Hi everyone, I’m looking for a quiet village or town by the Black Sea in Romania to spend 2 nights (hotel, guesthouse, Airbnb) away from the crowds and resort towns—we’re traveling by motorcycle. Thanks

Hey, the best bet is to head to the Danube Delta, but it seems tricky to get there by motorcycle. You’d need to take a boat. Otherwise, I don’t really know of any charming villages by the Black Sea. Constanța is a big industrial port, and Mamaia is the beach resort. Even Sulina, which is in the Delta, doesn’t have much charm.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I planned to check out the Danube Delta, but since I don’t know the area at all, I was wondering if I could get there by road or track? I’m really disappointed about the Black Sea. Oh well, we’ll improvise... 🤷🏾‍♂️ Thanks again

There’s a really nice track connecting Sfântu Gheorghe to Sulina that I traveled by packraft. It can be done by motor vehicle. However, to reach Sfântu Gheorghe or Sulina, you’ll need to take a boat—check out the website for Navrom. The boats can carry vehicles. It’d be a shame to miss the Delta—it’s vast with endless spaces and tons of bird species.

Thanks a lot, we’ll wing it once we’re there 😉

Hello,

Even Sulina, which is located in the Delta, doesn’t really have much charm

It depends on personal taste. I really loved this unremarkable village, its *end-of-the-world* vibe—where there’s not much else to do in the evening, once the day-trippers have boarded their hydrofoils, than to watch the swallows darting to drink at dusk, just before the river disappears into the sea.

By this, and this only, we have existed. Which is not to be found in our obituaries. (T.S. Eliot)

hi, yeah, I totally agree—it’s the right word to describe it. There’s definitely an "end of the world" vibe... The Danube Delta is one of my favorite spots in Europe. And then there’s that super long stretch of deserted coastline. If you keep going into the delta, you might even come across semi-wild horses. I really need to put together a travel journal about the Delta 😉
