Je pense qu'en six jours tu as le temps de faire un bon tour de la ville ou au moins des principales attractions touristiques.
Je te conseille des monuments comme l'empire state building, le rockefeller center, le pont de brooklyn, la statue de la liberté, ce sont
un peu les classiques.
ensuite tu as les musées comme le Metropolitan museum of art, le musée d'art moderne, le museum of modern art...
Pour bien comprendre la ville il faut aussi se ballader et visiter les quartiers de Chinatown, little Italy, Tribeca, Soho et bien sur
Times Square, Broadway...
Central Park est aussi à voir.
Avec ça je pense que tu seras déjà bien occupée.

on a également opté pour le NY City Pass (79$) et à part le Musée d'Histoire Naturelle, on a utilisé tous les coupons :
- Empire State Building
- MET
- Guggenheim
- MOMA
- la croisière de 2h "semi-circle cruise" autour de Manhattan
l'avantage (outre le prix avantageux) c'est que du coup tu ne fais jamais la queue pour avoir les tickets d'entrée (il suffit de lire sur le coupon où il faut se présenter pour échanger son coupon et on zappe les files... par ex au MET, il ne faut pas aller aux caisses mais à un guichet Met Will Call desk à gauche du grand escalier... au Guggenheim, il faut se présenter à l'Information Desk...)

Non, cinq jours à New York ça ne suffit pas. Malgré tout, cela laisse le temps d'avoir une première approche de la ville.
Que faire en cinq jours ? Monter en haut de l'Empire State Building, visiter un ou deux musées si ça t'intéresse, un petit tour de ferry pour aller voir la Statue de la Liberté et visiter Ellis Island (prend l'audioguide en français, indispensable ici, beaucoup moins à l'Empire State Building). Si Ellis Island ne te dis pas plus que ça, mais que tu veux voir la statue, tu peux prendre le ferry gratuit qui relie Manhattan à Staten Island.
Tu peux aller passer une soirée à Times Square, aller voir une messe à Harlem, consacrer une journée à la visite architecturale de la ville (bus+balade à pieds), faire un petit pique nique dans Central Park (tout dépend de la météo).
De quoi avoir un premier petit aperçu de NY... qui te donnera forcément l'envie d'y retourner. En tout cas, prévois une bonne paire de chaussures ! 😉

Non je n'habite pas en Belgique mais dans la région lyonnaise ce qui explique que je part de Lyon
C'est vrai que 5 jours ne font pas beaucoup mais je n'ai pas prévus de visiter dans les moindres recoins New York
Il est vrai que je resterai dans Manhattan et je visiterai ce qu'il y a de principale a visiter car je ne vois pas l'interet de visiter tout les districts de New York.
Je prevois de Faire le matin une activite du citypass style musée ou croisiere et l'apres midi visiter un quartier manger dans les restaurants du quartier( ex chinois pour chinatown ou italien si je visite little Italy) Je pense que faire 3 musée la statue de la liberte l'empire stade building faire du shopping et visiter les principaux quartier ce qui parait enorme alors que non je trouverai certainement le temp en conq jours.... mais ceux qui veulent visiter touts les musee le bronx le quenns ex.... 5 jours ne sufiraient pas

Je suis allée à New York tout simplement sur Air France parce qu'ils étaient étonnamment les moins chers quand je me suis décidée à partir, d'une semaine sur l'autre en fait. Il fallait remplir les avions donc j'ai bénéficié de bons tarifs.
Sinon, lors d'autres voyages aux USA, j'avais pris American Airlines (correct), British Airways (très bien), US Airways (bof) et Delta (pas mal). Dans l'ensemble, je regarde plutôt le prix car les prestations sont plus ou moins équivalentes, à peu de choses près.
Concernant Swiss, tu as tout de même déjà posé 2 fois la même questioin qur le forum compagnies aériennes...🤪
Swiss, c'est dans la moyenne de ce qui se fait aujourd'hui. Comme air France (sauf l'A380 que je prendras pour Ny justement en Mars 😛)
Concernant le NY Pass, je suis intéressé pour avoir plus de précisions à ce sujet.
A quoi ca sert vraiment ? c'est un "super coupe-file" ? Est-ce que ca impose d'enchainer les visites ?
Dans mon séjour à Ny, je n'ai prévu de "visiter" (je mets des guillements car se promener dans la rue c'est visiter également) : le MET, l'ESB, le Top of the Rock.
Le reste ce sera balade dans les rues au gré de nos envies : ferry de Staten Highland, Brooklyn...
Il n'y a pas de problème sans solution... et si il n'y a pas de solution, il n'y a pas de problème !
5 jours à NYC c'est court (et long à la fois!) donc faut optimiser.
Moi je te propose le circuit suivant, que j'ai réalisé. C'est clair qu'on ne traine pas mais en même temps il faut savoir ce qu'on veut. (Circuit basé sur un logement Midtown ou Times Square)
1° jour : en général bien amputé vu l'horaire d'arrivée à JFK puis transfert à l'hôtel etc...
Je te conseille de faire un tour autour de Rockefeller Center, 5ème Avenue, Broadway, premier passage à Times Square.
Je préconise plutôt Top of The Rock plutôt que Empire State car d'abord moins de queue, ensuite plus belle vue sur Central Park et enfin parce que de là haut, on le voit très bien justement l'Empire State.
Le soir, t'es cané vue le jet lag donc couché tôt!
2° jour : en général réveillé tôt (tjs question jet lag).
Après un bon petit dej, filer en métro à South Ferry (l'extrême sud de Manhattan). Tu peux faire en une heure l'aller-retour à Staten Island pour voir THE Statue et au retour la Skyline.
Puis à pied tu remontes : là tu as WTC, Wall Street, NYSE, Trinity Church, St Paul's Chapel.
Tu prends le métro à Fulton St direction Canal St.
En sortant tu es dans Chinatown et proche de Little Italy. Tu te ballades dans ces quartiers et tu y déjeunes (demande moi si tu veux des adresses mais tu devrias ne trouver dans tes guides).
Après avoir repris des forces, tu vas dans SoHo à l'ouest, à deux pas. Insiste sur Grand St, Broome St, Greene St.
Tu reprends le métro à Spring St. Direction : West 4th St.
En sortant tu es dans Greenwich Village. Un des plus beaux quartiers de NYC. Là encore ballade dans cette véritable parenthèse. Si tu es fan de Friends ou de Sex in the City, ouvre grand tes yeux !!!
Tu peux reprendre le métro à 14 St.
Selon l'état de fatigue tu peux faire un tout chez Macy's.
3° jour : Midtown
Le matin, tu peux aller faire un saut au Flatiron Building d'un coup de métro.
Puis tu reprends le métro à 23 St direction 42 St Grand Central.
En sortant du métro tu es dans Grand Central. Puis tout au long de la matinée tu peux faire Chrysler Building, NY Public Library, Waldorf Astoria Hotel, tous les buildings célèbres (Seagram, Lipstick, IBM, Sony, LVMH, ...), Trump Tower, Apple Store.
Déjeuner dans la quartier.
L'après-midi, shopping + visite du MoMA.
4° jour : pas mal si c'est un dimanche !
Le matin, petit dej très très léger voire pas de 'tit dej du tout et d'un coup de métro (ou à pied selon où tu loges) tu vas à Columbus Circle et au Time Warner Center histoire de prendre un café. Puis à pied tu remontes Central Park W pour longer l'Upper West Side et voir notamment le Dakota Building (mort de John Lennon) mais également bien d'autres choses. Puis tu pénètres dans Central Park pour voir la Great Lawn et le Réservoir Jackie Kennedy.
Et là tu peux commencer à avoir faim : laisse toi tenter par le célèbre brunch new yorkais du dimanche matin dans l'Upper East Side (là encore si besoin d'adresses demande moi).
L'après-midi, passage obligé (selon tes envies) au MET, au Guggenheim ou à la Frick Collection. Ou bien refaire un tour dans Central Park.... Ou bien encore dans l'Upper East Side.
5° jour :
Il faut bien finir le shopping alors déjà le dernier jour, on fait les derniers achats.
Puis je te conseille d'aller à Brooklyn en moyen de transport et de revenir à pied par le pont. Histoire d'avoir l'un des plus jolis points de vue sur NYC.
La dernière journée est forcément amputée par le nécessaire retour à l'hôtel pour récupérer les bagages puis le départ à l'aéroport.
Evidemment, toutes ces journées peuvent se faire dans n'importe quel ordre (selon météo) mais celui-là me plait bien.
Si cela t'intéresse, tu peux aussi ajouter une messe à Harlem, la visite du siège de l'ONU ou bien ecore d'autres choses selon tes désirs.....
A ta dispo, si tu veux plus de détail sur des adresses précises de lieux ou de restos....

On avait prévu un itinéraire comme suit (sachant qu'on n'est pas très musées, sauf le MET of course) :

J2 (un dimanche) : messe à Harlem, puis en descendant visite de Central Park, et un petit tour dans Midtown en fin d'aprèsm
J3 : Tout le Sud Manhattan, y compris le Staten Island Ferry, jusqu'à Chinatown/Little Italy si nos pas nous portent le soir c'est mon anniversaire : une idée de truc sympa à faire ?
J4 : Journée Midtown + Soho, Greenwich... (y'a quoi à voir à Lower East Side et East Village ? Le Lonely Planet n'est pas très enthousiasmant pour ces quartiers 😕... ?)
J5 (17 Mars) : Saint Patrick puis retour à Central Park et visite du MET
J6 : Flanerie, shopping le matin, puis aprèsm à Brooklyn avec traversée du pont à pied
J7 : On reprofite qqs heures des coins qui nous ont le plus plu, puis direction JFK pour un vol à 20H

Bonjour, la compagnie aérienne vers New York: cela dépend ce que tu attends comme service etc...
Si tu habites Lyon, tu peux partir de Paris avec AF (petu-être en A380) oou en B777.
En éco, tu auras un bon service, peut-être le meilleur comparé aux autres compagnies au départ de CDG et ayant comme destination NY.
Le personnen parle français, et est agréable.
De plus le départ se fait du terminal 2E qui il faut le dire comparé au T1 et au T2A est plus agréable ( pour les vol UNITED et US airways).
Si tu prends une compagnie aérienne américaine, en éco le service est très moyen ( certaines choses sont payantes🤪).
Si tu dois choisir entre une compagnie américaine prends UNITED ( attention escale).
Dans le cas de AF, il faut faire attention au code share, avec DELTA où le service est inférieur.

Cela dépend de chacun bien sûr mais consacrer 1h00 au quartier financier alors qu'il y a des dizaines de buildings historiques, beaucoup de petites rues ( rare à NY ), Trinity Church, etc .... c'est limite à mon avis !
Et tant qu'à faire autant manger un hot dog prés de Wall Street avec les "Maîtres du Monde" 😛 qui nous ont explosé le système financier . Entre 2 krachs, ça mange aussi ces p'tites bêtes là 😏

Classic itinerary: arrival in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler, Vancouver Island, departure from Vancouver.
I know you can’t see into the future any better than I can, so I’m obviously not asking what the wildfire situation will be like in a month...
But if any of you could let me know if, CURRENTLY, there are major difficulties—not just for locals, of course, but for tourists as well?
We’re hesitating between taking the chance or canceling what we still can.
We’re not young anymore and don’t have the flexibility we once did...

A friend is renting a car for an upcoming trip during the All Saints' holiday.
Nowadays, all rental cars come with GPS, but do you know if you can use it without paying for the GPS rental? I have no idea since I always use my own!
After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

We went as a family to Mount Rushmore in 2023, where my son bought a multi-function pocket knife like the one below with his name engraved—'NOAH'.
Unfortunately, he just lost it, and he was really attached to it. So, if there’s a kind soul passing by Mount Rushmore who could bring one back for me (I’d obviously cover all costs), that would be amazing for my son.

We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
