Je pars en Thaïlande au mois de novembre comme bénévole dans un centre de protection de la faune sauvage. Certaines vaccinations sont obligatoires d'autres, comme la rage, simplement conseillée. Je vois mon médecin lundi mais j'aurais aimé avoir votre avis sur l'utilité de cette vaccination.
J'ai lu (sur internet) que même si on est vacciné et qu'on se fait mordre par un animal enragé ou suspecté, on doit quand même faire tout un protocole assez lourd de vaccination derrière. Est-ce que ça vaut vraiment le coup de se faire vacciner alors ? Je ne pars que 3 semaines (je sais bien que ça suffit pour se faire mordre ...).
J'ai déjà eu un traitement contre la rage en 2001 en curatif suite à morsure d'un animal suspçonné de rage (au final, l'animal était sain). A l'époque je n'ai pas fait le rappel un an après. Pensez-vous que je puisse encore avoir des anti-corps contre la rage 6 ans après ?

3 points confirmés ce jour par l'institut Pasteur par téléphone :
le vaccin antirabique préventif ne dispensera pas d'un traitement en cas de contamination au virus de la rage. donc dans tous les cas il faudra trouver un hopital en cas de morsures.
le vaccin antirabique préventif, est très fortement conseillé :
1) comme il active les défenses, si l'on reste plusieurs jours après la contamination sans trouver un hopital pouvant administrer le vaccin curatif (c est a dire celui qui "réveille" les défenses) on est déjà un peu protégé.
2) pour le cas ou on n'a pas fait le traitement préventif, en cas de morsures profondes, de plaies importantes, le traitement nécessite l'administration d'un sérum "immunoglobu..machinchose" que l'on n'est pas certain de trouver dans tous les hopitaux. Si l'on a fait le vaccin préventif on n'a pas besoin du sérum "immunoglo...truc".
le vaccin préventif (en trois prise) peut être fait par le médecin traitant!!!!!! seul le curatif est a faire en centre de vaccination spécialisé.
ALORS APRES LA DERNIERE NUIT PASSEE A ME RETOURNER DANS MON LIT JE DECIDE D'EN PAYER LE PRIX ET DE FAIRE LE TRAITEMENT PREVENTIF, POUR QUE MON VOYAGE DE REVE RESTE UN VOYAGE DE REVE, et pas un voyage passé à surveiller les chiens et les singes et à en avoir peur.
Autre détail je suis à j-15 (donc trop tard pour la dernière prise préventive) de mon départ et mon interlocutrice a confirmé mon idée de faire les 2 1ères prises avant le départ et la troisième à Bangkok!
Je vous laisse je vais voir mon médecin traitant.
PS : ce qui est dommage c'est que le discours des médecins n'est pas concordant d'un médecin à l'autre. lundi mon médecin m'a dit qu'il ne pouvait pas me faire le vaccin préventif! hier au centre de vaccination de la Réunion où j'avais rdv l'on ne m'a pas vacciné :"séjour 6 semaines trop court, vous trouverez des hopitaux partout en cas de morsures de toute façon!"
Vraiment notre vie, nous sommes les seuls en pouvoir en prendre vraiment soin!
Au final je n'ai pas eu besoin de refaire mon vaccin antirabique car j'avais encore assez d'anticorps contre la maladie. Ca m'a évité de refaire 3 injections avant mon départ. J'ai eu suffisamment de vaccins à faire comme ça.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...

The suspected origin is contamination in Namibia by jackals.
The contagion seems to be spreading.

It’s the bite that transmits the disease.
There are so-called "furious" forms with aggression, but also forms without aggression.
