The Rock of Cashel (12th century) in County Tipperary, Ireland. A stunning example of medieval Celtic art in Europe, legend has it that this is where St. Patrick drove all the snakes from the island and converted the people to Catholicism. A few centuries later, Cromwell turned it into a human slaughterhouse...

They say this square is the second largest in the world, after Tiananmen in Beijing.

I can’t wait to go back!

Hello and congratulations to the three December winners... I’m jumping in today, on this sad January 7th. I’m trying to make sense of what’s happening both in the contest and in life... it’s tough! 🙁 So, with today’s mood, here’s my first photo: the Théâtre des Célestins in Lyon, which seems to be falling apart... (still from the December 8th festivities).

And here's my photo #2: I hope it hasn't been done already because I can't view the slideshow (I keep getting a 500 internal_server_error).

The Mahabat Maqbara is a mausoleum located in Junagadh in the Indian state of Gujarat. Once the palace of the nawabs of Junagadh, it is the mausoleum of Vizier Bahaduddinbhai Hasainbhai. Built in 1892, it is the oldest Mughal monument in the city. This tomb is a blend of Islamic, Hindu, and European influences.
