M'Hamid to Sacred Oasis trail – is it doable by motorcycle?

Hi there,

A Morocco fan for 20 years, this time it’s the real deal—my 1200GSA is gonna see some country over 3 weeks. On the southern Morocco side, from M'Hamid to Sacred Oasis, I did this area quite a few years back but in a 4x4. My question is: is this trail rideable by motorcycle? Has anyone already tackled this trail by bike (in good conditions)?

Thanks in advance

Hey, I see no one’s stepping up to help you out...

Okay, I’m not a biker myself, but you’d find way better info in specialized Facebook groups—there are a few really solid ones.

That said, if I don’t want to get too ahead of myself about Chegaga by bike... The stretch from the town to the sacred oasis isn’t the sandiest part (except for the first few km leaving town, which can be sandy sometimes). It’s mostly rocky with trails branching off in every direction and a small area with few landmarks. If you stick to the right trail, it’s pretty easy to reach the oasis, but you can make things tricky for yourself by taking a wrong turn on a bike.

Seriously, in those groups, you’ll almost certainly find someone who’ll hook you up with the right GPX, OLC, UTM, or MGRS file—and a recent one at that.

Two groups that stand out: *Les Relais Mortard* and *4x4 au Maroc*, and *Maroc à Moto*...

Hi there, yeah, I totally felt like I was the only person on Earth – lol! I agree with you, I’ve done this trail several times in a 4x4 and I remember the tricky sections (not easy on a loaded 1200GSA with two people!). Thanks for the FB tip ;) PS: HUGE kudos on your photo 😏 Keep it up!
