Bonjour à tous. Je suis rentrée de Floride, il y a maintenant 5 jours. Je souhaitais raconter vite fait ce magnifique voyage.
Nous sommes partis presque 1 mois. Tous les 3. Mon mari, notre fille ( 4 ans ) et moi même. Nous avons voyager avec Air France ( montpellier/mimi avec escale a Paris )
Les voyages se sont très bien passés. Nous voyageons en éco. Les avions étaient propres, le personnel très sympa, les sièges étaient très bien, les repas corrects, et nous avions un très grand choix de film sur les écrans perso. Bref, rien à dire.
Notre premier pied à terre se trouvait a Kissimmee. ( nous avons fait un échange de maison ) Nous y sommes restés 17 jours. Une super maison, dans un quartier typiquement américain avec des voisins adorables.
Contrairement à ce qu'on lit un peu partout, il y a ENORMEMENT de choses à faire et à voir du côté de Orlando.
Tout d'abord, la ville elle même !!! MAGIQUE !!! L'équipe de Basket ne porte pas son nom pour rien 😉 Le quartier de Church street, puis la downtown, la superbe promenade autour du lake eola...
Old Town Kissimmee. Un joli voyage dans le temps, dans ce quartier des années 70, magasins, manèges, restaurant, et cerise sur le gateau le vendredi et le samedi, rassemblement de vieilles voitures.
Les parcs. Disney Animal Kingdom, la déception 😕, Seaworld, sa réputation est méritée, les shows sont tous simplement spectaculaires et pour finir Island Of Adventure de Universal... LE coup de coeur, LA grosse claque 😉 Plus de 12 heures d'affilées passées dans le parc et on en redemandé 😎 Et le parc est complétement adapté pour les jeunes enfants. Au top !!!
La côte atlantique, 45 minutes de Kissimmee a Cocoa Beach, une très belle journée, LE shop de surf avec le fameux Ron Jon, les plages immenses avec ses surfeurs, ses piers et son eau délicieuse.
Le golfe du Mexique. 1h30 de route ( nous avons dormi dans un môtel une nuit ) De Siesta Key a Clearwater en passant par sarasota, Bradenton, st pete, etc etc... Des plages avec des sables plus blancs les uns que les autres, de l'eau turquoise, des couchers de soleil a couper le souffle, des villes superbes....
Intenational Drive, vous trouverez tout et rien sur cette immense avenue, et vous y passerez un bon moment à vous dire " mais ils sont fous !!" 😉 Prévoir soit un bon portefeuille, soit des œillères... ( d'ailleurs achetez vos entrées pour les parcs sur cette avenue, belles économies en perspective )
Les outlet... Quand faire du shopping devient un vrai plaisir. Je ne parle pas que des prix qui sont 60 fois moins élevés qu'en france, mais aussi du choix des magasins, du nombres d'entre eux et des outlet extérieurs qui sont une promenade à part entière. Prévoir de très grosses valises pour le retour.
Et je zappe, cape canaveral, saint augustine, tarpon spring...
Nous sommes ensuite descendus dans les Keys, notre pied à terre se situé a Islamorada. Un petit cottage sous les cocotiers, les pieds dans l'eau chaude du golfe du mexique. Nous n'étions plus en échange de maison, nous sommes passés par le site Airb'n'b a recommandé !!!
Nous avons visité le theatre de la mer. Un petit seaworld a taille humaine, ou la proximité avec les animaux vous laissera sans voix. J'ai nagé ici avec les dauphins. Beaucoup beaucoup moins cher que dans les grands parcs, beaucoup plus de temps avec les dauphins, et en plus on nage dans leur habitat naturel. Ne pas avoir peur de se baigner dans la mangrove, et surtout savoir nager. Il y a aussi une petite plage, rempli d'énorme poisson perroquet bleu, notre fille a nagé avec eux des heures !!! et c'est gratuit 😉
Une journée à Key West. la fameuse photo avec la balise représentant le point le plus au sud des états unis, la maison d'hemingway, les "markets", les rues colorées et chantantes...
Les plages de bahia honda... il n'y a pas de mots... à faire, refaire et refaire encore.
Nous avons ensuite filés a Miami, là aussi appart trouvé via Airb'n'b.
Une journée à Florida city. Histoire de visiter les everglades. En premier petite ferme aux alligators avec un tour de airboat !! Génial !!
Puis randonnées dans les everglades. Magnifiques !!! Les randos ( que nous avons faites ) sont ouvertes à tous, et gratuites. Alligators sur alligators, paysages somptueux, des oiseaux très curieux... un plaisir sans nom.
Nous avons profité de metro mover a Miami. Metro aérien gratuit là aussi, qui vous promène dans tout Miami de downtown a financial district. Il y a plusieurs arrêts qui vous permettent de descendre et visiter la ville.
Miami Beach, les plages sont immenses et très belles, l'eau très chaude. Collins avenue et ocean Drive sont particulières. Ambiance très bling bling. Il faut aimer, mais c'est à voir. Les plages de North Beach, sont du coup plus agréables.
A faire absolument : Key Biscayne. Tout au sud de Miami. Ce parc national est somptueux. Avec son phare, sa faune et sa flore, magnifique. Sur la route du retour vous aurez une vue imprenable sur Miami !!!
Le soir attendre le coucher du soleil, sous l'échangeur de Miami beach, pour avoir THE vue sur la skyline de Miami. Tranquillité assurée car la plupart des touristes ne connaissent pas du tout le coin. Seuls quelques pécheurs se trouvent là.
Je vous ai fait un résumé rapide et peu détaillé. Vous avez les grandes lignes. Et pour finir je dirais que la Floride c'est un Voyage 3 en 1. Sur un seul état vous voyagez dans plusieurs pays !!! Surtout n'hésitez pas !! Vous allez adorer !!!

Tout d'abord super compte rendu (vite les photos), cela me rassure, je part pour les USA faire le tour et je vais finir par une semaine mon voyage en Floride (qui va tomber pour le nouvelle an 🙂). Beaucoup de personne m'ont dit : la Floride et surtout Miami rien de nouveaux tu va être déçu tu aura l'impression de connaitre.
Ton récit me rassure même si je suis du genre têtu et préfère vérifier par mes propres yeux.

J'aurais une question : J'arrive (maintenant 2jours) de Orlando et je suis allé à Magic kingdom , Hollywood Studio , Animal kingdom et toute les activitées autour de mon hôtel (Séralago). Bon ma question concerne que tu mentionnes un échange de maison , j'aimerais avoir plus de détails comment il faut procédé et si tous c'est bien passé à ton retour . Car mon hôtel était bien mais une maison serait mieux , peut-être que la prochaine fois que j'irai , je regarderais cette option . Merci

Pour les randos elles se situent A Royal Palm et s'apellent Gumbo Limbo Trail et Anhinga Trail, ce sont les 2 plus courtes.
J'essaie de vous mettre quelques photos en vrac ( orlando, miami, everglades, key biscayne, les keys etc etc )
Très belles photos vraiment ! Tu as vu beaucoup d'alligators sur le Anhinga Trail, nous on en avait tout juste aperçu un seul et encore que le haut de la tête, ils n'étaient pas en forme ce jour là 😉
Et j'aime tout particulièrement la première que tu as mise, ça donne envie d'en voir d'autres (Non non pas de pression...! 😎😛)

@karibou77 pour le anhinga trail c'est normal que vous n'ayez pas vu beaucoup de gator car c'est une rando dans la "jungle " des everglades, pour y découvrir les plantes.
Celles pour les gator c'est Gumbo limbo trail ( cf photo 😉 )

Je dirais donc que effectivement les gators étaient peut être un peu frileux lors de votre visite. Peut être y a t'il une saison ?? ça je ne sais pas du tout en revanche. Car nous, nous avons eu la chance d'en voir des masses 🙂

Je n'ai pas fait animal kingdom mais pour avoir discuté dans un waterpark avec une française qui en revenais c'est juste un vague zoo, elle préférait (et nous aussi) largement les waterparks justement (d’ailleurs je déconseille Epcot)
J'ai fait Animal Kingdom et j'ai trouvé ce parc assez décevant aussi.
C'est ni plus ni moins un zoo avec quelques décorations à la Disney.
En regardant les photos de promotion, on a l'impression qu'ils ont réussit à reconstruire la savane grandeur nature. En réalité, c'est tout autre puisque le plus grand des enclos n'est pas si grand que cela et est plutôt artificiel.
Tu traverses les décors dans une Jeep très bruyantes avec un commentateur de Disney très bruyant également tout le long de la promenade... Bref, du Show à la Disney, mais pas du tout un environnement respectueux envers les animaux.
Il y a aussi un ilot sur lequel se trouvent des singes. Cette attraction m'a choqué car ils sont coincés en hauteur sur une sorte de temple artificiel et de grands piliers. Ces malheureux passent leur journée à tourner en rond et à crier. Ce qui fait la joie des touristes, mais sans doute pas celle des singes... 🤪
Bref, ce n'est pas du tout ce que j'imaginais et très loin des magnifiques parcs naturels Africains.
En outre, le message du respect de l'environnement dans un univers à demi artificiel a du mal à passer...
Si tu cherche un simple divertissement, tu appréciera Animal Kingdom et ses quelques attractions, mais si tu aimes les animaux, ce parc te semblera décevant.
Si tu aimes les animaux, je te conseille vraiment pour un prochain voyage de faire les parcs naturels de l'Afrique du Sud ! C'est magnifique et 100 % naturel.😉

Je me rends moi même en Floride en septembre pour 6 jours et j'ai quelques petites questions à vous poser.
Tout d'abord, j'ai 23ans et j'adore les animaux marins. Par contre, ma maman avec qui je fais ce voyage, n'est pas plus fan que ca et est encore moins attirée par les parcs.
Donc mon dilemme est, tout de même faire Seaworld, mais juste pour les animaux (un peu cher) ou trouver des autres endroits pour voir les lamantins, nager avec les dauphins et les magnifiques poissons.
Est-ce sur Islamorada que vous avez vu les poissons perroquets, pourriez vous me dire ou celz se trouve?
Visiter Seaworld est-il vraiment indispensable alors que nous n'avons que 6 jours?
On aimerai également se rendre à Key West, le chemin n'est-il pas trop long entre Miami et Key west?

6 jours est tres court, car si les distances ne sont pas forcement tres grandes, il y a parfois beaucoup de circulation et on peux perdre beaucoup de temps.

Le printemps est la meilleure saison au point de vue climat, MAIS la plus mauvaise au niveau touristique car c'est à ce moment qu'il y a le plus de monde .
Au point de vue comparaison avec l'ouest, si vs avez apprecié les grands espaces sauvages , vs risquez d'etre déçus;
Alors pour la deception suite au grand ouest... Je ne sais pas. Je n'ai pas encore eu la chance d'y aller ( cette annee ?? ) mon mari lui l'ayant fait n'a pa été décu, mais comme il me disait " ne pas comparer, l'incomparable "
Pour la saison, avril pour nous c'etait le top, pas trop chaud, dans les 28/29. Dans le "nord" peu de touristes, ( comme je disais les gens denigrent souvent orlando et sa region ) du coup dans le sud, on a fait un retour en france ;) j'exagere mais nous avons fuit quelques fois l'inelegance du touriste ( malheureusement souvent francais )
Sur 15 jours je te dirais moitie nord moitie sud. Tout depends de vos envies.

We’ll adapt day by day based on our mental and physical state (we’re not exactly spring chickens).
After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?
We went as a family to Mount Rushmore in 2023, where my son bought a multi-function pocket knife like the one below with his name engraved—'NOAH'.
Unfortunately, he just lost it, and he was really attached to it. So, if there’s a kind soul passing by Mount Rushmore who could bring one back for me (I’d obviously cover all costs), that would be amazing for my son.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

I’m planning a week in S.F. in April 2026 and I can’t figure out how to tell the cable cars—of which I understand there are three lines—apart from the trams, which I think number seven. I can’t find their individual numbers or routes anywhere.
