Un petit résumé d'un séjour en Sicile lors d'un second voyage en Italie .
Nous étions près la Côte Sorrentine , ce matin nous partons pour Maratea via la Villa San Giovanni pour prendre le traversier vers la Sicile .
** Sommes arrivé à Messine et installation de 3 nuits, à :Chambres D'hôtes Scilia & Cariddi ..superbe .
Tour de ville en bus avec un guide qui parlait extrêmement bien le français pour 20 euros/personne nous étions 4
Visite du sanctuaire La MadonnaDella Rocca qui est la protectrice de Messine
La Fontaine d'Orion qui est la plus belle fontaine de la Sicile
Le Musée Régional
La Piazza El Duomo pour son clocher , c'est la plus grande horloge astronomique au monde
Le Temple De Sequeste , l'Acropole de Selinote et le cimetière
Les Gorges de l'Alcantara ... pour se mettre les deux pieds dans l'eau... quel bien
La Fontaine d Neptune et l'église Chiesa di Montalto
** Taormine.... nous nous installons pour encore 3 nuits à l'hôtel Taodomus un petit bijou.
Nous avon visité la côté , qui est un site superbe
Le théâtres grec, d'où on peut voir une vue spectaculaire sur la mer et sur le Mont Etna . C'est une vieille ville à visiter avec un jardin publique qui est magnifique , un peu de magasinage , et Cité Médiévale
Souper chez Pépés en bord de mer... excellent
** Etna .... à voir , c, est le volcan le plus haut de l'Europe . Les pentes sont couvertes de vergers , de citronniers et d'orangers . Excursion jusqu'au cratère Silvestre à pied, et aussi jusqu'au cratère central en prenant le funiculaire , c'est unique durée 2:30-3:00 visite de la ville même et de la campagne où l'on retrouve quelques artisants .. Achat de miel
Resto sur place très bon et bon choix .
** Catane : Piazza del Duomo où se trouve la fontaine de l.Éléphant , la Cathédrale un marché de poisson : La Pescheria et le couvent Bénédictin
** Syracuse 3 nuits instalation à l'hôtel Musciara Siracusa très bien situé
Nous nous rendons à la Piazza Armrina , la ville romaine du Casale aux couleurs et aux mosaiques superbes ,
Enna, visite du Château Médiéval, fontaine Aretuse ., le théâtre grec et l'amphithéâtre romain .
L'Église San Giogio
A Modica acheter du chocolat noir, tellement bon , confiserie Antica
Parc archéologique de Neapolis, musée Paolo Orsi
Peties rue et ruelles , le parc de Neapolis , les ruines gréco-romaines
Ballade au bord de l'eau où l'on retrouve de belles plages entre Selinonte et Agrigente
Temple d'Apollon et d'Athéna . Le Porto Piccolo de Syracuse au passé antique est à voir .
Sanctuaire de la Vierge aux Larmes . Le quartier d'ortygle et l'église Casa Professa
Il faut déguster les fameux desserts aux amandes .c' est un must
** Agrigente ....3 nuits au Best Western Hôtel
La Vallée des Temples Culture grèque ville Médiévale
Selinonte ... Visite d'un parc archéologique
Sequeste .... petite ville avec un port de pêche très sympa c'est une ancienne cité grèque , son château
Nous avons passé par Marsala et Trapani achat de vin et de charcuterie ( pas trop quand même ha ha )
** Palerme .......5 nuits Calla Rossa tres très bien
Visite de la ville naturellement , de la Chapelle Palatine de Palerme ( bysantine normande) le Christ Pantocrator . le Palis de Normand
Le site de Palerme est situé sur le flanc d'un Mont Pelligrino tout au creux d'une baie Conca D'Oro et c'est magnifique
Un petit tour du côté de Cefalu qui est à 70 km de Palerme une journée de baignade , visite du quartier médiéval La Rocca
Galeries d'arts et musées.
Les jardins du cloître de San Giovani Degli Eremiti et le théâtre de Massimo
Le Grand Marché Vucciria de Palerme s'étend de la Piazza San Dominico jusqu'au port dans un quartier complètement médiéval . Artisants , boutiques de bon petits bistro pour le lunch. C'est à voir et tu sentiras les arômes de toutes sorte d'épices (à acheter )
Visite des vieux quartiers qui s'étendent jusqu'au port... une vraie bonne marche .
Le port Monte Pelligrino , le sanctuaire de Ste-Rosalie , la Cathédrale de Palerme : Notre Dame de l'Assomption où nous avons assister à un mariage ( le Parrain ..bien oui )
Le centre de Palerme les petites rues , le métro 2 lignes
le Parc de la Favorite , le Palais Chiramonte, le Palis Gongi, l.église Santa Caterina , le théâtre de Pupi.. ce sont de marionnettes à voir
A déguster de la ratatouille
Restos : Il Firriato (agneau) Kursai( bistro Antico Spinnato (un bon café resto ) Charleston (chic $$$)
** Montreale à 9km de Palerme
Le cloître et la ville la Cathédrale de part son architecture normande
** Casale ...... Ville Romaine , architecture et masaiques
Les Jardins de la Villa Garibaldi
** Catane ........ ville de céramique et de dentelle (achats)
Sanvito lo Capo achat d'huile d'olive et très belle plage
Casteluzzo village pitoresque d'oliviers
** Siderno ..... 3 nuits hôtel Grand Hôtel Président.... Super.
Excursion de 40 km + départ vers Geroce qui est une ville médiévale , visite de la Cathédrale .
Nous prenons le petit train pour visiter . Dégustation de vins , d'olives et repas des spécialités Calabraise dans un resto typique . Nous continuons notre visite vers la côte des Jasmins et arrêt à Ardore, une marina , encore une dégustation , du Vinigreco. du fromage Mozarella qui est fabriqué dans la région de Paestum et un digestif local Il Bergamotto .... de la vraie dynamite mais bon pour les costaud .
On peut faire aussi une excusion de 5:00 en bateau Il reste à vérifier les points d'accès .
En ce qui concerne les repas , beaucoup de poissons :thon espadon et sardines (savoureuses ) souvent servi avec des pignons , des raisins , ail et basilic et au goût des tomates .
Le mouton , le bœuf, le porc , l'agneau rotie à se jeter par terre pour ce dernier .
Les desserts , j'en parle même pas.. délicieux , mais bon si vous avez le bec fin en voici quelques uns : Corneto siciliano : cornet fourré de crème , Cassalena Siciliana : ¸pâte d'amandes . Tous les gâteaux siciliens sont bons .
Et que dire du vin ...un petit luxe , un verre de Mamertino 22 euros . Le lait d'amandes est très rafraîchissant pour ceux et celles qui aiment le lait . je donne les grandes lignes que j'ai pu écrire et des notes que jai pu prendre.
Nous avons vu des paysages à vous couper le souffle , des paysages fantastiques , Des montagnes de cultures , des champs d'oliviers, de vignes et toutes ces vallées immenses
**Les Salines, des amas de sel , incroyable à voir et de toute beautée (achat de sel )
Notre parcours à débuter le matin en partant de Maratea (Hotel Pineta Maratea superbe )pour se rendre à la Villa de San Giovani , puis prendre le traversier pour arriver à Messine ensuite continuation vers Taormina Catane , Syracuse Agrigente, Selinonte , Segeste en passant par Marsala et Trapani et ensuite Palerme , Montreale (une journée à la plage )et retour à Palerme traversier pour Naples et direction Rome
Nous avions un voiture de location et nous avons fait quelques excusrsions avec guide.( Etna , Messine et Palerme en fait pour se reposer de la voiture

Ciao, Je vais ajouter à votre information que a été fermé l'autoroute A19 Palerme-Catane à cause de l'écroulement d'un pylône. La circulation est détournée à la sortie de Buonfornello pour revenir seulement après Tremonzelli.

Habituellement, nous avons tendance à éviter d'aller à Corleone parce que elle est bien connu pour etre le berceau de la mafia sicilienne. Il faut être prudent d'aller dans certains endroits de la Sicile connus pour être dangereux, un de mes amis siciliennes me le dit toujour.

Corleone n'est pas du tout une ville dangereuse.
Il faut y aller car de nombreuses associations se battent contre l'organisation mafieuse Sicilienne. Corleone n'est que le lieu de naissance de quelques '' Capo di Capi ''.
Il faut visiter le CIDMA, le musée consacré à la Mafia et à la lutte contre cette organisation. Il faut soutenir ceux qui se battent. Et puis la région est si belle, et les gens si gentils.
Ma ami qui m'a conseillé de faire attention à ne pas aller dans les quartiers à risque de la Sicilia c'est une de ces personnes qui luttent contre la mafia et puisque elle vit en Sicile elle connais bien où elle peut aller et où non. C'est seulement un conseil que je donne, très prudent, parfois on peut se retrouver dans des situations dangereuses par accident.
Nous avons envie de voir pas mal de chose mais n'avons pas non plus envie de courir. Depuis mon dernier message et grâce à vos réponses, nous avons affiné notre itinéraire.
Nous arrivons à Palerme, nous louerons une voiture pour être plus libre de nos mouvements.
départ direct pour San Vito lo Capo - nous restons 2 nuit pour pouvoir rayonner
puis Trapani - 1 ou 2 nuits
Iles Egades - 2 nuits (nous ne savons pas encore si nous restons à Trapani et faisons des excursions à la journée ou si nous logeons sur place ???)
ensuite on longe la côte et on arrive à Agrigente - 1 ou 2 nuits
puis départs pour Ragusa - Scicli / Modica - 1 nuit
puis Syracuse - 2 nuits
Tormina - 3 nuits (ce sera notre point de départ pour faire l'Etna, à moins qu'un autre soit mieux ??)
Iles eoliennes - 3 nuits
Cefalu - 1 nuit
Palerme - 3 nuits
N'hésitez pas à me faire vos commentaires sur cet itinéraire, nous avons à la fois envie de faire des visites culturelles mais aussi envie de nous reposer sur les magnifiques plages. Nous aimerions beaucoup visiter un ou 2 vignobles également, et fabricants de fromage et charcuterie.
Je me demande également comment nous pourrons gérer la voiture pendant la visite des îles. Est-il mieux de la garder l'ensemble du séjour et de la rendre à Palerme ou pensez-vous qu'il vaut mieux la déposer et en reprendre une autre ? Connaissez vous des agences de locations avec un bon rapport qualité prix ?
Pourquoi ne pas rester sur Trapani pour rayonner (San Vito) + Erice
Pour la voiture, vous la rendez à Milazzo, mais faut bien s'assurer qu'on peut la déposer, tester pour Juillet donc pleine période avec Avis ça marche, et compter un supplément pour restitution dans une autre agence, mais une économie, et vous rendre à Céfalù et puis Palerme en train. Vous conseiller un loueur, un peu difficile de donner son avis.
Ragusa-Scicli-Modica cela fait beaucoup, prévoyer plutôt d'Agrigente, une remontée sur Piazza pour la Villa Casale, Ragusa, Modica? sans oublier NOTO.
Votre programme "sonne" sympa, sélectionnant le de La Sicile.Son timing me paraît, globalement, "matcher" vos attentes de séjour.
Je suppose qu'au départ de San Vito Lo Capo (joli) vous prévoyez de randonner dans la superbe Réserve de Zingaro.
Prévoir peut-être plutôt 2 nuits pour les très belles Ragusa, Scicli, Modica et Noto (à ne pas oublier).
Profitez d'avoir une voiture pour visiter les petits villages dans l'arrière-Pays de Taormina, dont certains figurent dans la (cf Google).
Beaucoup de touristes dorment à Catania (vibrante et intéressante), proche de l'Etna.
Perso avons opté pour les transports collectifs pour être plus libres de nos mouvements et tranquilles, aussi pas d'avis sur la gestion d'une location de caisse (informez-vous bien , sur le moteur de recherche de VF-en haut de page-, sur les arnaques, recommandations ou autres désagréments de parking et/ou de vols, pour ne pas être pris au dépourvu...).
Vous tenez le bon bout de la prépa de votre escapade amoureuse en tous cas.
Pourquoi pas checker le calendrier culturel&festif de l'île sur le net, certaines manifestations ou autres marchés locaux peuvent valoir le jus, en révélant l'âme des lieux.
Ciao, j'ai passé deux mois à travailler dans le Riserva dello Zingaro et je peux te confirmer qu'elle est merveilleuse. ne pas oublier de manger les "Panelle", les "arancini" et sandwiches à la crème glacée 🙂
Ah, ah, Pascal vous mangerez comme des affamés pour les bonnes choses que la Siclia offre, et puis tout est pas cher! pour digérer 🤪 en Sicile il y a une liqueur typique nommé "Passito di Pantelleria".

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?

I’ve found some great deals on flights to two destinations: Menorca in the Balearic Islands and Alghero in Sardinia.
The flights would take us from Bordeaux to Menorca on the evening of 9/07 and return to Bordeaux in the evening on 13/07.
Or to Alghero very early on 10/07 (departure at 6 AM) and return in the mid-afternoon on 13/07.
We love beautiful landscapes, the sea, snorkeling, walks (hiking), and the charm of villages.
We want to spend some quality time as a couple without our kids and mix discovery with relaxation.
I can’t make up my mind. The transport costs are roughly the same when you factor in parking for Sardinia since the early departure means no public transport from home.
We’ve never been to Menorca, Sardinia, or Italy at all. I’ve been to Majorca, though.
Menorca would be 4 nights and 4 days, while Alghero would be 3 nights and 2.5 days.
Also, what itinerary would you recommend for Alghero and Menorca?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.

Largo di Torre Argentina: a sacred spot for cats.
Tuesday 22:
The Vatican: Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel in the morning. Afternoon: St. Peter’s Basilica, the dome, and if possible, the necropolis.
Wednesday 23:
Morning: Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. Afternoon: Trastevere neighborhood and the Monumento a Garibaldi.
Thursday 24:
Piazza Navona, Church of St. Louis of the French, the Pantheon, Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Venezia, Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore, Trevi Fountain.
Friday 25:
Villa Borghese, Piazza del Popolo, Spanish Steps, Quirinale, Piazza della Repubblica, and Santa Maria degli Angeli.

We’re heading to the Lofoten Islands first, then Senja, near Tromsø, and finally the North Cape.
We’ll likely start from northern Finland (flight tickets and car rentals are more affordable there).
I’d like to book accommodations early to have more options.
Good value-for-money places go fast in these pricey Nordic destinations...
But where should we book?

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
