Hello,

Kudos to this bar! It's a fantastic initiative, and it's delivered with humor (and irony too).

Hi,

I don’t see the humor in it (the text also specifies that “this isn’t a joke”), but I also think it’s a great initiative from this bar.

Hey, you can't really cut a slice of pizza while holding your smartphone—it’s counterproductive... Unless your smartphone comes with a knife and fork, like a Swiss Army knife! 🙂 Not to mention, if you're eating with your phone in hand and your fingers are greasy, you might end up staining it...

They’ll probably let me take photos of the dishes they serve me so I can quickly post them on my Instagram, FB, TikTok, and what have you!

Hi Alain

This reminded me of a sign I saw in Ubud (also at the entrance of a bar or restaurant), even though it was more humor-focused:

Si tu diffères de moi, mon frère, loin de me léser, tu m'enrichis (Saint Exupéry)

Hi there,

If they don’t want people glued to their phones or the "idiots," they won’t have anyone left—because we’re always someone else’s "idiot"...

Hi there,

There’s a bit of a buzz about this, for sure. That said, these folks should just do their job—where they’re certainly very skilled and relevant—and not lecture their customers. A pretty odd business approach, in any case, if the sign is to be taken seriously, which I doubt.

And again at the entrance of a property in Sagone, Southern Corsica:

Good evening, the sign is partly faded: actually, it should read "halt to the conscripts." In Corsica, they don’t want compulsory military service. I’m sure this remark will have you rolling with laughter.
