Hi there, Can anyone give me some info on Barcelona neighborhoods? Is Poblenou a good area? Which parts of the city should we avoid? Thanks!

Hi there,

Poblenou is nice, but it might be a bit far from the center to stay there (it's all relative, though). You'll need to take the metro for a few stops. It's hard to do everything on foot unless you're a great walker!

Don’t miss the cemetery and the famous "Kiss of Death"... 😮

There aren’t really any neighborhoods to avoid in Barcelona unless you go very far from the center.

La Rambla and El Raval have a somewhat sketchy reputation, but the area is getting more and more "gentrified." The only real danger is pickpockets. I’ve walked through El Raval day and night without any issues... 😉 www.lasourisglobe-trotteuse.fr/...-rambla-et-el...

Hi,

I confirm what Clicsouris said. For Raval, it’s not the best area at night. Last summer, you could still see some "dealers" hanging around. As a tourist, you’re not really at risk, but in the past, I’ve witnessed a few altercations. I really like the Gothic Quarter, but the prices are higher. Every neighborhood has its pros. The ideal is to find the one that fits your budget and your sightseeing plans.

Here’s a list of some interesting accommodations in Barcelona.

Happy searching

Hi there! As for neighborhoods to avoid, La Mina has a pretty bad reputation, according to the locals themselves. On the other hand, Poblenou is still one of my favorite neighborhoods—definitely worth exploring! It’s a bit off the tourist track but still close to the sea, well-connected by metro, lively without being chaotic. And best of all, the cafés and restaurants are much more affordable than elsewhere. I didn’t know Barcelona before, and it ended up being a real favorite. For extra tips, I found a lot of answers and inspiration on "Bonjour Barcelone," which is packed with resources, especially when you’re arriving for the first time! Happy travels!
