Looking for volunteer work and accommodation for 6 months in Cameroon

Hi, I just wanted to step in and warn people who are interested in doing eco-volunteering abroad. I had this experience recently and I’m really disappointed. Watch out for pompous and enticing websites, and their associated blogs where all the comments are inevitably positive. In my case, I went to Kenya after checking out the many sites of this organization (no fewer than 4 links), which boasted about organizing eco-volunteering and eco-solidarity activities, helping the local population, including an orphanage and a refugee camp. In reality, we ended up with a couple of opportunistic French people who treated their staff with contempt and authoritarianism, spending their days on the internet creating new sites to attract more clients. No contact with the local population, let alone the orphanage or refugees, and constant denigration of Africans. The presence of their staff, who were devoted and lovely, made this trip a success. We spent all our time with them and managed to ignore their bosses. We left a review on Tripadvisor, which was quickly contested by the director of the establishment, but we don’t want to let people like that get rich by taking advantage of tourists’ generosity. That’s what we think of Muringa Farm in Subukia, Kenya, and we’re counting on the forum to prevent others from being scammed. Thanks

This isn't an ad! Young Nepalis want to learn French cooking! Fancy helping out? You'll be hosted and fed :)) Thanks and maybe see you soon in Nepal.

I’m a retired teacher looking for a 6-month mission (December 2026 to May 2027) in Francophone Africa. Being housed in the center would be a plus for me. I have experience in Haiti and especially in Cameroon. I’m financially independent. Thank you.

A former math teacher (40 years of experience in 6, 5, 4, 3) looking to help in Togo and in need of accommodation for 6 months from December 2026 to May 2027. If you're interested or know of any organization, please don't hesitate to reach out. Pierre

Hello,

My name is Valerie and I live in France. I’m a street artist—I perform street shows that blend circus and clowning. I also work as a clown in hospitals and retirement homes in France.

I’m planning to spend two months in Morocco from January 19, 2027, to March 13, 2027. I’ll be traveling in a truck, so I’ll be mobile.

I’d love to offer my time as a volunteer to perform a show that’s suitable for all audiences (kids and adults) in village squares. I’d also like to visit hospitals and orphanages as a clown.

My route will start in Nador, then head down to Merzouga, before making my way to the coast either above or below Agadir. Toward the end of my trip, I’ll return to Zagora and Merzouga before leaving from either Nador or Tangier.

I already have contacts in Merzouga and Zagora. Next, I’d like to head toward the coast above or below Agadir, and I’m looking for contacts (associations, orphanages, hospitals) in that area or along my route.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. valgelac@hotmail.com valerie

My question might seem a bit out of place in a "travel" forum, but I’m giving it a shot anyway. I’m thinking about sponsoring a child in Vietnam. After some online research, I’ve found a lot of organizations that offer this, but I’m struggling to make a choice. Could anyone guide me in making my decision? Thanks in advance and have a great day.

Hello,

I’m a volunteer leader at a youth center (MJC), and we’ve been deeply moved by everything happening in Madagascar—extreme poverty, endangered animals, deforestation, and so on. Plus, one of our teens has a Malagasy friend, so our group wants to travel there next year. Throughout this year, they’ve planned fundraisers to collect donations (sheets, dish towels, schoolbooks, hygiene products, etc.) and funds to cover their trip and stay.

They’re really motivated and generous—they already volunteer in schools and senior centers, and they’re always welcomed warmly.

But so far, they haven’t found any organizations in Madagascar willing to host them for two weeks (orphanages, schools, animal protection parks, etc.). Does anyone know of any contacts, please? Looking forward to your replies. Have a great evening!

Hi everyone,

After 8 months of volunteering in Tanzania at a center for street children, I’d like to go back for a year in the same kind of role—this time in Burkina. So I’m looking for contacts in this field, in Ouaga or elsewhere. I’m *super* motivated! It’s been over two years since I got back from Tanzania, and I’m starting to feel restless! Thanks so much!! Emmanuelle.

hi there,

Solidafrica is a recognized humanitarian association of general interest. We donate wheelchairs in Africa. We currently have 2 wheelchairs that we would like to give to our partner, the Benin Handisport Federation. If you're traveling to Benin, alone or with someone, we could give you one of these 2 wheelchairs (or both). Out of the 40 kg of luggage you're allowed, a wheelchair will only take up less than half. Our partner can pick it up at Cotonou Airport...

Help us give away at least one of these wheelchairs, turning your trip into a solidarity and humanitarian action.

Don't hesitate to ask us for more information.

We've already done this through the VoyageForum site, and everything went very smoothly. We're present at departure from one of the Paris airports, just in case.

Hi, I’m interested in humanitarian missions—want to explore and help others while showing my kids how things work elsewhere and pitching in. Looking for advice.

Hello,

I’m looking for people who’ve volunteered with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in India for any useful info.

Thanks so much in advance for your replies

Hi everyone, I’m looking to connect with the community involved in humanitarian travel in Senegal

Hello, we’d like to travel as a family to Madagascar (2 parents, 2 kids aged 10 and 12). A first trip over 15 years ago completely amazed and moved me with its beauty, kindness, and life experiences—but also its poverty and hardship. That’s why I think it’s possible to introduce our kids to this island while also doing something useful through volunteering. The window is short—15 days in March 2020—which means avoiding the north and east of the island due to cyclones and focusing on the south instead. Some ecovolunteering projects exist online, but the cost is sometimes prohibitive, and kids are rarely accepted. Do you have any ideas or contacts? Thanks in advance!
