Je serai prochainement à Assouan pour 3 jours avec mon petit fils de 10 ans et j'ai repéré un hébergement sur le Lac Nasser: un petit bateau appelé le Safari boat Nubian 2. Ce n'est pas un gros bateau de croisière, mais il propose un hébergement en pension complète avec ballades sur le Lac. Quelqu'un connaît-il ce bateau? Revient-il tous les jours "à quai"? Que faut-il en penser?

Le bateau appelé le Safari boat Nubian 2 ne reste pas à Assouan mais fait la navette, sur le Lac Nasser, du 'port' d'Assouan vers Abu Simbel et ce, forcément en plus de 3 jours .
Il fait du 'cabotage' et revient à quai ts les jours, mais pas à Assouan ! Il passe de site en site , si j'ai bien compris : wadi el Seboua , ...
Il ne peut donc servir d'hébergement dans cette ville .
Vous allez certainement trouver sans problème d'autres logements .
L'information sur booking.com n'est pas claire, car le bateau accepte des réservations pour 3 jours, mais effectivement le programme de navigation sur le lac compte 5 jours.
Il me semble que vous en connaissez un bout sur la Haute Egypte, car vous signez beaucoup de message. Donc une autre question: quel est le meilleur moyen pour aller de Louxor à Assouan, et si c'est en voiture quel en est le prix moyen?

Aller de Louxor à Assouan ? Tout dépend si vous désirez voir et visiter les temples intermédiaires, c à d Edfou et Kom Ombo, ou simplement aller d'une ville à l'autre .
Dans le second cas , je vous conseille le train : très bon marché ( l'équivalent de 5 à 7 € p p ) , un peu plus rapide et sans problème .
Sinon, la route est pleine de casse - vitesses décoiffants et le temps est plus long ...
Si vous voulez visier en route , pas le choix : c'est le taxi : partir assez tôt pour arriver avant le coucher du soleil . Comptez 4 h de route et 2 h de visite par temple , soit une journée de 8 h .
En fait, tout dépend de ce que vous les avez déjà vu ou non ...
Le prix : tablez sur 80 à 90 € par taxi ( pas par pers . ! ) ; tout dépend de votre faculté à négocier !
Ne perdez pas de vue que le taxi devra revenir à vide et qu'il y a + ou - 270 kms à l'aller .
Il faut trouver un taxi la veille, qu'il puisse demander les autorisations à la police , à moins que cela n'ait changé ... Plus de convoi , mais des check points .

elle est une touriste férue d'Egypte et y a fait de nombreux voyages en individuelle ..elle connait donc tous les trucs et astuces !
petit détail suplémentaire, pensez que les transports terrestes ( bus, minibus , voitures privéeset taxi) n'ont quasi aucun la ceinture de sécurité en état de focntionner aux sieges arrieres ( ou les touristes en general s'assieyent !)
oubliez aussi les sieges BB et rehausseurs si petits enfants ...et les risques d'accidents sur els routes egyptienens se multiplient par 10 sur les grands axes en raison des vitesses non respectées, et de la conduite sans phare la nuit !!
si vous ne voulez "absolument" visiter les temples en chemin, préférez d'office le train plus confortable et surtout PLUS SURE !
sachant de plus que son prix, meme en premiere classe est dérisoire !
si votre décision des de prendre la route :
NE planifiez qu'un itineraiere de jour ( partir le matin tranquille pour arriver avant le coucher de soleil)
et inspectez votre véhicule en exigeant la présence les ceintures (en etat !!) à vos sièges, que ce soit avec une agence touristique ou un taxi privé !

Très précisément, nous arriverons à Louxor le 12 février au matin (train de nuit depuis Le Caire). Séjour à Louxor le 12 et le 13. Je connais déjà Louxor que j'ai visité il y a longtemps, et je pensais lui montrer la vallée des Rois, les tombes des Nobles et la vallée des Artisans (dont je garde un magnifique souvenir). Le 13 au matin, peut-être ballade en Montgolfière suivie d'une visite au musée de Louxor ou du temple de Karnak, puis train pour Assouan.
A Assouan, le 14, visites des temples de Philae et de Kalabcha. Le 15, Abou Simbel par route, retour pour une(!) nuit à l'hôtel Old Cataract, car c'est un peu magique (avant, nous logerons à la Nubian Holiday house). Le 16, ballade en felouque et visite du musée de Nubie, le soir train Assouan-Le Caire où je retrouve, le lendemain une grande amie égyptienne.
Ce programme est évidemment un projet, susceptible de modifications sauf pour les hébergements et trajets.
J'attends avec une impatience non dissimulée votre avis et éventuelles recommandations.

j'ai fait tout çà, en me limitant à Louxor, avec mon petit fis ( et sa famille, qui ne connaissait pas du tout ) ; l'enfant n'avait que 6 ans mais était TRES motivé . C'est un gamin HP, diagnostiqué après, curieux de tout et mémoire ... incroyable .
On n'avait donc eu aucun mal à le motiver et donc, au départ, il avait en tête une mini ligne de temps des pharaons et connaissait les dieux principaux . Si ce n'est pas le cas pour le tien, fais- le ; ce devrait être + facile : il sait lire !
A Louxor , tu as donc 2 jours :
Vallée des Rois ( conseil : Ramsès III , Taousert et une autre , pas Toutankh ) PLUS , dans la vallée des Singes, 5 mn en taxi, ( billetterie des Rois) la tombe d'Ay , le successeur de Tout ... : même déco , dans une vallée isolée : l'enfant se prendra pour ... Indiana Jones !
Vallée des Nobles : il faudra faire un choix ; je dirais, avec un gamin, Sennefer ( le plafond! ) et Rekhmiré : ds la 1ère salla , à gauche, des peintures montrant un voyage et des animaux d'Afrique noire la girafe et le petit singe !) . Ds le 2ème salle , à droite , un jardin en perspective ... plate !
La vallée des Artisans : oui, coup de coeur !
Va manger au Nour El Gournah avant d'arriver aux Colosses, à gauche en revenant des vallées . Les taxis connaissent .
Le soir, allez vous promener au temple de Luxor illuminé, en ville ( pas Karnak) ; il est ouvert tard et c'est magique .
Le lendemain : la montgolfière, çà dépend ; il y a une TAILLE minimum ; c'est selon les vents ( parfois impossible) et il FAUT le 1er vol du matin .
Je ne le ferais pas car, si pas possible ce jour - là, aucunesolution de repli vers un autre j .
Si tu tentes le coup, va sous l'Old Winter ; Sindbad est bien .
Karnak et, si possible, le Musée : oui, le petit avait été ébahi par tant de beauté .
Attention : ménagez - vous des moments de détente : piscine ! Sinon , il va fatiguer ...
A Assouan, les 2 temples : très bien ; la felouque : beaucoup, au moins 2 h ou 3 h, vers la 1ère cataracte et les îles .
Personnellement, au risque de t'étonner, je n'irais pas à Abu Simbel cette fois : il a tte la vie pour y aller et il faudrait y dormir 1 nuit ... Vous verrez le Lac Nasser de Kalabchah .
Sinon, tu vas ramener en France une loque et il risque de tout mélanger ! Je suppose qu'il repart à l'école ?
Je te donne en MP le mail d'une agence Net, à Assouan, qui n'est guère plus chère que ce que tu pourrais négocier toi-même et qui n'emploie que les locaux ; ce pourrait te simplifier la vie !

My plan is roughly to do a road trip loop from Rabat back to Rabat, passing through Asilah, Tangier, Tétouan, Chefchaouen, Akchour, Fès, Meknès, and Volubilis.
That’s a lot of cities.
Probably a bit too many for our taste—we usually prefer more isolated spots...

Then, when I mentioned I wanted to stay for two or three weeks—maybe even a month—explaining that my trip wouldn’t be strictly touristy but more of a pilgrimage to the places of my childhood, and that it would likely be a very emotional journey, I expected a positive and warm reaction to my approach. Instead, I suddenly stopped getting replies from the three or four people I’d contacted. So now I’m wondering about the reception former Pieds-Noirs can expect...
Anyone here who can share their experience of returning? I specified “recently” because it seems that right now, diplomatic relations between the two governments are extremely tense, not to say hostile... even if Macron claims otherwise...

- Does it need to cover the entire duration of the trip?
- Is this document mandatory for a hotel to rent a room?
- Is it checked during inspections?
- Is a hotel booking (e.g., via Booking.com) sufficient for the visa?
- If so, does it need to be paid in advance?
I plan to visit several cities and do one or more treks with a guide or agency.

I’d like to do a route that’s a bit different from my first stay, which was more focused on cities and culture (Tunis, Sousse, Kairouan, El Jem).
I’ll be getting around by public transport.
I’d like to head south toward Tozeur, and I saw that you can take a *louage* from Monastir to Sbeitla (2h30). I imagine it’s not too complicated to get to Tozeur from there afterward? The issue is the return trip to Monastir and safety in Sbeitla.
If this route seems too complicated, I might opt for Djerba instead, which looks simpler.

Day 4-5-6: Chefchaouen and a day hike in the Rif Mountains
Day 6-7: Discover the city of Fes (I’ve heard so many great things!!)
Day 8: Stop in Meknes and possibly visit the historic site of Volubilis
Day 9-10: Rabat (I’ve heard mixed things... some good, some bad)
After that, I have the choice of heading back to Tangier for my return flight... or going down to Agadir (also a possible return flight) and extending my trip by 5 days :)
From what I can tell, everything is well connected by bus (CTM) or train (ONCF).
Another question: Is the vibe in Moroccan youth hostels for meeting people the same as what you’d find in Western Europe?

(though there are fraudulent sites out there). On the official site, they ask for legitimate info
(name, nationality, etc.). What made me go "hmm" was the request for both an email address
AND a password (with confirmation). Is this normal?

A lot of people find it important to stick to their budget when traveling—not to skimp, but to visit as many places as possible since traveling is their hobby.
In this post, I want to share some tips for those coming to Morocco who want their trip to be budget-friendly.
1. Prebook everything: hotels or riads, car rentals, or tours. If you book these in advance, it’ll make your life easier. You won’t have to deal with hagglers or people trying to overcharge you for services that are available online for free. Use platforms like Booking, Expedia, carsrental.ma, Airbnb, and other booking services to get this done properly.
2. Exchange your money to Moroccan dirhams as soon as you land. 1 € is always a little over 10 dirhams, but many people get charged as if it were exactly 10 dirhams per euro.
3. When visiting an old site or the old medina, avoid talking to vendors and shop owners—they’re really good at getting your attention and making you overpay for things.
4. Ask your tour guide to buy things for you. Yes, they do get a commission, but you’ll probably pay way more if you buy something yourself that they can get cheaply.
5. Walk everywhere. You don’t need a taxi for every little trip. Pick a good location and walk—most Moroccan cities are safe during normal hours.
6. Buy your food, drinks, etc., from supermarkets at normal prices. They can’t overcharge you since they scan every product.

I’m planning my next trip outside Europe for next year, but unfortunately, I don’t have a choice with the dates—it’s late June to early July. Last year, I went to Japan for three weeks, and it was constantly 36-37°C with over 90% humidity. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible either.
For Egypt, I know it’s a period to avoid if possible, but I’m thinking that by the sea, it might be manageable. Otherwise, I’ll consider another destination.
Day 1: Arrival in Hurghada in the evening
Day 2, 3, 4: Hurghada
Day 5: Hurghada, then drive to Luxor in the early afternoon
Day 6: Luxor
Day 7: Luxor, then drive back to Hurghada in the late afternoon
Day 8, 9, 10, 11: Hurghada
Day 12: Return flight
For the Hurghada trip, either rent a car or—easier—a private car/van.
Is it worth adding an extra day in Luxor?
