Désolé par avance pour la redondance, le sujet à probablement été débattu plusieurs fois mais je ne trouve pas de réponse a toutes mes questions:
- Quelles compagnies sont réputées fiables? j'ai pu voir plusieurs retours négatifs avec des loueurs type firefly, bsp... et avec des loueurs internationaux (hertz, ...). j'ai bien compris que les soucis portaient principalement sur les assurances et les clauses abusives des contrats à signer à la va-vite.
-Mon vol atterri à 23:10 à Cagliari. Les agences sont-elles encore ouvertes à cette heure? chez certains loueurs il est clairement précisé que non, chez d'autre impossible de savoir.
N'est-il pas préférable de prendre un logement à Cagliari la 1ère nuit et de prendre la loc de voiture le lendemain? (mon hébergement se trouve sur la cote est).
En gros, je cherche une compagnie sérieuse, au prix du marché et ouverte après 23h😉
nota : pas besoin d'étalage de mauvaises expériences, les bonnes feront bien l'affaire 😄

On peut effectivement trouver des avis négatifs sur toutes les compagnies de location de véhicules, mais d'après mon expérience, c'est très variable selon les agences et même selon les personnes qui vous reçoivent au guichet. Pour ma part je n'ai jamais eu de souci avec Hertz à Cagliari (je n'y ai pas eu affaire à une autre compagnie jusqu'à présent).
Je ne vous conseillerais pas vraiment de prendre un contrat avec des compagnies comme Trifly ou Firefly qui sont en fait là pour louer les véhicules déjà bien amortis (voire amochés) de compagnies plus réputées, et qui attirent le client avec des tarifs séduisants qui au final se voient augmentés d'assurances obligatoires ou de cautions exorbitantes.
L'idée de prendre un logement à Cagliari la nuit de votre arrivée est certainement la meilleure. Rouler de nuit en Sardaigne n'est pas toujours évident. Il faut savoir aussi que la durée de location du véhicule est calculée en fonction de l'heure de restitution de votre véhicule. Toute tranche de 24h entamée est comptée, donc si par exemple au retour vous devez rendre votre véhicule à 15h, cela ne changera rien de le prendre à 23h30 le jour de votre arrivée ou à 10h le lendemain, sauf que dans le second cas vous serez plus relax et que si vous constatez qu'il y a un problème avec le véhicule, vous trouverez quelqu'un à qui le signaler. Un autre avantage serait de pouvoir contracter la location avec une agence située en ville : il se peut que les disponibilités à l'aéroport ne soient plus vraiment suffisantes au moment de votre séjour, et vous aurez ainsi plus de choix.

Je suis tombé sur un loueur local qui est sardynia rent a car, j'ai demandé des infos par mail, j'attends de voir.
Ça ne me dérange pas d'avoir une voiture qui a déjà vécu...surtout pour la carrosserie. C'est vraiment c'est histoires d'assurance que je veux éviter.
Selon la réponse de sardynia, surtout pour les horaires d'ouverture, je verrais pour passer une nuit a cagliari.

Quelle coïncidence ! J'ai contracté une location avec cette même compagnie à Alghero pour mon tout prochain séjour en Sardaigne. Pas eu vraiment le choix vu que c'était la seule qui pouvait encore mettre à ma disposition une voiture pour 15 jours à un prix (relativement) raisonnable. Je m'y suis pris sans doute un peu tard...
Nous pourrions éventuellement faire part ici de nos expériences respectives avec ce loueur au sujet duquel on ne trouve pas beaucoup d'avis sur le web...

Le peu d'avis que j'ai pu trouver sont positifs ce qui est plutôt rare. Je ne comprend pas trop les assurances dites obligatoires en saison , et qui couvrent des dommages a priori couverts par l'assurance des cb visa premier. Les avez vous souscrites?
En tout cas je vois que vous êtes de bons conseils sur d'autres sujets relatifs à la Sardaigne également, ca m'est bien utile.
Je compte visiter l'est et le nord. Et puis on reviendra pour le reste puisque le logement nous est offert.😊

Encore une fois, pas vraiment eu le choix, donc oui j'ai pris les assurances obligatoires en saison (évidemment pas dupe de leur prétendue utilité, mais c'est la loi de l'offre et de la demande qui joue). Ma seule expérience à Cagliari est avec Firefly (filiale de Hertz) l'année dernière. Aucun souci et pas cher. La voiture etait effectivement assez cabossée, mais marchait très bien. Le fait que la carrosserie était déjà amochée, est un gros avantage, car on se préoccupe un peu moins des petites eraflures qui en Sardaigne se propagent dès qu'on se gare dans des endroits un peu difficiles (vue la végétation et les autres véhicules) comme sur les iles de la Madelana.
Si tu payes avec une gold ou une premier, les assurances non obligatoires ne sont pas nécessaire.
Attention à ton hébergement à Cagliari, le centre ville est fermé le soir à la circulation des véhicules non autorisés avec contrôle automatique par caméra.

Si j'ai bien compris, si je ne prends pas les assurances complémentaires, ils vont me faire une emprunte du montant des franchises. Et dans le cas où je n'ai pas le montant dispo sur le compte, ils imposent de prendre les assurances?
Je trouve aussi que c'est un avantage d'avoir une vieille voiture. Perso, je m'en fout un peu d'avoir une voiture neuve.
D'habitude je loue chez Hertz mais en Sardaigne c'était trop cher. J'ai trouvé Firefly par le site Air France où j'avais acheté les billets. Sincèrement, ils n'ont pas vraiment regardé la voiture au retour tant elle était "bignée"
Oui pour la franchise. Par le passé j'ai déjà eu des dégats sur un véhicule. Tu dois avancer les sommes, mais l'assurance te rembourse avec tous les justificatifs possibles.

Je n'ai pas eu de problème de réponse aux mails avec Sardynia, par contre j'apprécie moyennement qu'on m'ait fait signer une souche Visa en blanc après avoir pris l'empreinte de la carte sur un sabot. Ce qui revient à signer un chèque en blanc. C'est soi-disant au cas où je rendrais la voiture sans avoir fait le plein ou si je ramassais une amende. Vous me direz que j'aurais pu refuser, mais j'avais besoin de la voiture. Je vais quand même voir avec Visa s'ils acceptent de bloquer tout nouveau débit chez Sardynia dans ces conditions.

En définitive, il semblerait que je ne doive pas avoir de problème ultérieur avec Sardinya. J'ai rendu la voiture avec le plein fait mais le préposé a joué la confiance (il n'est même pas allé voir le véhicule !) et m'a rendu la souche de carte de crédit signée en blanc sans discuter. Ce n'était pas le même bonhomme qu'au moment de la prise du véhicule, je dois dire.
Je dois juste faire remarquer que la voiture était plutôt basique (même pas d'airco, à bon entendeur). En revanche je recommande la Panda pour les routes sardes, elle est suffisamment haute sur pattes pour s'aventurer sur les petits chemins de campagne sans accroc.

Le montant de l'emprunte CB est de combien quand on ne prend pas les assurance? Le cumul des deux franchises soit 2000€ environ ou 1 seule franchise soit 1000€?
Pour le modèle je partais plutôt sur une c3 ou punto mais est ce que la panda est assez grande pour 4 personnes (+ quelques bagages)? Les arguments pour arpenter les petits chemins me séduisent bien!

Je ne connais pas la localisation de l'agence à Cagliari, j'ai loué à Alghero, mais si rien n'a changé à Cagliari, toutes les agences de location sont regroupées dans un petit bâtiment préfabriqué côté gauche de l'aéroport en sortant (à 150 m environ).
Pour les prix, je ne saurais dire ce qu'ils vont proposer, a priori avec les assurances obligatoires il n'y a plus de franchise à craindre, mais ils prennent une empreinte de carte de crédit sur une souche sans somme indiquée, au cas où on rendrait le véhicule sans avoir fait le plein, par exemple. Du moins, c'est ce qui s'est passé à Alghero, je ne dis pas que c'est la règle.
Pour 4 personnes, la Panda serait peut-être un peu juste avec les bagages. Le coffre est petit, j'ai à peine pu y mettre une grande valise et une petite. Je pense que vous devriez viser la gamme supérieure.
Renseignez-vous bien sur les options car la mienne n'avait même pas d'airco ! Détail qui compte en été, un peu moins hors-saison.

A priori emprunte de franchise à 1000€ sans les assurances (ce que j'ai pris) et franchise réduite à 300€ avec les assurances (qui augmentaient d'un tiers le coût de la loc).
Ils m'ont également confirmé être au "terminal " des loueurs. Finalement ce sera un véhicule groupe C. Pour l'A/C en principe c'était coché... j'y serait attentif.

Retour d'expérience avec Sardinya plutôt positive.
Très bien accueilli malgré notre horaire d'arrivée tardive (23h30). Mais c'était prévu.
Un deuxième conducteur offert au moment du retrait du véhicule alors que cela est en principe facturé 5€/J.
La punto avait 12000km, avec A/C et était en très bon état.
Rendu le véhicule avec le plein ( vérifié). Etat des lieux de restitution rapide et sans soucis mais rien signé à ce sujet.
Emprunte CB rendue. Je me suis rendu compte après coup que l'annulation de la préautorisation est d'1€ alors que l'emprunte était de 1000€. L'avenir me dira si cela peut avoir son importance.
En définitive, je recommande : compétitif en arrière saison quand les assurances ne sont plus obligatoires, sérieux, et sympathiques.

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.

I’ve found some great deals on flights to two destinations: Menorca in the Balearic Islands and Alghero in Sardinia.
The flights would take us from Bordeaux to Menorca on the evening of 9/07 and return to Bordeaux in the evening on 13/07.
Or to Alghero very early on 10/07 (departure at 6 AM) and return in the mid-afternoon on 13/07.
We love beautiful landscapes, the sea, snorkeling, walks (hiking), and the charm of villages.
We want to spend some quality time as a couple without our kids and mix discovery with relaxation.
I can’t make up my mind. The transport costs are roughly the same when you factor in parking for Sardinia since the early departure means no public transport from home.
We’ve never been to Menorca, Sardinia, or Italy at all. I’ve been to Majorca, though.
Menorca would be 4 nights and 4 days, while Alghero would be 3 nights and 2.5 days.
Also, what itinerary would you recommend for Alghero and Menorca?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

Here’s our itinerary:

We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.

What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.

This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
