J'envisage de faire mon premier voyage en solo et j'ai choisi le Cambodge et le Laos. Je pensais faire également le Vietnam mais je me suis vite aperçu que vouloir faire les 3 sans trop courir est un peu prétentieux.

Mon projet d'itinéraire au cambodge: Phnom Penh, Kep/Kampot, Battabang, Siam Reap Au Laos je voudrais le remonter du Sud au Nord : 4000 iles, Pakse et le plateau des Bolavens, Rivière souterraine de Kong Lor, Ventiane, Vang Vieng, Lulang Prabang, Nong Kiaw ou Muang Noi ou Phongsaly. Retour en France au départ de Lulang Prabang Je voudrais rejoindre le sud du Laos par la route via Kratie et Stung Treng

Possible tout ça en 1 mois ? Je voudrais aussi prendre mon temps et savourer chaque endroit.

Hi everyone, I’m starting to plan my next trip to Southeast Asia this winter (2.5 months, leaving in early December), and here’s a rough outline of my route—I’d love to share it with you and hear your thoughts and tips.

- I’ll start in Bangkok and already have three spots I’ve marked: Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Uthai Thani (I haven’t been to any of these places yet). - Next, I’d like to cross the country from west to east to reach the Laos border. I’d love suggestions for any interesting stops along this route—I don’t know this part of Thailand at all... - Then I’ll head into Laos, probably at Savannakhet (you can usually get a visa at the border). - > I’m tempted to spend a week in Hoi An, Vietnam, since I loved that city and the area when I visited two years ago. No visa needed for Vietnam now, so it could be a nice little detour. On the map, it doesn’t look too far, but I know you’ve got to be careful with these things, and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea. Any opinions on this? - Back to Laos (maybe via Dakta), and I’ll head south along the Mekong, probably doing the Bolaven Plateau loop that I missed last time. Then Paksé, the 4,000 Islands... I’ve been before, but I’d happily go back. - Crossing into Cambodia, I’ll follow the Mekong down to Phnom Penh (I know this area and love how untouristy it is). From there, I’ll probably spend a few days in Kep (quieter than Kampot). Still undecided, though. - Then back to Thailand (BKK), likely by plane from Phnom Penh since the borders between the two countries are currently closed (plus, let’s be honest, Cambodian roads... ;-). We’ll see how things look when the time comes. - After that, I’d like to explore southern Thailand, taking it slow with short hops. I’ve got my eye on Khao Sok National Park, and I’ve heard good things about Krabi... Again, I don’t know this region well, so any info or tips would be great.

So, I think this should be doable in 2.5 months, especially since I prefer short hops of 300 km max to avoid getting too tired, and I like staying 2-3 days in each place to explore. Plus, I’ll take a week off to relax if I find a spot I love—maybe by the sea for some real downtime.

C'est surtout au niveau de la sécheresse, on m'a dit qu'elle serait très prononcée à cette période et plus au Laos.

CIRCUIT AU CAMBODGE du 2 au 22 FEVRIER 2020

Nous sommes arrivés au CAMBODGE en bus , le 2 février , depuis la Thaïlande, BANGKOK/SIEM REAP - 9h30/17h30. Passage aux 2 postes frontières terrestres, en Thaïlande pour sortir du territoire et au Cambodge pour y entrer. du 3 au 5 février : visites d'Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Ta Phrom, Bantey Samne et Bantey Srei, grandioses. 3 nuits au Visoth hôtel à Siem Reap, très bon hôtel, calme et bien situé. le 6 février : bus de SIEM REAP à BATTAMBANG 8h/11h45. 3 nuits au O'Hamok Lodge, chez Ane-Lise et Sarom, famille franco-kmer très sympathique, qui nous a donné de multiples informations sur le Cambodge et son histoire, pour que nous puissions mieux appréhender ce pays et ses habitants. les 7 au 8 février : Bat caves, à 30 minutes en scooter depuis Battambang. Spectacle magique de voir ces millions de chauves-souris vous passer au-dessus de la tête au coucher du soleil. Banan Temple, temple pré-angkorien du XIème siècle, situé tout en haut d'une colline (350 marches environ à gravir) offrant un très joli panorama sur la vallée. Puis, balade en scooter, le nez au vent, dans la campagne. Le soir, spectacle de PHARE CIRCUS, troupe formée de jeunes des quartiers défavorisés de Battambang, pour leur apprendre les arts du cirque, le théatre, mais pas que, l'éducation et l'instruction en font aussi partie. Ils font un travail remarquable que je vous invite vivement à aller voir. le 9 février : bus de BATTAMBANG à KAMPONG CHHNANG 9h/13h. 2 nuits au Garden Guest House, à 5 minutes de la ville, au calme et très bien. le 10 février : balade de 2h, en barque à rames dans les villages flottants près de Battambang, balade dans la campagne en kangbei (tuk tuk Cambodgien) et visite de potiers anciens et nouveaux avec petit cours de poterie improvisé très chouette. le 11 février : minivan de KAMPONG CHHNANG à PHNOM PENH 15h30/18h. 3 nuits à l'hôtel Laluna. Très bon hôtel, mais un peu loin du centre ville (4kms) et du coup, peu de restos dans le coin. le 12 février : A Phnom Pehn, visite poignante (le mot est faible) de la prison, de Tuol Sleng, appelée Musée du Génocide ou S 21 (Epoque funeste de Pol Pot et des Kmers Rouges). Balade sur la Riverside, le grand marché, histoire de s'alléger un peu le coeur et l'esprit. le 13 février : Après avoir été torturés à la prison de Tuol Seng (S21), les prisonniers étaient emmenés à 15km de Phnom Penh, à Choeung Ek, pour y être exécutés. Nous sommes donc allés leur rendre hommage, sur le lieu baptisé " Killings Fields " . le 14 février : Minivan de PHNOM PENH à KAMPONG CHAM 9h30/12h. 3 nuits à l'hôtel 3 étoiles Lbn Asia, très luxueux, mais pas très cher (22€ avec PDJ). L'après-midi, petite balade à pied dans la bourgade. les 15 et 16 février : balade à vélo sur l'île Koh Pean, en traversant le fameux pont en bambou provisoire, qui est construit à la saison sèche pour passer de Kampong Cham à l'île Koh Pean et démonté à la saison des pluies. Visite d'un très beau wat , du IXème siècle, de l'époque pré-angkorienne, à 3,5 km du centre, le Wat Nokor. le 17 février : Bus de KAMPONG CHAM à PHNOM PENH 9h30/13h. A l'arrivée, un tuk-tuk, envoyé par Roger de la Villa Koh Dach, nous attendait, pour rejoindre sa guest house, à 15 km de Phnom Penh. du 17 au 20 février : 3 nuits à la Villa Koh Dach, guest house familiale. Accueil très convivial de la part de Roger, bien connu sur les forums de voyage. Roger nous a raconté le Cambodge, qu'il connait très bien et nous avons beaucoup appris en l'écoutant. les 20 et 21 février : 2 nuits à la Red House B&B chez Stefan. Accueil également très chaleureux de la part de Stefan, qui nous a permis de partager des moments très sympathiques avec sa famille. Au total, nous avons passé 5 jours de détente sur cette petite île, pour faire des balades à pied , à vélo, nous baigner dans le Mékong, profiter du calme, de la gentillesse de ses habitants et terminer notre circuit, ressourcés, avant de poursuivre vers le Vietnam. le 22 février : bus de PHNOM PENH à HO CHI MINH (7 heures de trajet environ) Le Cambodge est très souvent associé à Angkor, mais en dehors de ce site fabuleux, il y a tout un peuple accueillant, authentique, qui avance et se reconstruit . Je vous invite à aller le rencontrer.

Nous allons passer 8 jours à 2 au Cambodge en mars 2020 Notre mini tour ci-dessous est il plausible et ou dormir à Kompong Chhnang Arrivée Phnom Pen + 2 jours de visite Bus Phnom Pen / Kompong Chhnang (via ligne bus PP / Battambang et arrêt à Kompong Chhnang) Visite de Kompong Chhnang et nuit sur place mais mis à part 2 ou 3 hotels booking je ne trouve pas grand chose comme hébergement (avez vous des idées ou conseils) Re départ en bus le lendemain matin pour Battambang (2 jours de visites) Bus Battambang / Siem Rep 2 jours Siem Rep et 3 jours Angkor Retour avion Bangkok

Ou alors, faut il faire Kompong chhnang direct aller et retour depuis Phnom Pen dans la journée et ensuite faire bus direct Phnom Pen Battambang ?

Voilà l'itinéraire approximatif. Sachant qu'on est désireux de varier ce que l'on va voir et faire, on aime beaucoup la nature les paysages les randos, on voudrait voir des animaux aussi, mais on aime également très bien manger haha donc les endroits avec une bonne gastronomie locale sont très importants.

Est ce que cet itinéraire semble cohérent ? Est ce que je manque des endroits inmanquables ? Est ce qu'il n'y a pas trop de ville sur la fin ? Dalat + Hoi an + hue + Hanoi, en + sachant qu'il ne fait pas très beau au nord en février ? Que modifieriez vous en somme ? Par exemple j'ai entendu de bonnes choses sur la région de mondolkiri au Cambodge niveau nature et paysages... Mais je suis ouvert à toute suggestion !

Afin d'être libre de nos mouvements et s'éviter les trajets en tuk-tuk de/vers Angkor (et bénéficier d'un peu de clim 😛), on imagine prendre un véhicule avec chauffeur durant nos 3 jours sur place.

Savez-vous combien ca pourrait nous coûter pour 3 jours ? J'imaginais demander un contact à mon hotel : bon plan ?

Bonjour à tous Nous allons faire une ballade d'environ 3 semaines au Cambodge, ( début février 2020 ) en faisant nos visas directement à l'aéroport de Siem Reap (c'est notre premier voyage au Cambodge) Notre vol Air asia (Bkk/Siem Reap) arrive à 21 h 10 et nous avons réservé les deux premières nuits dans un hôtel (le rose blanche boutique) qui se trouve à environ 20 km de l'aéroport Je suppose que avec le débarquement, les formalités du visa, etc... nous ne sortirons pas de l'aéroport avant 23 h et ma question est comment rejoindre notre hôtel , tuk tuk , taxi ...?, quel serait le juste prix en tuk tuk par exemple ? ou en taxi ? , l'heure sera tardive j'espère que l'hôtel sera ouvert pour nous recevoir Merci pour vos réponses

Nous serons au Cambodge en avril prochain. Nous voudrions aller de Phnom Penh à Battambang, en visitant sur le trajet le village flottant de Kompong Luong. Est-ce faisable dans la journée ? We got back enchanted from a 6-week trip to Cambodia! Our itinerary: Kampot - Kampong Chhnang - Battambang - Siem Reap - Kampong Cham - Sen Monorom (Mondulkiri) - Banlung (Ratanakiri) - Kratie - Kampong Thom - Phnom Penh. We traveled by bus, minivan, boat (between Battambang and Siem Reap), overnight bus, scooter, tuk-tuk, and rickshaw for shorter distances. We stayed in guesthouses, homestays, and even in the jungle during a trek. While the Angkor temples are fabulous, it’s the people you should visit Cambodia for—the "Land of Smiles" truly lives up to its nickname! Tourists gather in Angkor but are quite rare elsewhere, even though the country is easy to travel around. I won’t describe our trip in detail but instead highlight a few favorite moments. From Kampot, don’t hesitate to head out around 6 AM to see the fishermen return and their wives selling their catch (just 10 minutes away by the coast). Guaranteed picturesque! In Battambang, known for its food scene, we discovered a cooking class with Smokin’ Pot (authentic Khmer cooking class). They pick you up from your guesthouse to shop for ingredients (we made fish amok and beef lok lak) at their village market, then cook and eat together. A private class—just the two of us! They also send the recipes via WhatsApp as a PDF. +855 12 821 400 In Siem Reap, I can recommend a francophone tuk-tuk driver who was very attentive to our wishes. We visited tourist spots but also more remote villages and local grilled-pork restaurants with him. We did a 2-day, 1-night trek in Mondulkiri. Don’t expect a super dense jungle—it looks more like a forest similar to ours. But Nara, our Bunong ethnic guide, made the experience adventurous and ultimately very immersive! WhatsApp +855 86 630 489 Bee Bee’s Chalets homestay: If you pass through Banlung in Ratanakiri, we *loved* this family and their budget-friendly bungalows. In Kratie, rent a scooter and follow the Mekong north for 40 km at your own pace. Being so close to the locals was a treat! Same goes for heading south if you have time. Kampong Thom: Head 25 km out to visit the pre-Angkorian temples of Sambor Prei Kuk. Around a hundred monuments spread across three sites… and hardly anyone there!

A few practical tips: Though prices are often listed in dollars, you can always pay in riels (1 USD = 4000 riels), which is what we preferred. PassApp: An app to book tuk-tuks or rickshaws (and most importantly, know the price upfront). Virak Buntham: A bus company connecting several cities, bookable online.

Hi there, I need your thoughts on the rest of my itinerary. We’re spending two nights in Phnom Penh and five in Siem Reap. That leaves us with six days, and we’d like to do Kampot-Kep and Koh Rong Sanloem. Originally, I wanted to go to Battambang, but I’m worried it might be too much. Idea for a 15-day itinerary in Cambodia... - 3 nights in Phnom Penh, arriving at 6:30 PM. (2 days to explore the city). - 2 nights in Battambang - 4 or 5 nights in Siem Reap (2 days for Angkor, 1 day for Kulen, 1 day for Tonlé Sap Lake) - 2 nights in Kampot - 2 nights on Koh Rong. Alright, I’m scaling back the kilometers thanks to the relevance and patience of our Cambodia experts! Here’s yet another hesitation /\ When I arrive early on 01/12 in PP, I have the choice between spending a day in PP (booking a convenience room for half a day and leaving by night bus), sleeping in PP and taking the bus to SR the next morning, or hiring a driver to head back up to PP with a nice little stop and maybe sleeping in Kampong Thom or Kampong Chhnang, then heading to SP on the 13th. Then from the 13th to the 17th or 18th, exploring Angkor. I continue to Kampong Thom and stay for 2 nights (if I didn’t do it on the way there), but I might be templed-out by then. I head to Kampong Cham, where I’ll spend 2 nights—one on the island and one on the mainland. Next, I go to Kampot and Kep: probably 2 nights in Kampot, 2 in Kep, and 1 night on Tonsay Island. On 01/28, I return to PP until 01/29. One detail: how long does it take to get from downtown PP to the new airport? Because I leave on 01/29 around 7:50 PM... Anyway, I’m ready to read your unfiltered reactions 🤓 and thank you in advance for your help!

So, my flight tickets have just been booked for a trip to Cambodia from November 4th to 27th, 2025. I’ll be traveling solo and want to explore this amazing country while getting a bit off the beaten path. I’m arriving in Phnom Penh and also departing from Phnom Penh. Je pars avec des amis 12 jours au Cambodge au mois de janvier, et nous allons passer rapidement Phnom Penh, visiter Siem Reap (3j) et aller sur la cote pendant 4 jours. J'aimerais bien faire un petit tour dans une ville afin de voir un peu de campagne, pourquoi pas faire des petites randonnées, si possible dans des coins authentiques.

J'hésite entre aller 3 jours soit à Battambang ou soit à Kampong Cham. Quel coin me conseillez-vous ? Ce serait plutôt pour des visites de lieux culturels, voir de beaux paysages et trouver des villages avec des gens sympas.

Hi everyone! I’ve booked flights to Phnom Penh for August 26 (no layover in the Emirates as a precaution...). We arrive on Sunday, August 2 in the morning and leave on August 19 around 9 PM (also from Phnom Penh). We’re a couple traveling with three kids aged 9 to 16. Among the many questions I have about our itinerary, a few are standing out: If we arrive in Phnom Penh exhausted, I imagine we’ll need to stay one night there before heading to Siem Reap... but how much time should we spend there to enjoy Angkor in good conditions? Then, Mondulkiri or Battambang? (Because I don’t want it to be a total rush, changing accommodation every two days and praying that bus transfers or private drivers go as planned...). Where does Tonlé Sap Lake fit into all this? And if we end with a beach stay: is Koh Rong a must, or is there another spot? Also, what about the return logistics: should we spend the night before our flight in Phnom Penh to be safe... or do we do everything on August 19... like taking a boat and then the road from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh, risking missing our flight if anything goes wrong? Anyway, a huge thank you in advance for your valuable tips and feedback!

Hello, I’m starting to plan my adventure in Cambodia. I’ve read a lot of your posts and really appreciate all your articles. Now it’s my turn to share my plans with you: 12/01 arrival in PP 13/01 arrival in SR where I’ll meet up with 2 friends for 6 days exploring the temples and surrounding areas 19/01 I’ll leave and finish the trip solo. I fly back on 29/01 at 8 PM, so I’ve got 10 days for a little immersion. The dilemma is whether to: # head to Battambang, then make my way to PP, Kampot, and 2 nights by the sea # go to Kratie and head down to Kampot with 2 nights by the sea (or, to cut down on kilometers, go via Kampong Cham to Kampot). Hi there, We’re heading to Cambodia for 15 days in February 2026. We’ll spend 3 nights in Siem Reap for the Angkor temples, then check out the floating markets. I’d love to know if Battambang is worth the detour. If so, we’re thinking of taking a ferry across the lake, staying one night, and then flying to the islands for the second week. Which islands would you recommend—Koh Rong or Koh Rong Samloem—or is there another that’s better for relaxation, downtime, and snorkeling? Thanks for your tips!

Five days in Chiang Mai seems a bit long to us. What do you recommend between the 9th and 15th, and which island? We’re not big fans of sunbathing—we’d love to snorkel and explore the island. Ideally, I’d have liked to find a house to rent, but every time, I end up with places far from the beach, whereas we’d really like to be able to walk to the beach for strolls. By the way, are there a lot of shells? Can we collect them? It seems that in August, swimming can sometimes be tricky due to tides—is that true? Thanks to all the contributors! 😊

Bonjour, nous partons le 22/12 /2019 pour 18jours au Cambodge . Voici le circuit que j'ai crée et j'aimerai avoir votre avis sachant que nous arrivons et repartons de Phnom Penh (PP) PP : 2 nuits, visite des marchés et des pagodes. Savez vous si la messe de Noël est célébrée et si oui , dans quelle église? (je n'ai rien trouvé sur ce sujet sur internet) Kompong Cham: 2 nuits, peut être prendre un guide avec tuk tuk pour visiter la ville et les villages environnants, louer un vélo pour se rendre sur l'ile de Koh Pen Kompong Thom: 2 nuits, visite des villages environnants. Kampong Phluk ? pour être au bord du Tolé Sap. Siem REap: 4 nuits, visites des temples d'Ankor et de la ville. Puis prendre le bateau jusqu'à Battambang : 8 h de bateau Battambang: 2 nuits , visite de la ville. Puis bus jusquà Kep ou alors faire une escale dans une ville entre Batttambang et PP ? A kep : louer une vespa et se ballader , Puis Kampot: louer une vespa, visiter une ferme de poivre Aller sur une ile? retour sur PP voilà plus ou moins notre périple . Le nombre de nuits n'est pas fixe. Pensez vous que c'est jouable en 18jours ou bien est ce trop fatiguant? Avez vous d'autres propositions? En arrivant à PP quel est le transport le plus adapté pour se rendre en ville? J'ai lu que le train était gratuit. Merci par avance pour vos conseils.

Hi everyone! I’m heading back to Thailand in July 2026 with a stopover in Cambodia to visit the Angkor site. After Angkor, I’ve booked a stay on Ko Chang island. Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!! I think there are, but I’d need more details!! I went to Thailand in February 2025 and don’t remember having to apply for a visa—is that still the case now? And for Cambodia too? Thanks so much!!! Laurence from Bayonne
