Pour notre voyage de noces, nous souhaitons faire un circuit aux USA. (auto-tour à deux)
Après diverses recherches (Internet+agences), nous avons ce programme et souhaiterions avoir vos avis sur le circuit:
Jour 0 : Arrivé San Fransisco 20h
Jour 1,2 : San Fransisco (avec excursion Alcatraz)
Jour 3,4 : Park Yosemite (randonnées)
Jour 5 : Bakersfield (Sequoia)
Jour 6,7 : Las Vegas (avec excursion Vallee de la Mort)
Jour 8 : Bryce Canyon
Jour 9,10 : Page (Lake Powell, avec excursion Antelope Canyon)
Jour 11 : Grand Canyon
Jour 12,13 : San Diego (avec 1 journée au SeaWorld)
Jour 14,15,16 : Los Angeles (avec 1 journée Universal Studio, 1 journée plages)
Jour 17,18,19,20 : New-York
Jour 21 : Départ pour Paris 22h
On pensait regrouper les 3 jours 3,4,5 en 2 jours. Qu'en pensez vous?
Il nous resterait donc 1 journée à caser (+ éventuellement 1 autre journée supplémentaire de séjour). Que faire de ces 1ou2 jours supplémentaires dans ce circuit?
Y-a-til des endroits qu'il faut absolument voir et qui ne sont pas dans ce circuit?

Oui : Monument Valley ! 🙂 Surtout pour un voyage de noces... Ne manquez pas d'y aller, et de loger à l'hôtel The View !
Pour ce que vous comptez y faire, il n'est pas forcément nécessaire de passer 2 jours entiers à Page. Vous pourriez y passer un jour et demi, et dans l'après-midi du deuxième jour, vous mettre en route pour Monument Valley, y passer la soirée et peut-être un peu le matin, avant de vous mettre en route pour le Grand Canyon... Votre jour supplémentaire à caser serait bien utile ici...
Attention de ne pas oublier les temps de route dans votre planning. Grand Canyon-San Diego, ça prend une journée... Si vous visitez Sea World, il ne vous restera pas de temps pour la ville, très sympa.

Le passage par Bakersfield est il "obligatoire" parce que vous envisagez ce circuit à une période où la Tioga Pass qui traverse Yosemite est fermée ?
Parce que sinon des séquoias, il y en a de très beau dans Yosemite et vosu pourriez vous éviter le détour par Bakersfield et beaucoup de route !
Idem l'excursion à Death Valley à partir de Las Vegas n'est, à mon avis, pas une bonne idée ! 4h de route pour y aller et donc on est à Death Valley en plein milieu de la journée (pas terrible pour la chaleur qui écrase tout !)...

Je ne vois pas comment intégrer Monument Valley (hélas !) entre Page et Grand Canyon dans un tel planning... il faudrait au moins rajouter 1 jour ou sacrifier qq chose sur la fin...

Je pense qu'effectivement tu sous estimes completement tes temps de deplacements.
Et puis tu ne fais pas au plus court. (tu n'as pas precisé de date donc je presume que c'est en été).
Tu fais SF -> Yosemite -> Sequoia -> LV -> Death Valley -> LV : bagatelle , c'est envron 20h de route, et 1050 Miles. Wouhaou, et en plus tu voudrais supprimer un jour là dedans ....
Deja , en integrant Detah Valley sur ta route en Sequoia et LV , tu ne ferais plus que 14h et 750 Miles ( en partant du principe que tu vas au milieu de DV)
Et si comme tout le monde ( je sais , c'est moins original, mais en meme temps votre circuit est un grand classique) tu faisais Yosemite , Death Valley et LV en supprimant Sequoia , tu passes à 1"h et 650 miles. Cela peut sembler negligeable, mais seulement si on aime beaucoup la voiture, et que l'on veut juste prendre quelques photos.
En accord avec la proposition de Virginath, insere Monument Valley en quittant Page vers midi le 2eme jour.
J12,13 à San diego, juste le trajet et Sea Word, dommage, vaudrait mieux rester un jour de plus, d'autant que si les plages sont moins "belles" qu'à La, l'eau est suffisament chaude pour se baigner à SD, ce qui est rarement le cas à LA ( limite).
2jous à SF , c'est peu, 2 jour à Yosemite, c'est en fait 1 et 1/2j avec le trajet, 1/2 jour à sequoia, 1/2j à Deth Valley (en plein cagna en plus). donc si tu recuperes un jour la dedans , cela te fait juste 1/2j à Yosemite...
Ca ne vaut vraiment pas le coup, autant supprimer Yosemite.
Dans tous les cas avec votre planning super serré, je ferais un jour de moins à LA.
Donc en resumé, supprimer Sequoia, ( en le remplacant par la death valley), inserer MV apres Page, rajouter un jour à SD, et si vous pouvez ajouter un jour à SF ( ou NY).

Il semblerait que l'arrêt vers bakerfield soit pas forcément un bon choix. Je pourrais donc partir vers Vegas en passant pas Death Valley.

Donc pour les jours en +, je mettrais en priorité 1 jour de plus à Yosemite (sinon, autant ne pas y aller et faire un vol intérieur SFO --> Las Vegas) et 1 jour au Grand Canyon... et bien sûr au moins 2 à 4 jours de plus à NY ! 😛
Pour San Diego et LA, je ne me prononce pas...

Dans Death Valley : au Stovepipe Wells Village ou au Furnace Creek Ranch...
A Monument Valley : The View si vous avez les moyens... sinon Mexican Hat ou Kayenta...

Tu n'auras jamais l'assentiment de tout le monde bien evidement, chacun réagissant en fonction de ces gouts.

Cela fait vraiment court à Yosemite, je pense qu'il faut que tu fasses l'impasse sur Bodie.
J3 : en partant tot , SFO --> Yosemite et visite.
J4 : Visite Yosemite , puis route en fin d'apres midi vers Lone Pine ( organiser votre visite de Y en faisant en sorte de faire la Tioga le J4 apres midi).
J5 : traversée et visite de la Death valley, puis arrivée de nuit à Vegas : cela vaut le coup en venant du desert de voir le hallo de la ville lumiere.
Jour 7 : Las Vegas --> Bryce Canyon / Nuit à Bryce Canyon
Jour 8 : Bryce Canyon --> Page (aprem Lake Powell) / Nuit à Page
Jour 9 : Page (Antelope Canyon le matin) --> Monument Valley (après-midi) / nuit à M. Valley
en partant le matin de LV, cela vous laisse l'apres midi pour visiter Bryce, encore un peu le lendemain matin, puis partez vers midi pour le lac powell. Vous arriverez au bonnes heures pour aller voir horseshoe bend. Idem le lendemain pour MV partez en debut d'apres midi. Prevoyez d'etre avant 17h à MV.
Vous ne prevoyez vraiment pas beaucoup de temps à GC. Il aurait été mieux de pouvoir y rester 1/2 journée de plus.

Ca nous fait 3jours et demi, c'est sur que c'est court mais bon le principal reste l'ouest américain, New-York c'est juste pour le bonus (tant qu'on est aux USA autant y faire un saut!). On verra qd même l'essentiel!
Après réflexion hier soir, on se dirigerait vers ce planning:
On abandonne le passage par Bakersfield pour la route de la Death Valley (avec un crochet vers Bodie)
On ne ferait qu'une aprèm dans chaque parc (Yosémite, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon...). C'est peut être court mais ca permet de tous les voir.
On rajoute 1 jour à San Diego pour profiter de la ville et se reposer un peu.

J'ai encore quelques questions:
- San Fransisco : On voudrait visiter Alcatraz, Mieux vaut réserver sur Internet les billets ou sur place?
- la carte à 80$ pour les park sera-t-elle rentable pour nous?
- Bodie un dimanche ca ne pose pas de problème?
- Combien de temps de Page pour visiter Antelope Canyon (trajet inclus)?
- Si il y a un lever ou coucher de soleil à pas rater, lequel me conseillerez vous?
- J'ai vu sur le net un pass SeaWorld+Universal à 108$ je crois, ca vaut le coup? ou vaut mieux réserver sur place?
- Y a t'il un interet à grimper dans la tete de la statue de la liberté (Si c'est de nouveau possible)?
- On voudrait se faire une messe Gospel à Harmel le dimanche, peut-on y aller de nous-même? ou le faire via une agence?
Tu as fait un choix, il fallait faire, et forcement ce choix là ne serait pas celui de tous, mais qu'importe , c'est votre voyage.
Quelques commentaires neanmoins.
Yosemite : le parc est grand, donc decidez à l'avance ce que vous voulez voir : les sequioa, les chutes, faire une ballade, El Capitan, bref regarde les guides et les photos du net pour definir tout ca à l'avance, sinon, vous passerez votre temps en voiture sans voir la moitié de ce que vous vouliez. Le dimanche vous quitterez le parc par la Tioga qui est tres belle, donc là aussi quelques arrets.
Bodie : pas de probleme le dimanche, c'est un state park .
Prenez le temps de vous ballader dans la valley de la mort, Vegas en pleine journée n'est pas le must, d'autant que vous y passez la journée du lendemain.
MV : arrivez avant 17h. Assistez au coucher de soleil, et au levée, magnifique egalement. Ainsi vous pourrez partir tres tot pour GC. 1/2 sur GC etant courte, mieux vaut y etre tot.
Couchee de soleil : MV bien sur, Bryce egalement. GC les lumieres arasantes rendent le canyon magnifique egalement.
Sur Page, Horseshoe Bend est bien egalement en fin de journée.
Alcatraz : oui il faut reserver, car sinon vous n'etes pas sur d'avoir de place et certaienement pas celle qui vous arrange du point de vue horaire. Il parait que la visite le soir est flippante.
Le pass pour les parc : OUI : vous faites Bryce, GC, Death Valley, Yosemite, lake powell = 105$
meme en tablant sur le fait de ne pas payer Death Valley comme certain, tu es encore gagnant de 5$.
A payer en plus : Bodie, MV, Antelope.
Pour le pass Sea world universal, si vous etes decidé à le faire, achetes le pass. Tu gagnes 29$. Maintenant , c'est comme tout, pas remboursable si vous annulez le voyage. Ca peut peut-etre attendre .

pour ce qui est de la visite de nuit, elle serait sans doute flippante s'il n'y avait pas 300 autres touristes 🤪
(j'ai fait celle en soirée, plus chère d'ailleurs... j'ai bien aimé Alcatraz, mais même on ne suivant pas les indications de l'audio-guide il est difficile de s'isoler, il y a du monde partout alors le côté un peu "inquiétant" s'en trouve largement atténué... en plus le soir après la visite il fait nuit, du coup il n'est pas vraiment possible de se balader sur l'île, voir les jardins etc.)

Comme beaucoup de monde ici je te conseille de prendre 1 jour de plus à Yosemite.
Eventuellement 1 jour de plus à New York (3 jours pleinement remplis nous à suffit, à voir comment vous marchez).
Tout étant deja reservé, pas possible de rajouter une journée à yosemite ou newyork...
J'ai bien compris qu'une journée était courte sur Yosemite, mais bon il fallait faire des choix.... Quel randonnée conseillerais-tu (3/4h maxi , rando par trop dure)?

Ca va etre génial !! Yosemite en 1 jour c'est court mais ne t'inquiètes surtout pas, ca sera bien suffisant pour en prendre plein la vue !! Passer plusieurs jours à Yosemite est plaisant parce que c'est très joli, mais si tu as qu'on jour tu peux faire les ballades les plus jolies.
Voici ce que je te conseillerais :
- Yosemite en 1 jour :
9h : Tu pars de SF
13h : Arrivée à Yosemite première vue au bord de la route sur la droite
13h30 : Tu vas à Lower Fall's, tu as une petite balade de 45 minutes qui va jusqu'en bas de la cascade. Au bout de quelque mètres de cette balade, sur la gauche il y a point de vue (il doit s'appeller Yosemite Lower Fall's view un truc très original hihi!) qui est très agréable, à l'ombre et s'il fait chaud tu y trouveras surement un tronc d'arbre pour pique-niquer devant ce magnifique spectacle !
15h : tu récupères ton logement, poses tes affaires et tu repars en ballade (en shuttle ou à pied selon ce que tu choisis)
15h30 début de ta ballade : je te conseillerai que trop le vernal fall (cascade, regarde les photos sur internet si ca te plait, pas besoin d'aller jusqu'à Nevada Falls) car c'est un des souvenirs qu'on a le plus apprécié. La randonnée est divisée en 2 partie. Une première partie (2h a/r facile) où tu vois la cascade de loin. Une deuxième partie 3h a/r (en tout, soit 1h de plus) où tu es a 50m sur le coté de la chute d'eau, et 4h maxi a/r (on a mis 3h avec une femme enceinte) en tout si tu veux monter la voir d'en haut. (regarde les rando sur le site officiel : http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/valleyhikes.htm). Si ca te semble trop dur pour vous, fais Mirror Lake c'est beaucoup plus tranquillou (dans ces cas là part directement de LowerFalls sans passer par l'hotel, tu y verra peut-etre un ours sur le chemin entre les 2 😛!).
19h30 : Une bonne douche et l'apéro !!
Le lendemain si tu as le temps tu peux aller à Wovana tunnel pour le meilleur point de vue du park (pour ma part), mais renseigne toi avant s'il y a toujours des travaux (on a perdu 1h30 dans les bouchons!).
Pour Antelope Canyon :
Upper canyon : J'ai pris contact avec le gars par mail (sans numéro de CB), ce que je te conseilles de faire si veux arriver pour 11h (heure du rail de lumière). Il avait noté mon nom sur son calepin, les places étaient réduites (10aine). Je me suis trompé de nom, regarde les différentes compagnies sur internet (http://www.navajonationparks.org/htm/antelopecanyon.htm#tours) une d'entre elle à un départ en décalé.
Elles sont basées à Page, à coté d'un super marché.
Dans le prix que tu payes dans cette excursion tu payes le permis navajo de 6$. Demande le en partant tu en auras besoin pour faire Lower Canyon (ca t'évite de le repayer).
Lower Canyon : Tu vas directement dans le parc (tu suis le panneau Lower Canyon) tu as une toute petite cahute qui ne paye pas de mine (sur la gauche) et les excursions partent toutes les 30 minutes.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
