Photo #1: The House of the Blackheads in Riga

One of the most beautiful monuments in the Latvian capital. Built around 1477 as a temporary residence for traveling unmarried merchants, who were part of the powerful brotherhood known as the "Blackheads." The façade was redesigned in the 16th century, showcasing the typical Dutch Renaissance style.

True, the theme was "off the beaten path," and I’m the first to plead guilty since I didn’t really stick to it either—but who takes photos of plastic Eiffel Towers? Still, we traveled well, saw some lovely photos, and that’s what matters most.

So, to follow the rules:

3 points for Timouss 1’s Icelandic Eiffel Tower 2 points for Xyer 1’s Petronas Towers 1 point for Fredisdead 2’s Notre-Dame de Fourvière

But I also loved Fred66’s bridge, Ming2’s traveler’s tree, Nilsou’s Tower Bridge, and so many others.

My votes:

3 points: Nilsou Photo No. 3 (Tower Bridge, London) - Elegant, harmonious photo, very original with the sundial in the foreground

2 points: Nosferatu75 Photo No. 1 (Wat Rong Khun or White Temple, Chiang Rai, Thailand) - Strange and unusual construction

1 point: Capucine18 Photo No. 1 (Hungarian Parliament, Budapest) - Stunning at night with the illumination and reflection in the water

Several other beautiful photos—I particularly enjoyed: - KaniBé Photo No. 1 (Ponte Vecchio in Florence) - KaniBé Photo No. 2 (Brooklyn Bridge in New York, with the former Twin Towers of the WTC in the background) - CatherineGil Photo No. 1 (Reflection of Santiago Cathedral in Plaza de Armas, Santiago, Chile) - Dolma Photo No. 1 (Kyle of Lochalsh, Eilean Donan Castle, Scotland)—peaceful, rural, looks like a painting.

Hi everyone, not much time (lots of work), I vote:

3 points: aireone_1: I really love the Touareg in France!!

Thanks, but I must point something out that’s not insignificant. Yahya isn’t a Touareg—he’s a Moor, and Moors really don’t like Touaregs, whom they consider bandits. While Yahya is open-minded and doesn’t get offended when called a Touareg, be careful not to try that with another Moor—it could rub them the wrong way...😉

My picks: I love night photos, so of course: 1: Nilsou Photo 1 2: Jemaflor Photo 2 (the extraordinary church in Royan, made even more stunning by the lighting) 3: Lahaut Photo 1 (daytime and in black & white for a change, though I was tempted to go with a gorgeous shot of Tower Bridge...)

Hello,

Whether it fits the theme or not, I vote among the photos approved by the moderator. So here we go...

3 points: Pyrene64 no.3 (Spain)

2 points: CatherineGil no.1 (Chile)

1 point: KaniBé no.2 (United States)

I also liked: Ghrtyto no.1 (Ecuador), Mamina64 no.1 (Russia), Pyrene64 nos.1 & 2 (Portugal, Spain), KaniBé nos.1 & 3 (Italy, France), MoniqueM no.1 (Latvia), Manu78 nos.1 & 3 (Ukraine, Lithuania), Rawe no.3 (Brazil), Manu78 (Lithuania)...

In pretty much every contest, I love KaniBé’s and Pyrene64’s photos. For future contests, I’d love to see more of Africa represented than in this one. Thanks!

Hery

Not a very exciting theme—for me —so I picked photos that not only I like but that I would’ve loved to take (well, mostly know how to take ):

3 points for Nilsou-3 2 points for Jemaflor-3 1 point for Nilsou-1

Just a little thing: while AirOne’s photo is really nice, I don’t think it fits the theme since Mont Saint-Michel itself isn’t a *monument* but a *rock* ("built" by nature, not by humans) 🙂.

Yes, but in Attila’s topic description, he specifies:

L.. The monument can be captured from above, from below, in the rain, as a reflection...

Deserted or packed with visitors...

Photo edits are also allowed! 😉..

If mountains are allowed, why not rocks?😉

Mont Saint-Michel is indeed a rock.

But a rock topped by a marvel whose name we often shorten...

It's too long to write Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel! 😉
