Hi everyone, I’m planning to travel solo to Oman in December 2025, renting a vehicle that allows me to camp in certain areas. For those who’ve already explored the country this way, could you share your experiences or tips? I’d also like to visit the Wahiba Desert, but in that area, I’d prefer a guide for driving and, most importantly, not to sleep in those luxury desert-edge camps but rather have a "wild" escape under the stars. Any guide recommendations? Thanks in advance – Clem

Hi Clem, you can rent a jeep with a tent on the roof if you want to sleep under the stars. Otherwise, you can contact a guide, but it’ll cost you more than staying in a camp. There are plenty of camps that are more "natural" than luxurious.

Hi Clem—or should I say Isa, Your trip to Oman is over, but I was wondering if you managed to find a guide or a nice spot for the Wahiba Desert?! And how was your trip?! I’m heading there next October with my 13-year-old son, and we’ll be staying in a tent with a 4x4 rental car. Do you have any tips, places to visit beyond the usual tourist spots, good addresses, or any other info? Every little bit helps!! Thanks in advance!!
