Je voulais vous faire part de mon experience car je vois que beaucoup de personnes s'interrogent sur le fait de voyager avec leurs animaux. Et, si beaucoup décourage de les emmener avec vous, je pense au contraire que c'est une experience formidable il faut juste un peu d'organisation.
Pour ma part, j'ai trouvé ma chienne au Chili et j'ai voyagé en Amérique du Sud avec elle, depuis je suis rentrée en France mais repartie (toujours avec elle aux Etats Unis et en Amérique Centrale).
Pour ce qui concerne l'avion, il faut bien sur tous les vaccins, la puce électronique, bien se renseigner dans les ambassades (en général les pays demandent uniquement les papiers à jour et un certificat international mais par exemple pour l'entrée au Belize il fallait faire une demande 3 jours avant d'arriver ). Ma chienne à pris au total 5 fois l'avion et si, les premières fois je lui donnait des somnifères, à l'heure actuelle je ne lui donne rien et vraiment quand je l'a retrouve à l'arrivée elle n'a jamais l'air plus traumatisée que cela.
Il faut aussi bien se renseigner de là ou l'on repart pour la France car si pour venir il ne faut pas beaucoup de papiers, le retour en France est different. La France à certains accords avec des pays (à propos de la rage) et là aucun soucis mais pour certains (exemple Colombie) la France exige un tirage sérique des anticorps antirabiques fait au minimum 3 mois à l'avance. Là soit vous le fait (il est valable toute la vie du chien) soit il faut changer le pays de la ou l'on repart!
Ah oui aussi, il n'y a aucune quarantaine mis à part les îles (Australie, Nouvelle Zelande etc...)
C'est vrai qu'ensuite se pose le problème de la cage de transports, pour ma part j'ai eu la chance de connaitre presque à chaque fois des personnes sur place qui pouvait la garder, mais ce que j'avais fait une fois, j'avais attendu de trouver une auberge de jeunesse où les patrons avaient l'air cool et j'avais juste demandé si ils pouvaient garder la cage.
Après il y a les transports, dans les pays ou il y a des "chicken bus" je ne me suis presque jamais fait interdire l'entrée par contre au Mexique, Chili, Argentine, Brésil les chiens sont strictement interdit dans les bus, aucun moyen de négocier; la solution qu'ils proposent c'est de mettre l'animal dans la soute mais une dame qui travaillait pour la compagnie m'avait expliqué que c'était extrêmement dangereux car ce n'est pas adapté (pas d'air, il fait très chaud ou froid tout dépend de là ou on est) et bien sur la compagnie n'est en aucun cas responsable de l'animal...
Du coup pas le choix il faut faire du stop, c'est sur qu'il ne faut pas être pressé pressé mais ça marche !! Même si ma chienne fait 15kg (taille moyenne) j'avais rencontré une Espagnole qui faisait la même en Amérique du Sud avec un chien type berger allemand!
Pareil pour les hébergements, bien sur il y a le camping sauvage et là aucun soucis mais sinon il suffit de demander, alors bien sur certains refuseront mais je ne me suis jamais retrouvée à dormir dehors, on trouve toujours un hôtel qui fini par dire oui!
Bref, bien sur il y a des contraintes mais voyager avec son chien n'est pas du tout mission impossible c'est voyager différemment et d'ailleurs le stop n'est absolument pas dangereux et c'est même la bonne occasion de rencontrer des gens géniaux.

Faire du stop demande du temps, ne pas pouvoir choisir son hôtel demande de l'argent car l'hôtel qui dira "oui" ne sera pas forcément "petit budget"

je voyage avec un un Traffic Renault aménagé camping depuis un an (USA et maintenant Mexique) j'ai avec moi, ma petite chienne pucée et vaccinée rage compris, je n'ai jamais eu de problème, je veux continuer vers le Brésil et envisage de repartir de Buenos aires, ce que je lis sur les complications pour le retour en france avec la chienne m'inquiète.
faut-il envisager le retour par un autre pays et si oui, lequel? Mexique? USA?

Non pas de supplément pour les hôtels en général c'est assez clair quand ils disent oui c'est gratuit quand ils disent non, tu vas voir le prochain et ainsi de suite! Je le répète je ne me suis jamais retrouvée une nuit à dormir à la belle étoile car les hôtels me refusaient et je suis toujours restée dans des hôtels à petit budget!
Les chiens errants ne sont pas du tout emmerdant, tout dépend comment est ton chien avec les autres mais pour ma part ils étaient devenus les copains de ma chienne, après il y a des cons partout il parait mais ça c'est comme partout. La seule chose c'est qu'il faut faire stériliser ses chiens si l'on ne veut pas se retrouver à 12 à la fin du voyage...
La France demande un titrage sérique pour seulement quelques pays (la liste est sur le site de la douane française) il me semble que c'est seulement la Colombie en Amérique du Sud sinon à part avoir ses papiers à jour ils ne demandent rien du tout!

Alors pour en rajouter une petite couche, moi j'ai voyagé dans le monde entier avec mes chiens et... mes deux enfants et maintenant qu'ils sont grands et indépendants, je voyage avec ma chienne et... mes deux enfants qui me rejoignent quand ils le peuvent.
Dans tous les cas, ce qu'il est doux d'avoir cette petite boule de poils avec moi quand le voyage est périlleux! Et l'amour est la seule chose qui s'augmente au fur et à mesure qu'on en donne.
SI vous avez besoin d'infos pour emmener votre chien sur l'Asie, l'Amérique du sud et du nord, l'Europe... n'hésitez pas.

Pas encore fait la Patagonie... Dans un futur proche c'est prévu.
Maintenant je choisis ma destination en regardant les possibilités d'emporter mon objet transitionnel. Par exemple exit l'Inde (alors que j'y ai habité avec elle en 2009) mais bonjour Katmandu ou Colombo!
Première information valable pour tous les voyages : votre boule de poils pèse combien? Au-dessus de 6 kg il est plus dur de voyager avec elle car voyage obligatoire en soute et c'est là que les premiers problèmes réels peuvent se poser à cause de la Law Temperature. En dessous de 45 F ou dessus de 85 F / 75 F pour les chiens au nez aplati (snub-nosed dogs) il vous faut une lettre d'un vétérinaire certifiant que votre chien peut supporter des températures extrêmes. Mais si la température descend en dessous de 20 F ou monte au dessus de 95 aucune compagnie n'acceptera votre chien. Une info de plus bonne à savoir : certaines compagnies aériennes n'acceptent jamais les snub-nosed dogs pendant tous les mois d'été.
Donc, avant tout, la première chose à faire si vous voyagez avec un gros chien, c'est de savoir quelle température il risque de faire sur le tarmac sinon vous risquez de ne pas pouvoir prendre l'avion. Ticket payé ou pas.
Et seulement, seulement après, regarder quelles conditions d'entrée dans les pays.

Ne faisons pas l'économie d'une évidence: tu pars de quel(s) pays exactement? Car d'un pays sur l'autre ça change. Exemple : Nepal/Inde/Sri Lanka = trois pays aux règles totalement différentes!

J'ai 2 chiens c'est donc un sujet qui m’intéresse, et je peux déjà vous dire que :
1- je déconseille fortement de prendre l'avion depuis ou vers l'Argentine si on tient a son animal, en effet il y a de nombreux cas de chiens "perdu" ou volé dans les aéroports argentins.... Parfosi retrouvé mort dans un coin de hangar, parfois jamais retrouvé ...
2- le trafic d'animaux en Argentine mais aussi dans une grande partie du continent est monnaie courante ... pour les peaux, pour la vente aux laboratoires etc ...
3- En Argentine et au Chili, tres peu d'hebergement acceptent les animaux. Certains pourront accepter des petits chiens, genre caniches and Co mais ce n'est pas courant.
Franchement si vous tenez à vos animaux, laissez les chez vous, plutôt que des les exposer à des risques inutiles ...
Je viens vers vous car j'ai besoin de beaucoup de renseignements concernant le voyage en Amérique du Nord et du sud avec un chien.
Nous partons, ma compagne et moi, pour le canada, pour un periple de 2 ans qui dois nous conduire jusqu'à buenos aires. Nous sommes autonome car nous avons un camping car. Le départ est le 27 avril....sauf que viens de se greffer un coup de coeur..nous avons acheté une petite chienne qui a maintenant 5 mois, type berger des pyrénées.
Ce qui me fait un peu peur c'est : va t elle supporter le climat chaud et humide de l'amérique central, ou l'altitude des hautes plateaux de bolivie ??
Comment cela va se passer avec les chiens errants ?
Va t elle supporter l'avion ?
Doit on la faire stériliser ???
Nous ne voulons pas que ce voyage soit une galère pour elle...
Pouvez vous nous donner quelques conseils ???

J'ai déjà donné mon sentiment quant à voyager en Amérique du Sud avec son chien ; en Argentine beaucoup d'histoires de chiens perdu. volé ou oublié dans les aéroports ... Les chiens errants qui sont nombreux en Argentine et au Chili sont bien sûr porteurs de maladies et parasites, il faut donc avoir le carnet de vaccination à jour et surveiller de prêt son animal.
De plus toujours avoir un téléphone de vétérinaire dans chaque pays en cas d'urgence, je peux vous donner les coordonnées de mon ancien veto sur Buenos Aires et de mon nouveau sur Viña/Valparaiso, ça sera toujours ça.
Bref, laissez votre chienne dans votre famille et voyagez seuls... ça sera plus simple pour elle et pour vous ; c'est mon avis ...

Je souhaiterais ramener en France depuis le Guatemala une petite chienne (autour de 20 kg) que je vais adopter, m'assurer de son titrage et tous ce qui est exigé du point de vue sanitaire. Mais j'ai un problème. Iberia prends le chien en (soute) mais le vol n'est pas direct. C'est via Panama (quarantaine, beaucoup de démarches...).
Qui pourrait m'aider à contourner ce problème en me conseillant une escale de transit dans un pays moins exigeant ?

J'aimerais aller au Brésil rejoindre une amie dans l'état de Bahia avec ma chienne (HuskhyXmalinois, 25kg,13 ans "biologique" mais 8 ans de forme physique ;-) je ne sais s'il y aura un retour c'est pourquoi je préfère l'emmener.
Je m'inquiete bcp à l'idée de lui faire prendre l'avion. Je ne sais pas comment reserver un billet par les sites go voyage ou partir pas cher.com .... comment trouver des cages de transport , puis comment ca se passe pour les escales etc...

Pas de quarantaine.
Nécessité de faire valider le certificat de vaccination antirabique et le certificat sanitaire international par la Direction départementale des Services vétérinaires, et de les faire légaliser par le ministère des Affaires étrangères ou par une cour d’Appel.
Pensez au produit anti puces et anti heartworms. N'oubliez surtout pas sur le certificat de bonne santé de faire mettre que votre animal est exempt de parisites externes et internes.
Pour l'avion, oubliez les low cost. Dans les grandes compagnies, vérifiez la rubrique chien. Ils vous diront exactement la taille de la cage qu'il faudra avoir pour la soute.

I’m a teacher in Creuse, working in a ULIS program (which welcomes children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities into a mainstream school). This year, I’m starting a school journal project that will involve the kids in many different topics. A big part of the journal will focus on opening up to the world, diversity, travel, countries, culture...
I’m launching a call to invite as many of you as possible to send us a little postcard (from France or anywhere in the world!) to take us on a journey and help us discover new places, countries, and horizons—much more fun and exciting than a regular geography textbook! One section of our journal could be called "We received mail from " and would be an opportunity to research that location and share what we learn with our readers (a super enriching activity in class).
The project starts in September 2025 but has no real end date, as this journal and world discovery initiative will span several school years (the kids stay in my ULIS program for multiple years). Postcards can be sent anytime—throughout the year, across seasons, even during holidays! (The kids will find them when they return.)
I hope this idea appeals to as many of you as possible and that you’ll spread the word to your fellow traveler friends. Make us dream, take us on a journey!!!

I just discovered a great show on Arte.
It's called "7 en route": seven young European journalists travel around Europe in a fully converted bus, making reports on every city they visit. It's amazing! 🙂
Yesterday, for example, they were in Rome, Italy, and the reports included things like the world's smallest restaurant—a super romantic spot for two. There was also a report on the king of paparazzi in Italy.
They have to pick topics that let us discover the little quirks of each country. And at the end of each episode, we get to see the finished report.
It's such a great show, mixing journalism, travel, and discovery—basically, a must-watch!

I left my heart’s country eight days ago and returned to my adopted one—or was it the other way around? Scotland-Morvan, Morvan-Scotland, I’m not quite sure anymore.
After a quarter without dragging my slippers around here, even though I’d loudly declared I had no interest left in this site, here I am again!
My imagination never stays fallow for long. Just enough time for my inner land to rest. It gets overgrown with fresh nettles, the kind you can pick without getting stung. Then, it’s time to till the fragrant earth and let the story grow.
I hesitated over where to set this story.
Maybe the Highlands, maybe the Hebrides, maybe the Orkney Islands, maybe the Shetland Islands. All of Scotland is myth—easy to embroider.
But in the end, no. I’d almost be too afraid to bare my soul.
The story will take place at home. Simple, practical.

This morning, I was up well before dawn, feeling a bit grumpy, but nothing a bowl of coffee won’t fix. I love my bowl, and no one dares take it. It’s porcelain, edged with intertwined blue flowers. On the bottom, it says "Revol." The factory has existed long before the Revolution. It was my great-grandmother’s bowl. She drank roasted barley from it during the war, then her Leroux chicory.
Last year, a little guy dropped it. My bowl broke into three pieces. A black anger vibrated deep inside me. The little boy was so upset, on the verge of tears. How could I scold him!
I picked up the three pieces and took Little Boy in my arms. His hair smelled of the light, sweet sweat of toddlers. A gentle hug that healed—his budding sorrow and my anger—everything vanished, and time carried on.
Today, my bowl is even prettier. Man fixed it using the traditional kintsugi technique, except he didn’t use gold powder or lacquer but superglue, and he delicately painted the cracks with woad blue. And my bowl is even more beautiful now.
I’m lingering, I can tell—it’s just that a story wraps itself in life, and life can’t be told in the snap of a finger. Life is long. Like in architecture, you start with a rough sketch, called a "sous-cul" (the initial pencil drawing), then you make a tracing, which is the work itself, the one you later carefully roll up in a wooden tube.
Life is like that: you erase, you start over, you use the nub of the pencil until it’s tiny, but you keep going—dreaming, loving.

On this forum, we talk a lot about trekking in the Himalayas, but I’d love to share another side of Nepal: its spiritual, cultural, and religious atmosphere, especially in Kathmandu.
Nepal, much like Tibet and Bhutan, is deeply connected to the Himalayas—the ultimate sacred mountain range. This small country exudes a calming vibe, shaped by a strong spiritual dimension. What I loved most was the unique sensory experience you get there. Walking around temples and tantric monasteries, a distinct scent fills the air—aromatic plants used for ritual fumigation. Locals mainly burn Himalayan juniper, cedar, sandalwood, and other local essences. This fragrant smoke is a way to purify the space and reach the deities, and you’re constantly enveloped in these aromas.
Another striking aspect is the sound. As soon as you step outside, you hear bells ringing in front of temples. People ring them three times before praying to announce their presence to the deities. Nepal is also the birthplace of singing bowls and sound meditation practices. In Kathmandu, you can easily find meditation sessions or "sound baths."
The spiritual dimension is everywhere: a Hindu sadhu practicing asceticism, a lama in deep red robes with his mala, turning a prayer wheel while murmuring "Om mani padme hum." Newar Buddhism, Tantrism, and Hinduism coexist harmoniously in daily life.

I just installed the Maps.Me app on my phone. I only recently found out about this app. I’m traveling in 2 weeks and a few days, and I’m a bit stuck on how to use it.

I just couldn’t bring myself to actively participate in other French-language travel forums—their format and way of doing things never appealed to me as much. I really hope that VF’s structure, categories, and interface won’t change too much despite the handover, because I’m very attached to them. Through thick and thin, the site has held strong—it’s amazing!

I’m planning a 3-week trip to Japan in May with Voyage Privé. The package includes a 5 GB eSIM, but my phone isn’t new enough to support it. VP told me I could buy a SIM card when I arrive at the airport.
Sure enough, I’ve seen online that this is possible with different providers.
I only need it for checking routes, looking up addresses, train schedules, etc.—basically using Google Maps, TripAdvisor, and similar apps. No heavy downloads or major internet use. All hotels should provide free Wi-Fi for that, right?
Has anyone got any tips for me on this? What have you tried, and how much did it cost?

I wanted to share a really unpleasant experience from our last trip booked with Promoséjours and organized by FTI.
We booked an 8-day/7-night stay in Egypt, from June 8 to 15.
The flight initially scheduled was changed a week before departure to take off at 10 PM from Paris CDG.
In the end, it took off with a 1-hour delay and included an unmentioned stopover in Marsa Alam.
We landed in Hurghada at 4 AM and arrived at the hotel at 6 AM.
So, we spent our first night on the plane.
For the return trip, surprise—the flight was moved up. We left the hotel at 10:30 PM on Friday the 14th to take off at 2 AM and land at 7 AM at Paris CDG.
So, we spent our last night on the plane too.
After sending a complaint letter to Promoséjours / FTI, they replied that the first and last days can be dedicated to transport (which I already knew) and that no matter how many nights you book, you’re not guaranteed to spend them in the hotel—it could just as well be on the plane.
I’m really questioning this.
Isn’t there a law that protects customers in cases like this?
Because when I do the math, the first and part of the second day were spent on transport, same for the second-to-last and last day. And I paid for 7 nights for a stay that only lasted 5.
Anyway, I just want to say thanks to them—thanks to their two sleepless nights in transit, I’m coming back even more exhausted from a trip that was supposed to be restful!
I also want to warn anyone booking through this agency about visas for Egypt.
At booking, they told me the visa was included in the price, then they sent me an email saying I’d have to pay for it on-site at 25 €.
Once there, we were directed to a special line for FTI customers, and guess what? They charged us 30 €!
Basically, they’re great at making sure you *enjoy* your vacation—mostly by enjoying your wallet!
If anyone has dealt with this kind of situation and won their case, I’m all ears.

So I thought I’d get a Thai SIM card to use Google Maps for getting around cities, mostly.
Here’s my question: will this SIM affect my apps? Or will they work the same as with my Orange SIM?
Is there any setup I need to do, or can I just pop in the Thai SIM?
I’d also like to switch back to my Orange SIM now and then while I’m in Thailand—on the same phone. Will I need to reset the phone, or will it reconnect without any issues?

I’m reaching out to all travelers and globe-trotters on this forum. I’m a teacher in Creuse working in a ULIS program (which welcomes children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities into a mainstream school). This year, I’m launching a school journal project that will involve the kids in many different topics. A big part of this journal will focus on opening up to the world, embracing differences, travel, global cultures, and more.
I’m putting out a call to invite as many of you as possible to send us a postcard (from France or anywhere in the world)! The goal is to help us "travel" and discover new places, countries, and horizons in a way that’s much more fun and exciting than a geography textbook. One section of our journal could be called "We received a letter from ," where we’d research the location and share what we learn with our readers—a really enriching activity for the classroom.
The project starts in September 2025 but doesn’t have a strict end date, since this journal and world-discovery initiative will span several school years (the kids stay in the ULIS program for multiple years). Postcards can be sent anytime—throughout the year, across seasons, even during holidays! The kids will find them when they return.
I hope this idea appeals to as many of you as possible, and that you’ll spread the word to your fellow travelers. Help us dream and explore!

Hello. We’re a retired couple heading to Sri Lanka from January to March. It appears to be Somali pirates who have widened their search in the Mozambique Channel, far from their usual attack zone, since, to my knowledge, there are no Malagasy pirates.

Where’s Cape Vidal?
It’s in iSimangaliso, an independent park in KZN Wildlife, stunning and just a stone’s throw from St Lucia (KwaZulu-Natal, Maputaland).
It’s the beach spot at the end of the Eastern Shores road. You can swim, fish... but watch out for waves, currents, and sharks...
There’s a really nice game drive where you can get out of your car at certain points, especially at Cape Vidal.
That’s where the camp with bungalows and campsites is.
The vervets and samango monkeys (endemic to the area, and the males are pretty big) can be a bit of a nuisance if you’re trying to braai...
They’re super persistent and not shy at all—don’t let them intimidate you, and stay alert because their speed at snatching food is impressive.
Anyway...
I’m reporting two recent attacks by these hyenas... who were *not* in a playful mood...
The first one happened at night—a hyena tried to bite a camper’s nose off in their tent... and succeeded.
The other night, a camper returning to their tent in the early hours was violently attacked by two hyenas... and they had a close call!
So, if you’re camping there, be careful...
Measures are being taken, but for now, it’s a bit risky.
