Nous partons pour 3 semaines en Andalousie à la fin octobre et nous aurions préféré ne rien réserver pour établir notre itinéraire au gré de nos coups de coeur. Bien sûr, ce ne pas partout qu'il est possible et avantageux de voyager de cette façon et j'aimerais savoir si l'Andalousie en fait partie.
Nous avons tout de même réservé notre voiture ainsi que notre première nuit à notre arrivée. Pour le reste... Risquons-nous d'avoir des problèmes à trouver hébergement ou à avoir de la difficulté à faire certaines visites comme l'Alhambra?

Si c'est pour 2 personnes, pourquoi pas ! et si tu as envie de perdre du temps sur ta journée de visites: OK
N'oublie pas que fin octobre les jours sont courts ce qui restreint déjà le timing pour se balader... 19h30 le 27/10 mais 18h30 le 28 (oui il y a un changement d'heure...).
C'est très tentant, mais l'Andalousie, en octobre, est en saison haute ... Pour les hébergements, à 2 personnes, vous trouverez sûrement , mais des sites comme l'Alhambra, je doute ... Le calendrier pour octobre commence déjà à se remplir 🤪 ... Idem pour Sevilla ou d'autres sites connus.
Oui bien sur Annik... C'est pareil pour tte l'Andalousie, ts les sites sont très visités, en particulier les plus beaux comme ceux que tu cites. Comme te le dit Fabriz : OCTOBRE / NOVEMBRE est une "haute saison" pour l'Andalousie.
Je vais être plus radicale : oublie la visite de l'Alhambra sans réservation....
Pour loger un couple ça devrait être plus facile, le mieux ce sont les gîtes, chambres d'hôtes, chez l'habitant ... etc . Bref les endroits sympas où l'hôte vous donne de bonnes idées de visites!

Comme les autres intervenants, je partage leur avis. Il faudrait dans l'idéal réserver votre (ou vos) hébergement(s), le véhicule (si vous bougez en Espagne? ) et surtout l'Alhambra
Je rejoins l'avis de Fabriz, en ce qui concerne l'hébergement.
Fin Octobre vous ne devriez pas avoir de problèmes.

Et puisque vous partez "à l'aventure", et comme Roussillon s'est manifestée… Après Granada, pourquoi pas une trés jolie découverte, pour une demie journée et/ou une soirée : Almuñecar 😇 (Granada - Almuñecar environ 40 minutes).

- à 10/15 minutes NERJA (très anglo-saxonne)
- à 15/20 minutes FRIGILIANA (magnifique village blanc)
- à 5 minutes LA HERRADURA et sa magnifique baie puis prendre la "vieille route" pour des paysages superbes !!
- au départ d'Almuñecar, magnifique balade d'une journée, vers JETE et OTIVAR, puis la montagne (en +/-10kms on passe du niveau de la mer à 1300m d'alt.), retour par ALHAMA DE GRANADA --> La AXARQUIA --> VELEZ MALAGA --> Almuñecar.
- au départ d'Almuñecar, un autre magnifique balade d'une journée vers l'Alpujarra granadina : Almuñecar -> VELEZ BENAUDALLA --> ORGIVA --> PAMPANEIRA --> BUBION --> CAPILEIRA --> les pentes de la Sierra Nevada (chemin carrossable si beau temps).
- et le soir Roussillon pourra vous initier au tapeo almuñequero 😛
Wow! Tout un programme! lol. J'en suis encore à mes balbutiement avec la région alors beaucoup de ces endroits ne me sont pas encore connus mais j'adore avoir des suggestions.
En terme de temps, je me demande justement, les endroits comme Nerja ou Ronda, combien de temps devrait-on y passer quand on aime prendre le temps de découvrir la beauté et l'esprit de l'endroit mais qu'on n'est pas des passionnés de musées et trucs du genre. Je sais ce que les guides proposent mais souvent, nous réalisons que nous ne respectons pas vraiment ce que les guides proposent. Nous pouvons décider de nous laisser imprégner par un petit village qui semblait tout banal ou au contraire à peine s'arrêter à un endroit hyper touristique.
Les conseils de visites/découvertes de Patxi sont excellentes, je n'aurai pas fait mieux...
Pour confirmer ses dires : oui j'aurai beaucoup de plaisir à déguster une tapa avec vous et vous guider si vous le souhaitez.
NERJA est une petite ville qui ne vous prendra pas plus d'une journée pour la découvrir: Balcon de Europa, petites rues pietonnes et escapade dans les ruines de l'ancienne usine de cannes à sucre...
Puis continuer à peine 5 km plus loin, au village de Frigiliana qui a été élu le 3eme plus joli village blanc d'Espagne il y a quelques années, il garde un charme fou, se perdre ds ses petites rues est un plaisir.
Vous pourrez faire les 2 - Nerja et Frigiliana - dans la journée.

Bon, nous avons décidé de réserver tout au moins une partie de notre voyage afin de profiter le plus possible de nos "must do". Maintenant, en ce qui concerne l'Alhambra, je suis un peu mélangée... Nous avons trouvé tout de même plusieurs billets/forfaits disponibles mais à des prix très différents et je suis quelque peu confuse... Il y a des trucs de soirée, de jour, un inclus les monuments andalous, certains se décrivent "skip the line", etc etc. Je ne sais pas trop ce qui vaut la peine... Qu'en pensez-vous?
On verra ce que les "autres" qui connaissent bien Granada et l'Alhambra t'en diront, mais en ce qui me concerne, je te dirai de réserver l'entrée générale simple au tarif de 14 Euros, directement sur le site de l'Alhambra et non pas par un quelconque prestataire de services.

Cette visite générale, permet d'avoir accés à l'intégralité du site, sans aucune presse, la seule contrainte étant l'heure d'entrée au Palais Nazarides, que tu devras choisir dés le moment de ta réservation.
Après cet horaire ne pourra plus être changé, et c'est lui qui conditionnera le déroulé de ta visite.
Perso, je conseille plutôt la visite de l'après midi, avec une entrée au Palais Nazarides vers 15h/15h30.
Cela fait rentrer sur le site vers 14h, on a le temps d'aller visiter le Generalife, puis tranquillement sur le chemin pour aller vers le Palais, on se promène dans les jardins, puis on descend vers l'Alcazaba, en passant on découvre le hamman, puis le palais de Carlos Quinto, on profite des sanitaires (si besoin… ce sont les seuls !!) et suivant l'horaire on découvre la forteresse de l'Alcazaba ou on se dirige vers l'entrée du Palais.
L'entrée au palais s'effectue dans la demie heure choisie : avant tu ne rentres pas … après tu ne rentres plus … !!
Inutile de faire le pied de grue longtemps à l'avance. Je m'explique :
- si tu as choisi une entrée entre 15h et 15h30, il faudra passer le contrôle d'accés dans cette tranche horaire. A 15h28 tu rentreras toujours… mais à 15h32 tu ne rentreras plus !!
- donc inutile de se précipiter avant 15h … la queue sera longue et tu piétineras pour rien !!
- arriver à l'accés vers l'entrée à 15h15/15h20 … la file d'attente pour cette demie-heure sera sans doute écoulée, et tu passeras comme une lettre à la poste... 😄
- après, à l'intérieur, il n'y a aucune obligation, ni pour le sens de la visite, ni pour d'éventuels retours en arrière, non plus pour des haltes plus ou moins longues.
- quand on sort du Palais, il reste largement le temps pour aller voir ce que l'on n'aurait pas eu le temps de voir, ou bien revoir un endroit, ou encore plus simplement, profiter des jardins en se posant un peu avant de replonger vers la ville.Souvent on a envie de faire des photos sans "public". Il est facile de s'arrêter, attendre que le groupe qui est devant (ou derrière) passe, et avec un peu de patience, on se retrouve seul/e à l'endroit ou quelques minutes avant et quelques minutes après il y aura un groupe de touristes collés à leur guide, ou une nuée de nippons ou de chinois visitant les lieux au pas de course, ombrelles ouvertes, chapeaux vissés sur la tête, et "masque à gaz" en place 😕 ...
Donc ne pas hésiter à s'arrêter, à prendre son temps, à revenir sus ses pas, à doubler un groupe "encombrant" en sachant qu'après on pourra revenir en arrière …
Ceux qui connaissent me comprendront sans aucun doute, mais je me rends compte que c'est bien plus facile à faire qu'à expliquer … 😏
Grosso-modo, pour la visite complète de l'Alhambra il faut compter environ 4h, dont une bonne heure pour le seul palais Nazarides.
Peut être que les amis "habitants des cavernes" qui sont plus au fait de l'actualité de l'Alhambra auront-ils des précisions ou des bé-mols à apporter à mes conseils …

Tiens… voilà pour une québecquoise, une expérience originale à vivre : découvrir l'habitat troglodyte pour un jour… deux jours… plus… à Guadix !!!
Puis à partir de cette petite ville, visiter l'Alpujarra Almeriense (versant Nord/Ouest de la Sierra Nevada) totalement différente de l'Alpujarra Granadina, la plus connue (versant Est).
Juste "comme ça" une idée de balade magnifique … partir de Guadix, aller jusqu'à La Calahorra, découvrir son château aux formes surprenantes, puis prendre la petite route qui grimpe jusqu'à prés de 2000m dans la Sierra Nevada et permet d'accéder au "Puerto de la Raga".
Paysages à couper le souffle garantis pour un pique-nique dans un décor magnifique, sur la ligne de crêtes de la Sierra Nevada !!
Après, on choisi de faire demi tour ou bien on redescend sur l'autre versant et on rejoint Granada en passant par Bubion … Pampaneira … Lanjarron … (Alpujarra granadina)
Et puis, au retour chez toi, tu pourras dire ... "j'ai marché sur les traces d'Indiana Jones" … 😛

Rien à rajouter, plus complet et plus précis c'est impossible. La seule chose qui diffère pour moi c'est que je préfère la visite de l'Alhambra le matin ( il fait moins chaud pour démarrer ) . Mais il est possible en effet que ce soit un horaire qui laisse moins de temps , surtout sans touristes autour!
Pour Guadix, je confirme, si vous avez la chance de rencontrer Fabriz ( present sur le forum) vous aurez l'assurance d'un bon guide, anecdotes comprises. Et dormir dans une cueva c'est comme changer de planète!!! Etonnant !!

Je dirais que la seule chose pour moi qui diverge c'est ma préférence pour la visite de l'Alhambra le matin, moins chaud pour demarrer. Mais il est possible en effet que cela laisse moins de temps "sans touristes" pour faire les photos ! Bon il est TRÈS difficile d'être seul au monde ds de tels splendides endroits !
Pour Guadix je confirme, un endroit à ne pas rater si on aime l'inattendu. J'ai eu la chance, le mois dernier, de rencontrer Fabriz ( présent sur le forum ) dont parle Patxi, il connait bien le coin, avec anecdotes a l'appui .
Ce secteur de Guadix est connu pour ses falaises d'argile à perte de vue, dans lesquelles nos anciens, et même encore maintenant, vivaient. Dormir dans une cueva c'est comme être ds un autre monde, ÉTONNANT. là encore Fabriz en connait un rayon.
Je n'ai plus beaucoup de choses à ajouter si ce n'est que le voyage de Ninike paraît être prévu fin octobre-début Novembre, et donc 2 choses:
- le dernier week-end du mois d'octobre, on change d'heure, et alors les journées paraissent plus courtes, et j'aurais aussi tendance à préférer une visite de l'Alhambra en fin de matinée vers 11h ou 12h. Je crois que les horaires d'ouverture du site changent également. A vérifier sur le site officiel donné par Patxi sur son message précédent.
- cette année le jour de la Toussaint est le jeudi 1er novembre. C'est ainsi que beaucoup d'européens auront un grand Pont férié du 31 octobre au soir jusqu'au dimanche 4 au matin ... Cette précision est pour la réservation de vos hébergements, mais également Alhambra ou Sevilla ou tout autre site demandant une réservation.
Et petite anecdote, j'ai eu l'occasion, -à cette même saison- de monter à l'Alhambra à pieds par la Cuesta de Gomerez à partir de la Plaza Nueva ... S'il existe encore, il y a un petit-bar cafeteria qui -à cette saison- fait des jus de grenades naturels qui sont à tomber par terre 😇 ... Non seulement, c'est bon, et en plus, çà vous donne tout plein d'énergie pour monter jusqu'à la Taquilla de l'Alhambra à pieds 😏😏😏

Nous avons réservé les billets standards pour la fin d'après-midi et avons presque terminé nos réservations d'hébergement. Pour des raisons de contraintes de temps, nous n'avons pas décidé de dormir à Guadix mais nous pourrons nous y arrêter le temps d'un moment et nous gouterons tout de même à un soupçon de maison troglodyte puisque mon mari en a trouvé une directement à Grenade. Probablement pas tout à fait aussi typique que celle que l'on trouve à Guadix mais le compromis semblait bien acceptable.
J'ai noté vos suggestions d'itinéraires et comme nous adorons faire de la voiture, je crois que ça nous sera bien utile. ;).

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

Summer 2027 is going to be Norwegian for us!
We’re heading to the Lofoten Islands first, then Senja, near Tromsø, and finally the North Cape.
We’ll likely start from northern Finland (flight tickets and car rentals are more affordable there).
I’d like to book accommodations early to have more options.
Good value-for-money places go fast in these pricey Nordic destinations...
But where should we book?
We’re planning to stay around ten nights in the Lofoten Islands.
What’s the best approach?
One place in the central part and explore from there?
One place in the south and another in the center?
Or one in the south, one in the center, and one in the north (3-4-3 nights)?

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?

NERJA est une petite ville qui ne vous prendra pas plus d'une journée pour la découvrir: Balcon de Europa, petites rues pietonnes et escapade dans les ruines de l'ancienne usine de cannes à sucre...
Puis continuer à peine 5 km plus loin, au village de Frigiliana qui a été élu le 3eme plus joli village blanc d'Espagne il y a quelques années, il garde un charme fou, se perdre ds ses petites rues est un plaisir.
Vous pourrez faire les 2 - Nerja et Frigiliana - dans la journée.
