also a daytime bus, but I can’t find more info with the S.P Bumi company.

Since I booked this route recently, the price is around 200 ringgit per person for Perhentian–Cameron Highlands.

Bus from Kuala Besut to Kuala Tahan (Taman Negara), then bus and pirogue to get from Kuala Tahan to Cameron Highlands. Around 120 and 130 ringgit.

Thanks so much for all this info!
