J'ai le projet (vague pour l'instant) de recolter des vetements et des médicaments et de les envoyer en mauritanie (j'aime beaucoup ce pays ou je suis allé deux fois et ou j'ai maintenant quelques contacts amicaux).
En fait ce projet est né en discutant avec notre guide et ami la derniere fois. Cela dit en y réflechissant je me demande si ce genre d'actions est vraiment bénéfique pour la population. La mauritanie est un pays tres pauvre mais en meme temps les gens (en tous cas dans le désert et les campagnes) manquent à la fois de tout (selon nos criteres) et de rien (ils ont un mode de vie tres tres simple mais ancestral).
Donc je voulais avoir vos avis. ce projet ne me couterait pas grand-chose si ce n'est un peu de temps mais je ne veux pas m'engouffrer sur la vague "humanitaire" àa la mode en ce moment sans réfléchir un peu à la portée de mon acte (qui sera modeste de toutes façons et à lui seul n'aura pas beaucoup d'impact mais quand meme).
Envoyez l'argent pour acheter sur place, ainsi vous ferez travailler le commerce local.
C'est avec ce genre de pratique, parfois à très grande échelle, qu'on tue les artisans locaux. Donc d'un côté on aide quelqu'un, et de l'autre on détruit le tissu économique local. Alors qu'en envoyant de l'argent vous aidez toujours la personne et vous faites tourner l'activité sur place.
Bonne remarque, c'est un peu à ce genre de problemes que je pensais.
En plus quelqu'un m'a dit que des vetements donnés par des ONG (qui sont parfois de marque puisque donnés par les gens) étaient parfois vendus à Dakar sur les marchés...
Cela dit je refuse de simplement envoyer de l'argent. Pour moi ça n'a pas de sens, le but c'est de donner un coup de main, donner un peu de temps depuis la france, rien d'autre.

I’m a volunteer leader at a youth center (MJC), and we’ve been deeply moved by everything happening in Madagascar—extreme poverty, endangered animals, deforestation, and so on. Plus, one of our teens has a Malagasy friend, so our group wants to travel there next year.
Throughout this year, they’ve planned fundraisers to collect donations (sheets, dish towels, schoolbooks, hygiene products, etc.) and funds to cover their trip and stay.
They’re really motivated and generous—they already volunteer in schools and senior centers, and they’re always welcomed warmly.
But so far, they haven’t found any organizations in Madagascar willing to host them for two weeks (orphanages, schools, animal protection parks, etc.).
Does anyone know of any contacts, please?

We currently have 2 wheelchairs that we would like to give to our partner, the Benin Handisport Federation. If you're traveling to Benin, alone or with someone, we could give you one of these 2 wheelchairs (or both). Out of the 40 kg of luggage you're allowed, a wheelchair will only take up less than half. Hello, we’d like to travel as a family to Madagascar (2 parents, 2 kids aged 10 and 12). A first trip over 15 years ago completely amazed and moved me with its beauty, kindness, and life experiences—but also its poverty and hardship. That’s why I think it’s possible to introduce our kids to this island while also doing something useful through volunteering. The window is short—15 days in March 2020—which means avoiding the north and east of the island due to cyclones and focusing on the south instead. Some ecovolunteering projects exist online, but the cost is sometimes prohibitive, and kids are rarely accepted. Do you have any ideas or contacts? Thanks in advance!
