Hi everyone,
I’m in the middle of planning a round-the-world 4x4 trip spread over 2 years, covering around 70 countries. Unfortunately, using a vehicle poses some challenges when it comes to moving between continents (e.g., the Bering Strait). After lots of research, consulting books, maps, and making countless phone calls, I still can’t figure out how to get from Russia to Alaska via the Bering Strait (access via the Road of Bones to Magadan and then continuing above Anadyr).
So, I’m open to any recommendations, tips, or contacts to find out if it’s possible by boat or any other means.

Has anyone taken a ferry or water shuttle from Bellingham or Vancouver to Whittier?
Hi there,
Is the Magic Bus 142, which is at the Museum of the North in Fairbanks for restoration, currently on public display? Can we see it during a visit to the museum? Thanks so much for your help! Syl

Hi there,
We're heading to Alaska in 9 days for 27 days and renting a truck camper. We'll be staying at campgrounds—some are already booked, and others are first-come, first-served. For the latter, if there's no reception, how do we pay for the nights and the site? Is there a system with boxes where we drop the money? How does it work when there's no one at the campground entrance? Thanks so much for your answers and firsthand experiences! Syl

Hi everyone,
My husband and I are planning an RV trip to Alaska. If any of you have already done a road trip in that part of the world, could you share your experience with us? We’re planning to leave in mid-June (departing from Halifax).
Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated.
Annie
Hi everyone,
We’d like some info on insurance for our RV—it’s a 2024 heavy vehicle, and we’re having trouble finding coverage for a 6-month trip through Canada, Alaska, and the USA. If anyone knows an insurance company that offers this kind of policy, please share the details with us.

Hi everyone,
I’m finally heading to the Yukon in May-June 2025 and also Alaska.
My flight is booked, the truck camper too, but I’m a bit stuck on visas:
I’ll arrive in Canada by plane, drive to Alaska by road, and return to Canada by road before flying out again. Is the eTA sufficient?
I’d also love to hear from people who’ve done this trip—great tips, places to stay, warnings, or personal experiences!
What about bear spray? Where can I find it, and how much does it cost?
I’ll be spending a few days in Whitehorse when I arrive on May 8th, and again the weekend of June 20th—any suggestions for accommodation are welcome.
I’m Belgian and flying out of Germany.
